If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbitl in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex

I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.
Literally discussed 2 of these points with my husband today. Me "learning more" is a form of procrastination. And tired of everyone reaching out for an implied ask. Done and done. I don't consume any social media with the exception of watching Alex videos for my daily dose of insight. Pumped about this.
Execution can be learning to. Learning on the stuffbthat you're trying to execute
Quote from Steve Jobs.
People think focus means saying yes to the thing you’ve got to focus on. But that’s not what it means at all. It means saying no the the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully. I’m actually as proud of the things we haven’t don’t ask the things I have done. Innovation is saying no to 1,000 things.
As Alex said.. you don’t see progress until you are 70% 80% effort just to see the glimpse of progress… if you have 10 projects going and working on them 10% each… you will be fragmented. It’s best day no to all. And go all in on one thing.
You should read the book “The War of Art”.
Talia - honestly more power to your family. It's awesome to read you have such conversations at home. Well done. Seriously!
No.
•Two things cannot be equally important.
•Delete social media and just access from the computer to post 🤯
Simply said…. Thank you Alex!!!!!
For people with ADD this is a life changer, I was going to skip the video because there's a lot of fake productivity gurus out there but the priority bit got me, thank you sir..
I've seen this guy's videos on youtube, but have only started watching them. The season of no video was powerful. Tomorrow is day 39 of a 40 day water fast I have been on since I had a moment of clarity in my life 39 days ago.
I woke up on a Sunday morning, upside down on my bed, hanging halfway off, hungover, after a saturday night that wasn't even too bad, considering my other wild weekends.
I felt alone and disgusted with myself. I realized that for years, I've given my all to everyone around me, and nurtured their lives when they had absolutely nothing, only to realize that when you help people to their feet, that's when you find out if their hearts are genuine, or if they will be there for you when they have the means to stand on their own two feet.
I found out the hard way, that wasn't the case.
I had a moment of clarity in that moment on the bed, looking out through barely open blinds, where a very bright sun was shining through. Before this moment, all I could think of, was how many people were up, dressed, going out to church, brunch, and maybe to the beach to enjoy their wonderful week with friends and family. And here I was, thinking that I was going to lie in this bed all day and all night, depressed.
Then, not to sound cliche, but a loud voice spoke to me and gave me instructions for an entire reset. The first order of business was to fast for 40 days and 40 nights. This was a multi pronged approach to make a radical change in my life. And it had to be radical, or else I was going to fall into the endless cycle I always fell into when I made declarations of change in my life. So, I didn't tell anyone what I was about to do.
In fact, one of very first things I did with no hesitation was delete my Facebook account. I went to the store and bought me a 6 pack of Fiji water in the liter bottles, and up until now, I have only consumed water with electrolytes and select vitamins, such as a multivitamin, vitamin C, a B complex and nothing else.
I'll have 50lbs. lost in 40 days (at 38 now) and I have never had so much mental clarity in my life. I deleted all of my streaming apps, I bought an Audible subscription and now have over 20 books on there, I go to the local bookstore and have bought books, and have made a list of the top things I will accomplish. Every other goal is not in my thoughts anymore.
I gave up toxic relationships, bad food, alcohol, going out to events, and pleasing others.
I am hyperfocused on me and me alone.
I am not a simp, and no longer care who I offend for not doing things they want to do, loaning them money, or giving them my time.
I could go on, but see I have already written a small book in your comments. I just felt so passionate about this, that I hope that I could help inspire someone else to snap out of it, and build up yourself and your vision, and not be the supplement to others lives and building up their empire and not my own.
I followed these directions and i’m a billionaire now. This stuff really works. 💪
Yep...who knew that a guy that knows the secrets of being a billionaire would just post it on youtube instead of just being a billionaire.
What a great guy.
That was actually good advice, funny thing is as a recovering self-help addict I realized that many self-help methods just keep you occupied without being actually productive.
If you want to do something you have got to commit to it 100% and prioritize it over all other things, even if those other things are self help methods.
It took me a while to realize that but now I focus 100% on my Filmmaking career and I could finally deliver the last months
God considers self-help a sin and it's refreshing to see that those who eventually succeed do so using his principles even though they don't hear preaching regularly
Recoverig self-help addict haha. I love this. That’s how I feel as well.
@@ngreat4390 how?
I’m a self development junky too. Absorbing all this content made me feel like I was doing something but I wasn’t.
Actual work is the only cure!
@@ngreat4390 Dude stfu, no one cares. Go sit in a corner and read your bible, you don't belong here. God hates rich people too, now shoo.
I doubled my business by doing this. I also burned out. Not because this necessarily leads to burnout. But because I had a very difficult client that was a huge pain that I didn’t get rid of sooner enough. Even a profitable client can end up being a net negative. Don’t do that. Love 💗
I began cleaning up my life in 2019, I went to rehab got off the drugs and started working out regularly. The hardest thing for me was saying no to all the people who wanted to hang out, I still have issues with it 4 years later.
Wow! Congrats! I’m sure you will find a “new crew” soon with some efforts. Bravo on your successes so far! 🎉
You have literally changed my life, I thought I was going crazy and becoming a terrible person but I’m just coming to terms with the fact 99% of people I’ve surrounded myself with just don’t think past today, in my own opinion but of course I could be wrong!
Most people think their now is more important than your now. They value their time more than yours.
@@wilbing8465 that is exactly what I was trying to say. Thank you so much xD yeah deffs it’s them not valuing my time equally and vice versa! My god I think you just got to the core of my problems/frustrations!!
When you out grow people around you. You start to out grow yourself
@@rickyaguilar38 im going through this... and its painful. Im watching my homies smoke themselves stupid. wasting time and just talking useless garbage all day. It sucks to know I have to change my circle. I grew up with these dudes. But Im not that person anymore either.....
@@dreamz808 you can pretty much count anyone out who spends time doing things like drinking / smoking. They either don't care that they're wasting time (not even including all the negative side effects of those things), or they aren't disciplined enough to quit.
Alex is like the big brother we all need. Thanks a lot for this!!
Hahaha exactly ! :D
couldn't possibly have said it better
Love the concept of saying no to weekends & especially keeping the same bedtime (at least, for a season.) Thanks for sharing, Alex.
refreshing to see such a down to earth video, that isn't cheap advertisement for a course, but real and genuine advice
I think he just hit the nail on the head for the feeling I've had around wanting to cut back on social events and even deciding to scale back my time in the gym (which I love). Recognizing that I need to go all in on my career building right now.
@Whatsàpp†⓵⓻⓺⓪⓼⓹⓼⓪⓪⓹⓶ how?
It’s been a year since your comment. Did you do what you were saying in the comment? Where are you in life right now?
@@rollingon635890% of people don't
This is deep. I struggle with feeling obligated to reply to people. Growth in 2022 for me means to not feel obligated to reply unless their is value in our conversation and it doesn’t have to be monetary!
You might want to explain that to individuals in your life before you just start ignoring and frustrating and confusing people.
Life lesson : you are not obligated to anything or anybody that your not interested in being obligated
At times I feel like this too and find it obnoxious because it seems to me that people are stuck in the teenage years wanting to hang out at the mall or do nothing.
@@marialeon6765 humans are social creatures so we always crave some kind of connection with other people. As adults we might not go to the mall anymore and do nothing but we might want to go get a coffee with someone as an excuse to just socialize a bit, which I think is good and necessary from time to time. I think it's wrong to say no to everything that is good for our body and mind. I understand that there are some times when we need to prioritize something over the rest in order to get results, but that's not sustainable on the long run.
@@fuuyra45 Yes, but if you're jobless, don't pay attention to your family and responsibilities, and just reach out every day to people to hang out and get upset if they can't, you have a problem. Behaving like a teen gives you the finances of a teen.
so on point and love your no bs delivery. Loved "less information/consumption & simply more execution" part. I needed to hear that.
This dude is so well spoken. Love this advice.
True. I was thinking I can do kids, business, housekeeping. The success recipe for burnout. Keeping things simple is focusing on the things that have the best impact in the long term.
And there are more nos to add. Thank you!
You should chose kids ;)
@@timoteisatmarean7391 :) What do you mean?
@@feliciaboka as a woman I think the best you can do for the next generations is giving birth but most important raising great character kids.
@@timoteisatmarean7391, I understand. I already have 2 amazing kids, 7 and 8yo. As they are more and more independent, I am growing more and more on figuring out other parts of life, such as business.
Felicia it's awesome to read that you thinking about this - but I seriously believe you can have it all :)
Prioritization is a struggle for me, as well as people pleasing…thank you for highlighting points for review in my life.
Your channel is growing exponentially and I love it! So much value.
Every so often the algo shows you someone like Alex who succinctly reminds you of what you know but are internally resisting. This is exactly what I needed hear
My new routine is watching this video every day
Wow that progress on 100 fronts resonates so much! I workout 5 days a week and resent it because I know I have other tasks needing to be done and get more down on myself for not going in on another front at 100. So good man thank you!
the most amount of growth and success, love and otherwise, was when i started cutting everything out and saying no. I was only left with what I cared about, wanted to do, and did. keyword, DID. I didn't make time to do what I wanted, I cut out everything I was doing to be only left with the same amount of time to do what I wanted. Big difference
No more excessive social media scrolling...just going to post from the computer form now on.
The only TV I'm trying to watch is the Mozi channel...All the Hormozis, all the time. The Leila and Alex Wombo-Combo.
This is exactly what I needed to hear. Thanks a ton for all the great content you put out 💯
Thank you for your commitment to releasing so much free and VALUABLE AS HELL content Alex. Here's to your continued success.
This man is a treasure!
So glad I stumbled to this channel, its changing my outlook every time there is a new post.
This is so good!!!!!! Thank you man! I really, really needed this. You just caused a major shift in my thinking bro!
Loving the vid... thank for letting us know what really goes on behind the scenes... and I feel the same... if u got a goal and wanna manifest... u gotta be radical with it... keep up the good work my man
Alex your amazing! I just started these principles before I watched this and having you saying this is what you did and succeeded makes me 100% confident I’ll make it
Appreciate all the Value you provide us with Keep it Going ☑️
Thanks for this, cutting off social media, saying no to things that don't help me
Thank you tremendously for taking the time to make this for us.
This content being online for free is amazing. Pure goldmine
It boggles my mind every time! this generation can have superpowers if they choose to!
I appreciate you for sharing this content Alex. Great man. 👏
Awesome adivce, thank you! I actually started treating the weekends as my "deep work days" because its when people are out and about and everywhere you go its crowded. I feel in peace at home then.
Thanks Alex! Wise Sage advice! PS Merry Christmas! 🎄
I have mad respect for everything you just said.
Idk if I'll wake up at 4am and fast for 2 days, but great points overall
Your content is always very interesting and helpful. Thanks for sharing your experience, and theae valuable lessons! 💯
Alex's point about not needing more information, but more execution is huge. I came to this realization a while back when discovering I didn't need another book with expertise in my field, or more self help books, but to actually do do do! The knowledge to be great at almost anything is already out there... just a matter of doing it!
I appreciate your tips so much! Thanks man! Just ordered your audiobook and totally love it!
7:11 I love the second one, I needed more execution not Information and once you know what needs to be done, anything that you're not doing that is getting in a way of accomplishing what you want 🤩
Thanks for this Vid, Probs to you.
This is crazy I should hear this after already coming to this conclusions for myself, I kept myself in a position where all I had to do was the work that needed to be done, sure my social needs are lacking a bit, however it’s not of importance to me I get enough social attention from my engagements within my work meeting new people getting to know their story and then I’m back to work 🙌🏼 I got nothing else to do but keep learning and working
I seriously love your videos! Literally everything you are saying is what i'm already doing but have been feeling bad about it bc it goes against what all these gurus tell you to do. Well...actually the weird sex money manifestation cult that i walked away from months ago. So toxic. I'm excited to see the massive growth i have by continuing to do these things with no guilt or shame around it!!
From one Alex to another, all the points you've disclosed on this vlog are priceless and timeless guidelines. I would further add that - time is your currency; your output is determined by your level of time spent/saved/redistributed and therefore its efficient/effective use make all the difference.
Wonderfully said. Noting this in my planner!
Love this. So many masterminds & seminars, so little high networth. Glad you said this as I feel like an outcast when I've thought "I don't need to travel to masterminds. I know what I need to do!"
Great advice. I've been treating the weekend different for years.
Loving all your videos, thanks for sharing your knowledge!
I appreciate Alex putting his ideas out there. Just goes to show you that the only way go on in this world is to live it how you want to live it. So many different perspectives and philosophies that work, that it just proves you have to LIVE to live.
I appreciate your videos! Good bless you Alex!! Your videos are so helpful. I just need to execute
Thank you Alex - appreciate both you and your wife’s content!
That was one of the best videos I’ve seen on UA-cam. Thanks for sharing the wisdom!

Brad, well said! Totally agree with you. What about you, you're in business as well?
This is one of those things that people often know without acting on it effectively (me included) When you already feel like there isn't enough time, why would adding more be the answer (unless it's more delegation) Great video, efficient value, thanks Alex!
Didn’t think I’d see you here Kame Trick lol
I just came across your channel sir and I just want to thank you for all of the knowledge that you have to give and for you giving it to help people like me I appreciate you have a wonderful day you gained a new subscriber today thank you for everything you're doing
You’re the only person who has made me feel more of a bad a$$ than a dumb a$$! Your changing my idea of myself by making me see these “off the wall” ways I have are brilliant not a liability. I’ve been idealizing that corporate schedule and high structure routine for years while just “working WITH myself” on my own idiosyncrasies hoping One-Day I’d get it together and now…. Come to find out these are super strengths and I’m bordering on superhero! 😂
What did you achieve with such a routine?
My perspective towards my work routine has been totally altered after watching this video after all others.
I am amazed with the blank space. Thank you for that. I'm more happy working, and doing more, also. Ain't that some shit huh hahaha
Thank you Alex! You're not kidding about the social media time suck. I removed facebook but then spend more time on twitter for no reason. I need to break that habit.
Digital minimalism by Cal Newport is giving a recipe to do that.
Amazing. Just what I needed to hear. Thanks Moz
Dude.. I am so inspired by you..
Unfortunately, I’m currently in the “looking at bankruptcy lawyers” stage 😂 but
Fortunately, my goals are clear, they are monumental, and they are possible.
Thanks for the amazing content Alex
So much value in this video! Thanks Alex!
Just stopping by to say I literally came to this conclusion via some yogic principles and now I stumble onto this video and this is soooo spot on
Appreciate all you share Alex
A year from now my life will be very different thanks to these tips, I am ready to go all in. Forever grateful Alex Hormozi, wish you all the best.
Alex this video is nuts man I appreciate you. I’m honestly scared of this next step, I have to do it.
Alex, just found you here.
Appreciate your work. Thank you.
Oh man everything you said made so much sense. Definitely gonna start saying no more often. Found you on The Iced Coffee Hour btw, awesome podcast.
This applies to me so well right now. I currently say yes to too many things. What I really need to be doing is executing and I know how, but I’m just wasting too much time. Currently entering “a season of NO!”
Why did you comment is a waste of time
To thine own self be true. 👍
Thank you for saving us from all the misinformation and showing the real path
Excellent. Hard to do. Makes perfect sense. Thank you, Alex!
Thanks for taking the time to put this out there, Alex.
Incredible , this is how I've been intuitively feeling. Often come back to your vid about Holiday seasons.
I needed to hear this. I convinced myself I needed to keep going to networking events to help build my business and looking back less than 5% of new business came from networking events so I’m taking a major break and focusing on what actually works.
Loved your perspective, had a similar thought on the back of my mind
I’m really glad I didn’t stop a few videos back when Alex said that you need to stop consuming videos and get to work because I would have never came across this video. Obviously it’s important to act but I’m in my season of learning.
