I'm having fun watching this, and seeing an entirely different way of playing Prussia than I have used. Unlike those factions with a starting position in the Caribbean, where I regard a blitz start is *de rigeur*, as Prussia I've always madly built my economy the first few turns while awaiting the attack by Poland and Austria; then crushed them on the counter attack. I look forward to seeing how your Blitzkrieg works for Prussia. While admitting that I don't use *cold steel* enough with my infantry, I believe you are using it way too much. When your infantry has a fire rate and accuracy advantage (as against militia), and you've got a two-on-one, losses are much reduced by just firing away until they break. Bayonet melees will always be bloody for both sides unless it actually forces a break upon or immediately after contact. Your "Grand Tactical" maneuver at 28:00 is a GREAT way to deal with small marauders, as you stumbled upon. It works great for "cutting out" enemy fleets from port as well. Finally, another tactic for using your cavalry and general, particularly against Armed Citizenry and other low morale *mobs*, is to cycle-charge the cavalry to Break units and follow up with your general to Shatter them.
I think you get a diplomatic penalty for taking many settlements in a row and it decays quite slowly. 'Harsh Reputation' and 'Status Quo' are pretty bad traits for absolute monarchies. It is very important to take big cities and Military Governor's Enchampments quickly to prevent the enemy from recuiting good units. And yeah, Empire is very generous with Heroic Victories for some reason. But that last battle definitely was one.
A Harsh Reputation is acceptable in a Justice Minister if paired with Sybarite, Jughead, or Bon Vivant, making the net Lower Class penalty 0. It is quite possible to acquire a Cabinet with +5 or better in Lower Class bonuses over the first 6 or 8 turns.
@@pietergeerkens6324 Yeah, but I don't like to keep people with these traits around, feels like a waste of a cabinet slot. Unless they are way too good at one or more positions.
@@Hunter_312 The big gain is when Justice Minister hits 7 stars with no Lower Class penalty. I will take a Justice Minister merely neutral on Lower Class who is 6 stars or better (and in the early game 4 stars or better) while building up the easier portfolios. Time enough to wait for an ideal Justice Minister that one can then keep for 50 or 60 turns.
And protip: The cutoff point for unit destruction seems to be about 80%. Meaning that if you kill 80% of an enemy unit and win the battle, that unit should die in the campaign map as well.
Incorrect. There are two criteria: 1) The unit retreated off the field after the enemy general died. Units that retreat off the field merely Broken will survive unless they fail the criteria below. 2) Additionally, no unit at less than 6% of nominal strength (it's strength when spawned, so 10 for 160-man units on Ultra Unit Size) at conclusion of battle ever survives.
@@pietergeerkens6324 I thought the general dying was a given. Since it's been like that in other TW's. As for the number itself, yeah mea culpa. Should have done some proper testing.
You Tube love those comments so here we go. And a bit sad you ain't playin on ultra unit scale. And Darth Mod... I'm suuuuure you never heard that before... ;) Still loving the series, alrdy waiting for #4. Cheers!!
Empire is unplayable for me without Darthmod, it's simply finishing touch game needs. As much as I love shogun2 same goes for it as well, Moss and Darthmod simply finish what devs started
Says a lot about the AI battle map when that army was just running in circles the entire fight and when they finally got into position, they didn't shoot. Not taking away from your strategy, because I probably would have lost the battle - but it's disappointing lol
So glad that there are still people playing this classic game

@@pietergeerkens6324 That's fair.
When a nation declares war on you uncheck the "call allies" box and their allies 100% will not join... that turn anyway
I really want to see what happens the moment your blitzkrieg is halted because of everything. LOL.
Definitely getting a bit overextended!

I always thought it was 90%
@@VulcanHDGaming It might be something in between, too. I did some testing a ways back, but it was hardly scientific. Haha
