If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
    How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbitl in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
    Never quit,
    Alex
    FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

He is basically saying that in order to be successful you have to be present, instead of let your mind wandering in the past or the future. Your thoughts are energy and by thinking about a lot of different things at the same time you are spreading that energy in multiple places instead of channeling it into one thing.
This is exactly what the Buddhist monks have been teaching, Alex just put it into different words. By putting your focus in the now you are 100x more productive, that's why the ability to be focused is crucial if you want to succeed in any endeavour. A lot of high level executives use meditation as a tool to increase their focus, so if you want to achieve the same results you might want to try meditating.

Yes, but also what he is saying is that it is important to watch out where we live our present moment in. You can spend hours on Netflix living in the present moment, but that's wasting those marbeles of attention he's talking about

It is astonishingly true what this man is talking about. It is so important to have that ATTENTION, that FOCUS for the meaningful things in life. I realised that myself some months ago. I wanted to earn money and I found out that i can't give my attention to some random video game and become wealthy at the same time. If you are constantly hooked to something that is extremely devastating. The easiest way to understand is if it's an addiction. To me, like i said, I was hooked to some video game, but it can have the same effect like alcohol addiction smoking addiction, because your mind can't focus on your important goal you want to achieve. So I had to quit video games, because I see that it is just time waste no matter the fun I am having in that moment (instant gratitude), it won't make me fulfilled. Btw. since I am talking about video games it comes to my mind that not even some addiction can be destructful, but also just a bideo game you play here and there. Clash of clash for example has a very toxic play style. If you don't play it will make you feel like you are missing out. The game isn't playable for hours straight, but stays in the back of your mind, because you have to check in every now and then. Stuff like that distract you completely even though it doesn't seem so life changing in a negative way at first glance. You need some peace in your mind. Just imagine you had to remember all the time to eat food or go to the toilet or else you die. It is great that that happens subconciously or else we would have to think about it for the entire time and give our attention to that "unnecessary thing" (In this case it would be necessary of course, but it is not something you want to keep in your mind all the time and it doesn't get you to your goal). Don't get me started on dopamin...
Man, somebody's gonna read this bible. I just hope I was able to enlighten someone out there. Have a nice day, brother.

Very good insights! One of the mistakes that a lot of entrepreneurs make is not focusing their attention on all of the areas of life but just focusing on making money. We need to have balance between Physical, Mental, emotional, Spiritual, and Relationtional health! Many entrepreneurs think its ok to sacrifice time of sleep because they think to themselves time is money. If you were to allocate enough "attention" to sleep you would see yourself accomplishing much more during the day on 7.5-9 hours of sleep rather then 5-6 hours of sleep

Thank You! Needed this kick, reality check, and insight. I fail to say NO enough. Sometimes because I want to earn the revenue of a client and sometimes I just like to help but it hurts me in the long run by taking me off track of my goals.

This advice is so good, it's probably the most important piece of information for being truly succesful in life. Attention is the most important thing period.
That also means, one single line of information in any form of communication can be either a dealbreaker or the sweetspot.
That's why you always have to pay attention.

Very good points that you made. Happily I do some already such as being hard to directly contact (hate telephone calls), and focus on one major project at a time.

This was amazing and so true. I have a writing business for fiction stories with an educational twist and we do a half a million a year in sales. We make specific content for companies. It's a tough industry, but a lot of my time is just talking to people often because pay takes a long time. Editing, writing, drawing pictures, it all takes time. Often in this industry it's not uncommon to be waiting 8 months or longer to be paid for work but we were able to land a couple great clients and so people got used to a two to three month turn around. Last year those clients started having trouble and so payments became longer and longer apart. It was a incredibly difficult situation to manage, but with good communication, I think most people were able to understand and still feel comfortable that they would get paid. We are still going through this but now with the new expectation being industry standard...I'm getting less death threats 😀, but it took a while to make that adjustment and I definitely went through a nightly drink phase.... I was part of that because it took me too long to realize that my clients were not going to go back to paying so quickly and with large sums, and so I took too long to manage other expectations because I hadn't changed my own.
I do wish I knew how to actively market to new clients, this is so nieche the writing world. Getting such great clients in the beginning meant we never had to have a marketing department. So beware early success?
