If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
    How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
    Never quit,
    Alex
    FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. To be able to make a change one will have to do more than the obvious, financial freedom is not always about being rich and having a lot of money. Instead, it is more about having control over your financial present and your financial future

This is how I got ahead. Even as a millionaire, I didn't buy a new vehicle. My grandfather was a millionaire, and he drove his super old truck to all his business and had a brand new truck tucked to the side as his home. I remember asking him why bot drive the new truck, he said because my workers are humble, I'm humble and they see me drive in my old truck and they're open to me. They don't fear telling me when something needs to be changed or a better way. Driving in a new truck would change that.

That first tip cutting costs makes such a HUGE difference. I went from living semi-comfortably paycheck to paycheck in a 2 bed apartment, moved in with an older couple whose kids are out of the house and already having their own kids. I got my own room, which is enough. I got my own bathroom, which is more than I need. Ontop of that, I no longer have a car, instead I ride a $100 bike to a job that is close enough I can cut that expense of a vehicle out of my budget almost entirely (still have to buy inner tubes every once in a while). With the money I'm saving this way, I have literally 1/3 of my cash flow as "free money" that I have been saving, investing, and putting into the things I need to start my own business or fuel my success.
I can't emphasize enough that if your main stress in life is making ends meet, there's probably a way you can live a bit less comfortably but find even more comfort from being financially stable. Not having netflix, or youtube music, or a new pair of shoes, none of this matters to me when I'm sitting in a park in some of my thinking/brainstorming time and I don't have to even think about how to pay rent for one second. Being less comfortable is something you can get used to, and if that buys you the ability to think clearly about what you can do to achieve greater success then the value you get from the cheaper options is immeasurable.

Your clear, straightforward approach that you have laid out here is exactly what I needed to hear! I’m sure it seems like common sense to some but others will be able to identify with what I’m saying. I really appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge and mindset with us.

Alex - this video couldn't hit home more for me. I started with nothing, came from a poor family, and I had a burning desire to give back to my mother. Starting at age 20 at san diego state all I did was hustle every single day. Stacked my classes on tuesday and thursday, cold called 12 hours a day rest of the days trying to get a lead. Fast forward 5 years later, I have sold more apartment building in san diego than anyone else in the past 2 years and have invested all of my money into cash flowing assets. When you first start, it might seem like you're going nowhere, but if you stick with it, you will become successful. Its only a matter of time. This video still motivated me to be better, I appreciate all your content alex!

Great advice! When I was broke working for minimum wage 10 years ago I followed a very similar path. Unfortunately Uber and Lyft were just getting started and wasn't really doing much so it wasn't an option for me. However, I ended up getting two jobs, both minimum wage, moving in with family and then working on developing my skills and then applying to better jobs. Today, my one job pays more than double what I made from BOTH jobs and my side business pays me more than what I made from one of those jobs. If you're watching this video you have WAY WAY more opportunities than what I had in 2013 so go for it!

This came up in my suggestions. I've never seen you before but man, you give great advice for people! I'm 75 and see how kids are struggling. They think they need to have all the best of everything but don't have the money for anything. Families that are struggling because they eat out, buy the best clothing on and on. When my husband and I were just starting out we bought used things. Nothing new at all. We didn't eat out. I had a budget and stuck to it. Good for you for teaching people, hope more will listen to you!

Now this is what I'm talking about! One thing I learned a long time ago was, volume negates luck! Granted it was said slightly different, it was the same thing. I would ask almost every girl I wanted to skate with at the Rink when I was 7-8th grade and that's when I learned everything is a numbers game. It helped me drastically in life, because I've never been afraid to hear no. I've landed some amazing jobs over the years, because I was willing to go in and show my self confidence.

This is so right, I’ve been searching for ideas to make more and I’m sure everyone has but recently I’ve been searching how to better myself. How to live off what I got and need less, and how to actually acquire a new skill not do all that get more money quickly ideas. Finally too classes while do my full time job to aquire a new skill and I’ve acquired a state license in order to take myself to the next level of work to be able to make more with 1 job. Before I had 2 jobs then got promoted in my current and now after the courses and state exam I can have a newer job and still just 1 job starting at the bottom again making more than I do now. I took the steps he said, listening to podcast, watching videos on self betterment physically and most of all mentally, how to be good at an interview, how to be better at customer service! This guys speaks the truth and even though I’m late, I realize d it still and I’m heap upwards. Volume neglects luck.
