Also, protip: If the enemy is stationary, don't just click-attack them with cannons. Instead, target the ground in front of the unit you want to hit, preferably close to the center of said unit. The canonballs will probably skip and kill a few enemies with each shot. Also, if you micro it right, you can do the same thing with cannister shot when the enemy is very close. That makes for some absolutely devastating volleys.
Yeah I've been doing this against the cavalry when I can. I should do it more for infantry too.
This technique will give a great boost to cannister shot efficiency because the AI aims at the edges of the enemy unit, rather than the center.
@@Hunter_312 I remember having to do that in my previous playthough so thanks for the reminder.
@@Hunter_312 Seeing as how the game has a mechanic for units taking flank damage tied to their morale (as with all TW titles), perhaps the AI is onto a good thing by aiming for the edges of a unit rather than the center? Because when a unit takes heavy casualties to men on it's flank it's morale drops faster.
@@UltimaPowers Well, the AI ends up missing a lot, but maybe the morale penality makes it worth it. Who knows?
I've never watched or heard of this game but loved the first episode.
Hope you continue to enjoy!
This will be interesting as i just started a prussia last night and started the same as you. Holding poland makes it hard when astria, bavaria, and westphalia leaves you with less troops to respond.
Do I really want to start a year long series with nearly 100 episodes? Of course I do.
Hello Vulcan, that was a GREAT siege battle...I almost think you have lost the battle, but your SUPERB forces deal with the Austrian reinforcements. Keep up the GOOD work!! 😄👍
I got into this game after seeing Many A true Nerd play it. You play it completely differently. Takes a great game to handle such different playstyles and still be fun and challenging.
Couldn't agree more!
If you want to squeeze the most money out of a conquered province, don't exempt them from taxation unless you are sure the exemption will prevent a revolt.
If that is not the case there is no reason whatsoever to spare them from paying their bills.
It however can save you money if the tax income from that city is low. If you notice on the spread sheet there is a line for town watch or something like that... that line item goes way up if a cities public order is way low. Not sure why empire mechanics work like they do... but exempting taxes will lower the town watch expense for recently captured regents with terrible public order
@@jacobpgood724 because lower taxes equal happier population, which means you don’t need to pay for a larger town watch.
I usually balance my budget each round by checking the tax rate vs public order, set it as high as possible, which may need I need to exempt one or two regions from tax, but if overall the income is great enough, it is worth it
Loving the vid!! Favorite empire faction.
Glad to hear it!
Unlike in Napoleon, cannons in Empire can only disable guns and walls beyond their nominal range; and not kill men or horses .
However this can be a devastating tactic against AI artillery. If your guns are firing at about 110% of range, and ideally from a height, they can be quite effective at disabling AI guns while not being targeted in turn by the AI. This does mean targeting ground in front of the opposing guns instead of the guns themselves, and works best when targeting ground at about 80-90% of nominal range so the round-shot "skips" into the target.
Also, Uhlans always have a really low Defense stat in compensation for their great Charge bonus, so should be cycle-charged rather than left in melee after contact.
Hey, you might want to lower taxes for the lower classes early in the game. This will not only help with public order, but I will also help your towns grow and cities get more wealth. More wealth=more taxes from the middle classes. Also, keep an eye on your cabinet, because although you don't need to worry that much about pleasing the lower classes (since you're not an absolute monarchy) having good ministers will still help your economy imensely.
Prussia is an absolute monarchy, which I think is a huge advantage in this game in terms of the flexibility you have with selecting and retaining your cabinet
@@jacobpgood724 So it is. It's been a while since I played, so I thought it as a Constitutional. And yes, keeping the shit politicians out your cabinet is essential. People with the wrong traits/skills levels will make you loose a lot of money and keep the lower classes constantly unhappy.
@@Hunter_312 I've only played as Prussia 3 or 4 times so its ingrained in me by now lol. It's a fun challenging campaign
@@jacobpgood724 I think Prussia was the first campaign I did on hard, a few years ago. It's really challenging but also rewarding.
Surprised you kept the college in the Warsaw province. I always destroy the school specifically in the capital so that I have to spend less time with troops in the city for public order and can use them elsewhere.
u might want to try some trade ships as they generate loads of revenue if u can avoid the pirates
Just another tidbit, if you dont want a nations allies to join them against you- like Austria for example- if you would have unchecked "call on allies" neither sides allies will be involved in that instance. Just fyi
That's only if they are the aggressor
24:00 apparently during that period, there were a lot of gibbets on display to the point people would be overcome with the smell.

Oh, and get a few grenadiers in every army. They have ridiculous melee stats and grenades, of course, which makes them the best men for storming forts.
Poland ends up having like 6-7 rebellions once you take it lol
Yup, sounds about right.

Empire does not show damage to city walls on the campaign map but the walls ARE damaged. Also you cannot repair city walls, so either upgrade them or tear them down and rebuild them. It's an annoying quirk of Empire but it means Breslau isn't as secure as you think.
Ideally, you should try and capture cities, which run the risk of being attacked, without damaging the walls.
Wait really so if canons fuck up a wall it’s stays like that ??????
Odd newb question: where can I see a units health?! xddd
You can't, it's just the number of men that's shown. When men get shot or stabbed, they die.
@@VulcanTotalWar uh ok, now I understand why batallions can die so fast.
2 words.... Darth Mod
Not a fan of how long Darth Mod campaigns take, especially for world domination.
@@VulcanTotalWar true enough. good luck with prussia
