Interesting tip you may not have known about. I figured it out on accident, but..... you can equip TWO pieces of head armor while wearing that bandit mask. It HAS to be the black hood though, not just any two pieces. That's usually what I rock for that ultimate ninja look.
The cape of the black knife armor comes with this boost... "Has the effect of Muffle Sound. This makes it possible to sneak up on enemies while at a full upright sprint." So... unless you REALLY like the look of altering the armor... Consider keeping the buff!!... It's the best stealth buff in the game... and makes most fights easier...
I’m finding it difficult to part ways with the raptor feathers. Even tho I don’t use jump attacks too often the basically free 10% dmg increase is too much for my brain to just let go of. The stealth buff might just be that thing tho, might need to rush snowfield for it.
@@upd0g1 you can always swap between the chest pieces depending on what's more useful. Save for fashion, raptor feathers are only useful in combat and black knife cloak is only useful in stealth/out of combat. That sounds kinda rude now that I've typed it out actually... whatever, basically do whatever you want my guy. Unless you're really going for min maxing or smth there's not really a wrong way to do it

I think it's about the same or a bit stronger than ds3 tho. If I haven't been lied to and it is filled slots and not total equip load it'd be pretty nuts. That'd mean dual rapiers would get the same boost as an ultra with the bullgoat chest piece, and that'd be a bit strong no?
Another option to consider is using Exaulted Flesh for 20% Physical + putting the weapon art version of Golden Vow on a Dagger swap instead of a seal. While a little shorter in duration this lets you put only the bare minimum into faith since you'll be using Int spells or Moonveil and gives you a lot more stats to work with before ng+ levels (180 or less), You should only really need it for bosses or elite enemy's anyway.
Thanks for your comment. I did exactly that. Dagger swap for Golden Vow, minimum faith and arcane. Level 256. Exalted flesh + moonveil + cold uchigatana just tearing through the game.
You can't even use the Moonveil at 50 with your "build" as it requires 23 INT and you only have 22. Additionally, investing in more than the weapons minimum requirements at the early levels does close to nothing, you're better off investing those points in vigor for increased survivability. Same goes for the points spent in mind and endurance, put those in vigor as well. At 100 you'll want to increase INT primarily, as it increases your damage more than going split or only DEX. Starting with the Vagabond, my stats at 50 would look something like this: 35, 10, 11, 16, 18, 23, 9, 7. At 100 it would be: 50, 10, 19, 16, 18, 50, 9, 7. Depending on if you want to use Radagon's Soreseal or not you could even take more points away from STR/DEX and put them somewhere else.
Dexterity + intelligence also works with cold scaling. Power stancing a cold infused Uchigatana in the offhand would be dope. But blood bound step or hoarfrost stomp are far better than chilling mist. If you want to diversify your damage lightning scales with dex. So that in the offhand might be better. Surprised you didn't use the magic scorpion charm.
Just get the dragon scale blade in the lake of rot. Scales primarily with Dex and has a Ice lightning ash that infuses it with frost build for 30 seconds. It has some hyper armor but not much but its a nice weapon if you want to go for a Frost Powerstanced Samurai build with a cold infused Uchigatana. Don't worry too much about INT since your gonna wanna use the Ice Lightning ash to infuse it with frost.
I'm going to preface with that I'm not trying to throw shade at ColdBwoyy's build, I just want to pose an alternate progression for a moonveil build as I think this would be more efficient. Each lvl is mostly just going to say what stats are changed and what to. (if there are any questions I'm happy to answer them) Start Prisoner Base stat requirements to use Moonveil: 12 str, 18 dex, 23 int Lvl50: 38 vig Lvl100: 60 vig, 22 mind, 41 int Lvl150: 20 end, 80 int (the endurance is a personal preferance for my fav gear and stamina pool on this kind of build) Beyond: after 80 int you get very little benefit, so for more damage dump dex up to 80 as well. More mind and vigor never hurts on this kind of build either. I don't reccomend leveling faith as it does barely anything for your damage, but in later ng+ you may want the damage negation spells so maybe go up to 30 faith. Some good talismans I'd recommend: Shard of Alexander, Erdtree's Favor +2, Crimson Amber Medallion +2, Graven-Mass Talisman Physik Flask: Magic-Shrouding Cracked Tear (the other tear can be pretty much whatever you want)

Flame Grant Me Strength isn't going to do much for this build, the duration's not great and it's only going to boost physical damage a little, so I think save your faith investment for last. Some more options for buffing your moonveil damage are: Terra Magica, Exaulted Flesh, Magic-Shrouding Cracked Tear, Bloodboil Aromatic, Magic Scorpion Charm If you're getting desperate for more damage: Golden Vow ash of war, Commander's Standard, Golden Great Arrows (shoot them at your feet), Lord of Bloods Exultation and White Mask with Seppuku, Kindred of Rot's Exultation and Mushroom Crown with raw meat dumplings Idk how many of those stack together or what overrides what, but just some stuff you can try. There's also definitely more you can use than just that, I just don't remember them atm.

Astrologer is best if you do not intend to put any points into Endurance; however, that's not very practical because Astrologer has low Endurance, in which case Prisoner is best, Astrologer and Samurai are joint 2nd, Warrior is 4th and Vagabond is 5th. That assumes you put no points in Faith though. If you want to use Incantations (put even a few points into Faith) then Samurai is best. Vagabond is only best if you want to raise your Strength above the minimum 12 needed to one-hand the Moonveil AND increase Faith. Note that for PvE we are talking about a difference of 1-3 skill points, so every class except Hero and Bandit are fine.
I think it’s dope that you still make videos for this game I hope they make a DLC I would definitely put this together then but I haven’t played in about two months
The night comet can also be charged by the way. This spell got buffed last patch and is absolutely lethal...almost impossible to dodge. So over looked. It can be buffed by Radagon Icon Tailsmen when charged.

I beg of you don’t use this guys stat guide, it’s just wrong, at the lvl 50 build you won’t even have enough stats to use the weapon as you need 23 int just to use the moon-veil. Also the katana needs 18 dex, not 18 mind as he states. Drop the dex to 18 and leave the mind at base. Pump the leftover stats into intelligence and vigour. You’ll actually deal more damage and not get one shot.

I have been using an obviously underutlized katana build for my NG+ run...at the end now, after getting platinum last month. Just dual wielding katanas. My level is in the 260 range. I really like katanas so need to try this out. One stupid question? Can you respec multiple times on a playthrough? I'm at the point where I can respec and have a lot of those larval tears or whatever they're called. New subscriber here really liked your attention to detail and explanations. Can't get enough of this game.
Started out as a samurai. Relied almost exclusively on the Moonveil from Liurnia onwards. Used different combinations along the way, like the Claw mark seal, and the Uchigatana with different Ashes, but the Moonveil is my preferred main weapon.
Nice looking build. I like trying out all the different weapons in the game, but i always seem to catch a build video like this that makes me want to go back to Moonveil. Gotta admit i’ve been sleeping on Carian Piercer. But it looks useful. Great video as always. Thanks!

Nice NG+ build. FYI, that staff does not boost Phalanx but does boost the other sword spells. The carian glintblade staff is the one that boosts carian phalanx

If your wanting to use spells a lot it makes more sense to level int up before dex, dex only increases the physical damage of moonveil int increases damage from your weapon and spells. I would suggest getting int to 80 before worrying about dex unless you don’t care about spells. Great video as always! Keep it up bro!
You can't use Transient Moonlight with the shield on the Off Hand since it overrides the weapon art, and the Buff from the shield only works if you're wielding both, if you decide to two-hand Moonveil the Buff will no longer work
You don't have to raise faith to 25 to use Golden Vow. Just stick the AoW to a "side" Wakizashi and BAM! just saved ya 10 atribute points. You're welcome.
Why is my attribute scaling different compared to the weapons? My moonveil katana is C in Int and D In Dex, do i need to upgrade it first or something?
The moon veil is so overpowered it is a crime... If you have mastered dodging, you can just spam the special attack and destroy any boss very easily.... And the fact the damage scales with Int increases is pure icing on the cake

So STR dont need to be leveled much if youre running dual blades, DEX and whatever else is needed for weapon. More DEX=more dmg without having lots of STR. Am i wrong?
Dont you think adulas moonblade is better than the carian greatsword? Or does it cost too much mana if so ic why the caria greatsword but else i think the icy version is the better choice
Hey bro, if it wasn't changed lately the incantation is way stronger. Approx. 30% more damage boost and also negotiation (15%/10% vs 11.5%/7.5%). Also the duration of the incantation is 80 sec. vs. 45 sec for the ash of war. Cheers.

My Intelligence Wizard is set up similar to this. I am mainly a caster with Carian Regal Sceptor in my right hand, it has a good Ash of War that does silly damage if something gets too close to me, but I also use Dual Moonveil Katanas, Dual Wing of Astel Curved Swords, or a Darkmoon Greatsword. The Dual Moonveil Katanas have a really good moveset, and the Dual Wing of Astel has a killer moveset and the Ash of War melts big bosses like Dragonlord Placidusax and Elden Beast. For fashion my character is an old man "Gandalf" with long gray hair and beard, I wear the Spellblade Hat, Ronin Armor, Warrior Gauntlets, and Carian Knight Greaves. The Sorceries I use varies but I like Swift Glintstone Shard, Night Comet, Comet, Shard Spiral is insane on bigger bosses like dragons, Cannon of Haima, Adulas Moonblade, Glintstone Icecrag, Carian Slicer and Piercer, Terra Magicus, Eternal Darkness, and Comet Azur, some of the Crystal and Gravity Sorceries are nice too. Like I said it varies, but those are my favorites. The talismans also vary, but Graven Mass Talisman, Magic Scorpion, Radagon's Icon, Godfrey's Icon, Green Turtle are among some that I tend to use. That pretty much sums up my Intelligence Wizard Build. Very fun playstyle. I have beat New Game and New Game Plus with it and the other 5 characters I have made. Quality, Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Faith with 3 different build variants, and Arcane for a total of 12 full playthroughs. If I made anymore builds, I'd make a Strength/Intelligence build to use weapons like Ruins Greatsword, Radahn's Greatswords, Fallingstar Beast's Jaw, and Royal Greatsword. Very fun playstyle that I haven't played with much.
The 25 is not even worth it, because moonveil is magic damage and you can get ash of war version of golden vow which is almost the exact same without the faith requirement
This is not a good build guide, never was. If this is your first time playing the game, I suggest just playing through the game and experimenting with different weapons and spells that you find along the way. Most clickbait guides like these on YT are not very good imo. If you really want to look up a beginner build to play, I'd recommend checking out Fextralife's beginner and/or level 50 build guides where he actually shows how character classes start out and how they can evolve into different builds with increasing levels. These don't claim to be the best, or amazing, but they showcase legit gameplay and give you a feel for how different builds would start playing like. Now, most of these are only to get you started and you'd ideally want to experiment and come up with something that suits your playstyle. That is a big part of the fun of the game imo.

@@gamingland2074 you can change your stats after beating Rennala using an item called the Larval tear if you wanna play with the moonveil but want to get more damage out of it and don't wanna spend more time than you need/want to in grinding levels Edit: if you do go for this, you can ask for stat optimisation advice in this thread

I'd also recommend checking out Vaatividya's beginner guide if you haven't already. It explains well the combat basics as well as what your exploration, combat and dungeon crawling gameplay loops would look like
I have tried to get the rays of light from holding L2 and R1 and L2 and R2 and I still get nothing from the Transient Moonlight. It seems kind of pointless at this point.

Absolutly killer build! I love the moonveil. I used it on My first play through and in ng+. Do you guys stop leveling? I am not into pvp, but cant help to wonder if I should have stoppede leveling regardles. My main charcter is 315. So powerfull and fun, and I dont grind, but as i get the runes to level up, I just do it. What do you guys do? And how many ng+ have you done? Ng+3/4/5/6?
What is flame grant me strength supposed to do here? this build doesn't do much physical damage nor fire so I think 25 points in faith for just 15% boost with golden vow is a bit much in early levels, better to spend those point on int also a more op way of using this build is to open fights with Carian Regal Scepter + Ranni's Dark Moon and this will melt boss hp + proc cold + increase magic damage dealt
I am wondering this myself as well. I used Blasphemous Blade for my forst play-through and it melts bosses. I wonder if its worth respeccing into this build at all after the poise nerf in 1.08
@@187roel tbh, I switched to RoB from Moonveil and I see no difference. Since the Blood Buildup was nerfed, it took me 3 L2s to inflict Blood Loss ti fire giant today. Maybe Moonveil was better cuz of its special attack range. Dunno if it was worth It.
@@zdefix Ill start my second playthrough soon as I pretty much completed everything right now. Perhaps ill switch it up later. Only Elden Beast and that two headed hidden dragon gave me a fight with Blasphemous Blade, all the others went down like a ton of bricks including Melania.

I don't think so, you see the lv 50 attributes with 22 intelligent you can't even hold the weapon, and 15 faith to use the flame grant me strength to buffing small amount of physical attack and no fire damage is what a waste, this is just kind of casual player tutorial that misleading people
Uhhh... moonveil scales best with int.. plus sorceries scales with int. You're much better off not pumping dex til late game or ng+ and just pumping int. If you're not using incantations for damage.. no point in pumping faith as you can get just as good or better buffs through other means. You're level 50 stat sheet doesn't even have the required int to wield Moonveil.. 🤔 20 vig at lvl 50 is quite low. 25 is better. Dex should be kept at 18.. 20 if you like 16 mind is plenty.. 100 fp is all you need as that gives you 5 transient moon lights before needing flask. End need to be whatever needed for your equipment load to be med. Strength 12 Faith and arcane whatever your class came with Int = all your remaining points. After 80 pump vigor to 60. Then pump end/dex. Mind if you like.. but really only if you feel like 5 transient Moonlight before flask isn't enough or you just need more healing potions.
Would increasing arcane help with blood loss build up on the moon veil or does that only work for weapons that scale with arcane? Just curious because I was never sue if arcane increases the rate of blood loss build up for all weapons or not

I beat most of my first play through with this type of build! Now I have a build that uses Moonveil and Dark Moon great sword with a bit of Sword of Dark and Flame for fun. I also topped it off with using Rani’s Dark Moon sorcery. Going all out and it’s fun as hell on PVE

Also, you should try Greatblade Phalanx. There's not as many blades, but that sh!T most DEFINITELY staggers enemies. That's why I made the switch.

i agree.. getting faith just for something like that is a waste of resources..
also you can put the golden vow ash on a weapon but make it standard, keen or heavy so you dont even have to level your fth at all

I have 300+ hours on the game, been trying a lot of builds. But I have to admit that moonveil is my absolute favorite weapon. The AOW is so brutal!

You can grab meteoric ore blade super early to hold you over until you get Moonveil.
Also, Prisoner has the best starting stats for a Int/Dex build.

The night comet can also be charged by the way. This spell got buffed last patch and is absolutely lethal...almost impossible to dodge. So over looked. It can be buffed by Radagon Icon Tailsmen when charged.
It's extremely possible to dodge night comet since I used against multiple matches of PvP and multiple people dodged it without no trouble

I beg of you don’t use this guys stat guide, it’s just wrong, at the lvl 50 build you won’t even have enough stats to use the weapon as you need 23 int just to use the moon-veil. Also the katana needs 18 dex, not 18 mind as he states. Drop the dex to 18 and leave the mind at base. Pump the leftover stats into intelligence and vigour. You’ll actually deal more damage and not get one shot.
This build is complete trash. There are several other build guides to follow.

I have been using an obviously underutlized katana build for my NG+ run...at the end now, after getting platinum last month. Just dual wielding katanas. My level is in the 260 range. I really like katanas so need to try this out. One stupid question? Can you respec multiple times on a playthrough? I'm at the point where I can respec and have a lot of those larval tears or whatever they're called. New subscriber here really liked your attention to detail and explanations. Can't get enough of this game.

Started out as a samurai. Relied almost exclusively on the Moonveil from Liurnia onwards.
Used different combinations along the way, like the Claw mark seal, and the Uchigatana with different Ashes, but the Moonveil is my preferred main weapon.
Rivers of blood is also an amazing weapon

Nice NG+ build. FYI, that staff does not boost Phalanx but does boost the other sword spells. The carian glintblade staff is the one that boosts carian phalanx

How well does this work with the last boss in the game ?
If your wanting to use spells a lot it makes more sense to level int up before dex, dex only increases the physical damage of moonveil int increases damage from your weapon and spells. I would suggest getting int to 80 before worrying about dex unless you don’t care about spells. Great video as always! Keep it up bro!

If you go 20 into strength instead of 25 in faith, u can use jellyfish shield for +20% ALL damage with its skill
Yeah, and stick the Golden Vow AoW to a side Wakizashi. It's weaker than the incantation, but you gain a lot of damage while losing a little defense.

You can't use Transient Moonlight with the shield on the Off Hand since it overrides the weapon art, and the Buff from the shield only works if you're wielding both, if you decide to two-hand Moonveil the Buff will no longer work
Adula Moonblade is better than carian greatblade. Same animation, but the blade sends a 15 foot wide band of frost forward as well

Nothing really does tbh. It’s best in slot items.
I use something very similar but I prefer Adulas Moonblade over Powerstancing Katanas with Frost. Also use Magic Scorpion Charm

You don't have to raise faith to 25 to use Golden Vow. Just stick the AoW to a "side" Wakizashi and BAM! just saved ya 10 atribute points.

Why is my attribute scaling different compared to the weapons? My moonveil katana is C in Int and D In Dex, do i need to upgrade it first or something?
Yes, you have to upgrade
The moon veil is so overpowered it is a crime... If you have mastered dodging, you can just spam the special attack and destroy any boss very easily....
And the fact the damage scales with Int increases is pure icing on the cake

The blade portion of the hit scales on both dex and int, the beam portion scales only on int
flame grants me strength is for fire-physical affinity...doesn't apply as much to moonveil AOW

So STR dont need to be leveled much if youre running dual blades, DEX and whatever else is needed for weapon. More DEX=more dmg without having lots of STR. Am i wrong?

Hey bro, if it wasn't changed lately the incantation is way stronger. Approx. 30% more damage boost and also negotiation (15%/10% vs 11.5%/7.5%). Also the duration of the incantation is 80 sec. vs. 45 sec for the ash of war. Cheers.

My Intelligence Wizard is set up similar to this. I am mainly a caster with Carian Regal Sceptor in my right hand, it has a good Ash of War that does silly damage if something gets too close to me, but I also use Dual Moonveil Katanas, Dual Wing of Astel Curved Swords, or a Darkmoon Greatsword. The Dual Moonveil Katanas have a really good moveset, and the Dual Wing of Astel has a killer moveset and the Ash of War melts big bosses like Dragonlord Placidusax and Elden Beast. For fashion my character is an old man "Gandalf" with long gray hair and beard, I wear the Spellblade Hat, Ronin Armor, Warrior Gauntlets, and Carian Knight Greaves. The Sorceries I use varies but I like Swift Glintstone Shard, Night Comet, Comet, Shard Spiral is insane on bigger bosses like dragons, Cannon of Haima, Adulas Moonblade, Glintstone Icecrag, Carian Slicer and Piercer, Terra Magicus, Eternal Darkness, and Comet Azur, some of the Crystal and Gravity Sorceries are nice too. Like I said it varies, but those are my favorites. The talismans also vary, but Graven Mass Talisman, Magic Scorpion, Radagon's Icon, Godfrey's Icon, Green Turtle are among some that I tend to use. That pretty much sums up my Intelligence Wizard Build. Very fun playstyle. I have beat New Game and New Game Plus with it and the other 5 characters I have made. Quality, Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Faith with 3 different build variants, and Arcane for a total of 12 full playthroughs. If I made anymore builds, I'd make a Strength/Intelligence build to use weapons like Ruins Greatsword, Radahn's Greatswords, Fallingstar Beast's Jaw, and Royal Greatsword. Very fun playstyle that I haven't played with much.

All kata builds in Elden Ring eventually converges to being Vergil Sparta. CAMPCOM was genius to have created the DMC series.
So is the 25 Faith only for those two buffs? Seems like a lot of levels to dedicate for a buff that you could probably get from a physic
The 25 is not even worth it, because moonveil is magic damage and you can get ash of war version of golden vow which is almost the exact same without the faith requirement

This is not a good build guide, never was. If this is your first time playing the game, I suggest just playing through the game and experimenting with different weapons and spells that you find along the way. Most clickbait guides like these on YT are not very good imo.
If you really want to look up a beginner build to play, I'd recommend checking out Fextralife's beginner and/or level 50 build guides where he actually shows how character classes start out and how they can evolve into different builds with increasing levels. These don't claim to be the best, or amazing, but they showcase legit gameplay and give you a feel for how different builds would start playing like. Now, most of these are only to get you started and you'd ideally want to experiment and come up with something that suits your playstyle. That is a big part of the fun of the game imo.

@@gamingland2074 you can change your stats after beating Rennala using an item called the Larval tear if you wanna play with the moonveil but want to get more damage out of it and don't wanna spend more time than you need/want to in grinding levels

I have tried to get the rays of light from holding L2 and R1 and L2 and R2 and I still get nothing from the Transient Moonlight. It seems kind of pointless at this point.

You can use the ash of war without the faith req. Not 100% sure if the dmg/def buff and time are exactly the same. That's a wiki check

Absolutly killer build! I love the moonveil. I used it on My first play through and in ng+. Do you guys stop leveling? I am not into pvp, but cant help to wonder if I should have stoppede leveling regardles. My main charcter is 315. So powerfull and fun, and I dont grind, but as i get the runes to level up, I just do it. What do you guys do? And how many ng+ have you done? Ng+3/4/5/6?

this build doesn't do much physical damage nor fire so I think 25 points in faith for just 15% boost with golden vow is a bit much in early levels, better to spend those point on int
also a more op way of using this build is to open fights with Carian Regal Scepter + Ranni's Dark Moon and this will melt boss hp + proc cold + increase magic damage dealt

I am wondering this myself as well. I used Blasphemous Blade for my forst play-through and it melts bosses. I wonder if its worth respeccing into this build at all after the poise nerf in 1.08
@@187roel tbh, I switched to RoB from Moonveil and I see no difference. Since the Blood Buildup was nerfed, it took me 3 L2s to inflict Blood Loss ti fire giant today. Maybe Moonveil was better cuz of its special attack range. Dunno if it was worth It.

Perhaps ill switch it up later. Only Elden Beast and that two headed hidden dragon gave me a fight with Blasphemous Blade, all the others went down like a ton of bricks including Melania.

I don't think so, you see the lv 50 attributes with 22 intelligent you can't even hold the weapon, and 15 faith to use the flame grant me strength to buffing small amount of physical attack and no fire damage is what a waste, this is just kind of casual player tutorial that misleading people
how about howl of shabriri? it inreases damage also but you are also more likely to get hit and there is also the madness buildup

Uhhh... moonveil scales best with int.. plus sorceries scales with int. You're much better off not pumping dex til late game or ng+ and just pumping int. If you're not using incantations for damage.. no point in pumping faith as you can get just as good or better buffs through other means. You're level 50 stat sheet doesn't even have the required int to wield Moonveil.. 🤔
20 vig at lvl 50 is quite low. 25 is better.
Dex should be kept at 18.. 20 if you like
16 mind is plenty.. 100 fp is all you need as that gives you 5 transient moon lights before needing flask.
End need to be whatever needed for your equipment load to be med.
Strength 12
Faith and arcane whatever your class came with
Int = all your remaining points. After 80 pump vigor to 60. Then pump end/dex. Mind if you like.. but really only if you feel like 5 transient Moonlight before flask isn't enough or you just need more healing potions.
Would increasing arcane help with blood loss build up on the moon veil or does that only work for weapons that scale with arcane? Just curious because I was never sue if arcane increases the rate of blood loss build up for all weapons or not

Now I have a build that uses Moonveil and Dark Moon great sword with a bit of Sword of Dark and Flame for fun.
I also topped it off with using Rani’s Dark Moon sorcery. Going all out and it’s fun as hell on PVE
