Finally... a guitar video where the guy doesn't tell me his entire life story for 95% of the video, really helpful 🙏🏼
Haha I know right 📌

I'm 61 years old and I learned a lot from your video. No one's too old to learn the basics.
You can say that again. Thanks for watching.

Dude, never late :DD You should know.
I love you
I’m 74 years old and I still fuck bitches every day
Top tip: know the A, Am, A7, E, Em, E7 shapes, understand the CAGED system (the concept of root notes), memorize the notes on the low E and A string and you have yourself 20-30 chords at your disposal.
That's exactly what my Guitar teacher told me
Caged is over rated
But it will help cheat thru the first 5 years. I guess if you don't have a lot of hours yet
tony montana yeah, you eventually get to a slightly higher than intermediate level and you would have to break off of the caged system. But as far as understanding the neck of the guitar in a beginner level, CAGED is very helpful.

Ive played guitar for 8 years now, why did i watch all of this?
Nice video tho
Valters Trumpiks same
Morbid curiosity?
@Ethan Richardson so are you a real guitarist or no after the video? :D
@Ethan Richardson you aint wrong but if you busk unplugged open chords are way louder and useful, +easier on fingers if you have to play for 2+h so theres benefits to being a zombie too 😂
I'm through with fingering, the Post Punk genre demands I cut off my fingers and thump with the stumps. Helps get the high screams going!

Guitar George knows ALL the chords.
Hhahahaha😂😂
how many did you know ?
Mind he’s strictly rhythm! He doesn’t wanna make it cry or sing
Harry doesn't mind...if he makes "the scene".
Yeah, he's doing alright.

I agree - add the Cadd9 chord & other add9 chords - Thanks Nate
Pff.. Noob.
Why not show how to play B major by barring the D G B strings with one finger. Than with your pointer finger press the root note (B) which is the way i see most people including myself play it
This is just superb, I've been looking for "guitar chords notes for beginners" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Fanwen Ziyaria System - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my colleague got amazing results with it.
This was great, thanks, I've been looking for "guitar notes for beginners" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Fanwen Ziyaria System - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my mate got excellent success with it.
Thanks for your clear, relaxed presentation. Makes me realize I've gotten somewhere with my guitar playing that I know most of these. Much appreciated.
I'd love to see a reference chart that not only showed fingered placement but also how that same note looks on standard sheet music and in tab notation. Would be a great learning / reference tool
Ive been playing guitar for about a year and a half, pretty much every single day and I stumbled upon this video. Was able to play every single chord with no troubles. Practice makes perfect!
Thank you, this has been so helpful.I've only been playing less than a year and I do take in person lessons. Your descriptions and finger placements ..watching..being able to pause and go back...has helped me in learning chords!!😊🎸
I know your content is always going to take me up a notch in my training. I've tried other series and video instructors. This is straight to the point and simplified. I know it's not easy but you make it look easy. Thanks so much!
Everyone likes different formats and topics Erika. I'm glad you liked this one.
Been learning chords for about a month now and just wanted to say that this video REALLY helps me. I always go back and reference these and I’ve really improved thanks to you. Thank you a bunch :)
I don't think it matters how many Chords a guitarist knows but it's how they take the chords and use them to their advantage. If you know a few simple chords you can still play a lot of songs.
But if you take them simple chords and play then with a barre you can then explore the fret board and make something way more interesting but you are still pretty much using those same chords you have already learnt.
its about quality over quantity
Thanks! I've been struggling with the bar chords since i'm a beginner. Your video is the best!
thank you was looking for a small refresher and this was perfect
What a lovely refresher! Thanks so much!
Thank you 😊 helping beginners
Add9 chords pls! I love Cadd9 , its my fav! Thank u for the amazing video!!!

Just wanted to thank you and let you know your tips helped me over the last six months tremendously. Especially the tip of just having a guitar where u sit in your house. You get the urge its right there. I went thru the bloody finger thing as a teen and picking it back up after service. Thank you
Thanks for the help!
This video is so good, by the way you are such an inspiration! You send out some wonderful positive vibes. I really liked that last part with the tick for the hobo!
the x33210 FMaj7 was really useful when I was first learning about chords, also a good way to introduce the concept of hooking the thumb over to play on the low e string and can slide it up 4 frets to get a nice shape for AMaj
I have been trying for a few years on just the chords. I recognized some & can do them .I never had any help showing me so I never got the Barre chords. Thank you for this video it was awesome & I got to finally see the Barre Chords you did & now can practice them & look over & check if I am doing it right thanks to this video
Outstanding lesson!!
Your advice with G and C have really helped me. Thank you.
Thanks I needed this..
what an amazing job! I am a percussionist and I have had a guitar for years however, only really knew some chords for some songs and your video makes so much sense now, I can refer back to your video constantly to make perfect sense of the little I know! #subscribed

i really like the way you are define chords with nature feelings like sades happiest chords

Very useful lesson. Thankyou
Thank you for sharing this info, super helpful.
New to this channel but I'm in love already 😁😁
Maj7 chords are some of my favorites. Cmaj7, Amaj7, and Fmaj7 are really easy and pop up a lot. They’re worth learning as a beginner, at least before augmented or diminished chords.
Thanks the way you teach these cords systematically is very helpful
Beautiful teaching skill...
very helpful video. eventho i still know how to play some of the chords but it still help out to play the chords more easily and better than before. i appreciate the alternative bar chords as well bcs not all people are good on playing bar chords. cheers 😎

Really helpful. After having moved from guitar to keyboards I recently picked up the guitar again. This is so useful. Thanks a lot!
Nice man
I took the step of learning the guitar in 2018 and i had no one to teach me, all I had was your videos and I'm so grateful that it helped me a lot.
Clear, concise ideal for the beginner thanks Andrew
I played the G chord and that is definitely my favorite chord its so pretty!
Yeah. Pretty difficult
It has a very big presence
1st position B7 (the one I learned before barr chords) and G7 1st position (1st finger, 1st string, 1st fret).
Thanks for this video! Very well explained! Clears alot of doubts for the chords! 👌👌🙏
The ONLY best tutorial on guitar! Thank you so much
Hi. I think missing out the open B7 was an error in this vid. It's a really useful chord!
He played the A major chord and I started singing "Come along with me, and the butterflies and bees"
You have a wonderful and relaxing teaching style!
Great teaching 👍
Thank you, it helps a lot. 👏 👏 👏
When you know how to play the guitar for many years and still watch this video.
I've been playing for almost 4 years now and I'm just learning the basics, power chords got me throught these 4 years lol
Thats the beauty of guitar
Been playing 10 years. Its weird i know a lot of chords just from ear or watching ppl play but dont know a lot of the chord names. I also need work on scales i always free style and learn solos by watching. Scales will probably help with writing songs more
I know these chords and I play guitar using these...But still watching bcoz it feels good😁
@@tylerthescreamofficial98 you lucky bastard😭😭. I wish i had perfect pitch.....
I found a chord harder than F
B major chord
Freaking same they are impossible especially if you have tiny hands!!!
Plenty of jazz chords are harder than a six string bar chord
@@girlstalk5secondsofsummer212 try buying a guitar with a smaller scale length it will help with that alot
@@girlstalk5secondsofsummer212 I'm 6:4 I have massive hands playing for years using 42 mm but width found picking hard as fingers were bunched together . All good now as use a 44 mm nut width which better spaced strings . If you got tiny hands get a neck that's C shape and 41 mm or 42 nur width .
@@Noah-wv4td I play for about 8 months and I can play the F and B chord, I still struggle a bit switching quickly between such (barre) chords...

Weird thing, but when I was practicing bar chords I got mad and stopped playing for the afternoon because I was mad, but two days later, I had no problem.
It's happened with me!! Sweet child o mine! I was practicing the solo a lot, but never got it right. So finally I gave up, but a few months later, I randomly tried playing it, and it came out almost perfect!

Your muscle memory had it registered, it happens with everyone, sometimes you just need a little break.
a x that’s so true
I’ve had a guitar for about 2 years now. I never really got hooked on it because it looked so complicated (even though that’s the reason I wanted to play it). I’m finally catching on to it and this video is one of the reasons. Thanks for the great tips and showing other people how to play chords on the guitar :))
Ive found 'hanging out with my guitar' really helps! Even if it is for just a few minutes every day. I am not a 'natural' but my friends tell me i'm getting better😂 good luck!
Watch Ayla's videos. She's wonderful at explaining music in a very simple way, she makes things so easy.
Hii
Love you man. Learnt more than I've learnt on all of UA-cam in this one video...
Very enlightening
Em7, the full G, and C2 would probably be the only things i would add to a beginner's guide, the diminished chord I barely use after four years of playing, and I often jam out with the above chords, not to mention anything in key of G will most likely utilise those chords as well as D
Augmented chord is the E shape chord played on the first 3 strings.
this vid was super helpful, thank u!!
Absolutely great video
This is awesome, thanks much
Thanks mr GuitarLessons for this vid. 🤘
This is really helpful for beginner...ty very much

I liked your diminished "Road trippin'" reference lol. RHCP
Thank You Excellent lesson!!
that was awesome !!!!!! Thank You So Much
I tried to teach myself guitar once or twice but i could never get passed the finger pain from pressing strings down. Now that I'm learning the piano I'm amazed at how much more mysterious the chords are for guitar. I feel like if I tried to learn guitar now I'd have to translate everything from piano to guitar.
Learn on an electric it’s way easier to finger than an acoustic especially when first starting learn these chords in this video.
@@thedadyouneverhadchannel3544 Exactly....electric is the way to go to master the chords and other basic notes and then it's fully transferable to acoustic. You only have to press a little harder on the acoustic but the rest of the technique is the same
OMG I needed this
You are a great teacher.Ive learned a lot from your videos. Please don't stop
Excellent and cogent presentation on some of the more important guitar chords. You are a gifted communicator! Keep at it amigo!
Been playing 15 years.. I wish I could go back to the struggle and the joys of looking at the guitar as if it was a piece of the worlds greatest art. I guess some lose that over the years.. Hopefully people don't though.
Why/how do you think you stopped appreciating it like you once did? Do you just feel you’ve learned everything you want to learn and there’s no more achievements or new perspectives on aspects of playing/music in general? I’ve been playing on and off for just over 10 years, and maybe just because I didn’t challenge myself enough in the past or was too self taught, but I still find myself learning new things, discovering new sounds and aspects of sound/tone that can be manipulated and tell stories.
Until about a year ago I almost exclusively played covers, mostly simple chord progressions and rhythm guitar parts. But now I almost exclusively write my own music and discovering how to craft a melody and change progressions, rhythm etc has given me a new appreciation for how vast the span of sounds you can create with a guitar (and my voice) is.
Personally I play the open A major chord with my second, third, and fourth fingers. Partially because it's easier to fit them all in place, but mostly because it makes the B major chord much easier to adjust to since it's basically just an A bar chord moved up a whole step.
Even I do the same..It really makes it easier..
This video is so incredibly helpful thank you!!
Thank u for your lessons
Dsus4 - used in hundreds of worship songs everywhere, especially using it in combo with a standard D for resolution.
@Chiefline what was the point in your reply? Honestly?
Chiefline : When religion is used under the pretense of/ or in place of a proper relationship with God it does appear undesirable .
Agreed.
But “Invisible Man” ?
Whether there is or isn’t a God you don’t expect to find natural proof of a Supernatural being do you ?
That would be illogical.
Atheism/ denial of God , is just a crutch some people use to avoid their feelings of convictions . To suppress the call of the Spirit.
“ If I don’t believe , then it it isn’t real”.
There ain’t no ghost 👻 as kids say
Often we hear, “ Just because YOU believe it- that doesn’t make it real.”
So it works in reverse too.
“Just because you DON’T believe it doesn’t make it unreal.”
Ok.... wait for it.........
“PROVE GOD EXISTS “
With what? Natural senses like sight and hearing, or touch, tastes, and smell are not going to detect any Supernatural Being!
It supersedes the natural.
Even an eagle 🦅 can see better that humans. Human flesh, our bodies, do not qualify as an efficient test for proving the Supernatural World.
Your Mind & Spirit is how you “see”
and “ hear” God. If you want to.
Go ahead and do what you want as far as believing in God.
Just don’t go on believing that humanity has the ability in the flesh with natural senses to detect and determine the existence of the Supernatural World/ and God.
Thanks
@Chiefline you do need to work through that anger. The fact that you comment on a reply, bring yourself into a conversation, that had nothing to do with you, nor was it aimed towards you, because you don't agree? That's insanity. I'm an atheist, but I don't understand other atheists views on religion. It's not something that should upset you, who cares what other people believe in? They wanted answers, they found what works for them, you have no right to try and take that away because it doesn't fit what you believe or don't believe.
And More Than a Feeling
Very useful and this is what I show my students. I also tell them it took me 2 weeks to do a bar chord. One suggestion - a very common chord in rock and roll is a sus4 which isn't hard to to do - I believe Buddy Holly was one of the earliest rockers to use them
love it, thanks!
finally a great video to learn some chords..good work guys.
