    Top tip: know the A, Am, A7, E, Em, E7 shapes, understand the CAGED system (the concept of root notes), memorize the notes on the low E and A string and you have yourself 20-30 chords at your disposal.

      Caged is over rated

    • @alec187
      @alec187 3 роки тому +12

      tony montana yeah, you eventually get to a slightly higher than intermediate level and you would have to break off of the caged system. But as far as understanding the neck of the guitar in a beginner level, CAGED is very helpful.

    I don't think it matters how many Chords a guitarist knows but it's how they take the chords and use them to their advantage. If you know a few simple chords you can still play a lot of songs.

    • @AmyReeve3639
      @AmyReeve3639 5 років тому +2

      But if you take them simple chords and play then with a barre you can then explore the fret board and make something way more interesting but you are still pretty much using those same chords you have already learnt.

    Em7, the full G, and C2 would probably be the only things i would add to a beginner's guide, the diminished chord I barely use after four years of playing, and I often jam out with the above chords, not to mention anything in key of G will most likely utilise those chords as well as D

      Why/how do you think you stopped appreciating it like you once did? Do you just feel you’ve learned everything you want to learn and there’s no more achievements or new perspectives on aspects of playing/music in general? I’ve been playing on and off for just over 10 years, and maybe just because I didn’t challenge myself enough in the past or was too self taught, but I still find myself learning new things, discovering new sounds and aspects of sound/tone that can be manipulated and tell stories.
      Until about a year ago I almost exclusively played covers, mostly simple chord progressions and rhythm guitar parts. But now I almost exclusively write my own music and discovering how to craft a melody and change progressions, rhythm etc has given me a new appreciation for how vast the span of sounds you can create with a guitar (and my voice) is.

    Personally I play the open A major chord with my second, third, and fourth fingers. Partially because it's easier to fit them all in place, but mostly because it makes the B major chord much easier to adjust to since it's basically just an A bar chord moved up a whole step.

      @Chiefline what was the point in your reply? Honestly?

    • @robinhood480
      @robinhood480 5 років тому

      Chiefline : When religion is used under the pretense of/ or in place of a proper relationship with God it does appear undesirable .
      Agreed.
      But “Invisible Man” ?
      Whether there is or isn’t a God you don’t expect to find natural proof of a Supernatural being do you ?
      That would be illogical.
      Atheism/ denial of God , is just a crutch some people use to avoid their feelings of convictions . To suppress the call of the Spirit.
      “ If I don’t believe , then it it isn’t real”.
      There ain’t no ghost 👻 as kids say
      Often we hear, “ Just because YOU believe it- that doesn’t make it real.”
      So it works in reverse too.
      “Just because you DON’T believe it doesn’t make it unreal.”
      Ok.... wait for it.........
      “PROVE GOD EXISTS “
      With what? Natural senses like sight and hearing, or touch, tastes, and smell are not going to detect any Supernatural Being!
      It supersedes the natural.
      Even an eagle 🦅 can see better that humans. Human flesh, our bodies, do not qualify as an efficient test for proving the Supernatural World.
      Your Mind & Spirit is how you “see”
      and “ hear” God. If you want to.
      Go ahead and do what you want as far as believing in God.
      Just don’t go on believing that humanity has the ability in the flesh with natural senses to detect and determine the existence of the Supernatural World/ and God.
      Thanks

      @Chiefline you do need to work through that anger. The fact that you comment on a reply, bring yourself into a conversation, that had nothing to do with you, nor was it aimed towards you, because you don't agree? That's insanity. I'm an atheist, but I don't understand other atheists views on religion. It's not something that should upset you, who cares what other people believe in? They wanted answers, they found what works for them, you have no right to try and take that away because it doesn't fit what you believe or don't believe.
