  • Today, I’m working on a geologic abstract painting using watercolors and mixed media. I’ll be working with some of my favorite neutrals colors and finishing off the piece with some kintsugi inspired line work using bronze. Beginners are always welcomed and there's no better place to start than here because you don't need to know it all before you get going. (Wink, wink!) So, grab your watercolors and your salt and let’s experiment together!

    Do you ever stop to admire what has already appeared? For instance, at 4:47 an abstract ballerina showed up and then morphed into a dancing demon at 5:04. Your art is simply amazing. I feel calm and happy watching you create such beauty.

      ❤️☺️ Yes, my painting process is slow and mindful. I love observing what is happening with the paint as I move along - isn't it just the most relaxing thing to do?! 🥰 I used to work with fluid acrylics and this is when I fell in love with how water and paint connect and flow together. You seem to have this same kind of wonder and appreciation for what is happening and I appreciate that you made the time to share what you noticed as you were watching me paint 💕 Thank you for your kindness ❤️🤗

    This is such a beautiful picture. I don’t know why I am amazed every week by the way your painting develops and emerges. I should know by now that the final work will have depth, not only in colour and texture, but also in meaning given by your thought processes. I love kintsugi, it is a wonderful reminder that nothing is perfect and imperfections can make something better. Life is full of changes, and it is not easy to accept them. Two years ago I broke my shoulder joint and it will never again be pain free or have a full range of motion. I shall imagine that the titanium repair is more like the golden lines and be grateful for the different things I have done because of that moment. Whatever changes you are facing, I wish you golden lines too. Thank you lovely Gabrielle, I hope your week is full of unexpected good things. Sending you hugs and love B x 💙💫

    This resonated with me so powerfully. I wish I had known the concept of kintsugi 20 years ago when I started going through menopause. I am on the other side of that process (thank heavens) but I think the concept would have been very helpful in dealing with it all. Now I am changed but unbroken and strong and I love the idea that my “cracks” are mended with beautiful gold. Your painting is brilliant and powerful and I love how your kintsugi lines illuminate the dark spaces.

    • @gabrielleannacormierart
      @gabrielleannacormierart  3 місяці тому

      ❤️💕❤️ Changed and unbroken 🥰 YES!!! I sometimes wish we could see all the beautiful ways we are all mended as we travel our life journey. When we speak about our challenges, we give others a chance to see part of our journey and it gives us a chance to understand each other better and connect compassionately with each other. That's such a powerful way to show others our kintsugi. 💕 Thank you for making the time to connect with me in this way! It really means a lot to me 🤗

    The thing with the ruling pen…I think what it could be is that when paint meets paint the surface tension decreases and blobs occur. ❤

      Yes, I agree ☺️ It took me a little while to observe this, but it was a good lesson to learn! Thank you for sharing 🤗

    Beautiful and inspiring! Do you find that some pigments or colours work best with salt?

    • @gabrielleannacormierart
      @gabrielleannacormierart  3 місяці тому +1

      Thank you so much ❤️ Yes, I do think some colors react differently to the salt. For instance, I don't tend to see much happen when I apply salt over granulating colors. But, mostly, I do think it's more a matter of the quality of the paper I use and how damp or wet my paper is when I apply the salt. What has been your experience with this?

      @@gabrielleannacormierart Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. My experience with salt is very random, I should keep notes.

    I just got some new stencils I wanna use. How can I make some textured art paste. I got flour, baking soda,baking powder acrylic paints, watercolors and hot glue sticks. Unfortunately that's the only glue I have, can it be done?

    • @gabrielleannacormierart
      @gabrielleannacormierart  3 місяці тому

      That's an excellent question! And, one I cannot answer, unfortunately, because I have never made my own texture paste. 😉 I've seen people make their own using baby powder, paint and white glue. So, I'm sure it's possible to make your own, but I'm not sure the hot glue sticks would work. 🤔 That type of glue tends to harden again as soon as it cools down so it may not achieve the results you're looking for. Also, if you're going to work with organic ingredients such as flour, keep in mind that whatever you create with it may not stand the test of time. For playful experimenting, I'd give it a try for sure ☺️ Let me know if how it turns out if you do!
