Hi Mike! You made my day. I was just thinking about being glued to your AT hike watching every video, and missing your Journey and insight on the trail. I was wondering if you were coming back. And now you show us another aspect of your incredible life, boating. Your a natural with Vlogs, and your presentation about your sail boat, the history of the area, and your trip was amazing. I hope you share in the future the history of the boat and your journey to get it in this shape. Thank you for coming back to us, and please keep the videos coming. Be Strong, Be Safe, and thanks for taking us on this journey.
Great video. Only thing I knew about Annapolis was that the US Naval Academy was there. So thanks for showing me around and teaching me what the town has to offer. I'm unable to travel like I'd like so I'm traveling vicariously through you. Thanks for taking me along. Take care and stay safe.
Thank you for another great video. Navigating has sure changed, auto pilot! Beautiful boat, and appropriate name. Great tours too. Thank you for taking us along. Keep the sails up and the keel down.
Really enjoyed this video. Loved the tour of everything and learning more , and refreshing my memory of some, of the history there. So glad to have you back on here! Maybe you can introduce your wife to us! Safe travels🙏🏼
Mike, this is the Old Man on River View Circ le in Reno. Laurie dropped a missed placed package at my door last night so we caught up on family news. Thanks for the American Navy information. Old Man on Riverview
Lauri told me she went over to your house. Glad you two were able to catch up and that you are doing well. Lauri should join me on the boat in September if all goes as planned.
Loved this video. Have sent it to my 89-year-old father in Ireland, who visited the naval base Norfolk in 1961, when serving in the Royal Navy. I will be in Washington DC with my daughter in December to celebrate her graduation from high school here in 🇦🇺 and will try and persuade her to come with me to Annapolis!
What a great video! I learned so much about Annapolis and history. A fun port of call indeed. Still laughing over the very clever name of your boat, and looking forward to the next video! Sail on!!
She's a beautiful ship! Grateful to your wife for the history hunting you showed in this video, Annapolis looks like a beautiful place. Have a wonderful week! Looking forward to your next video.
That was a great tour!! Thank you! Those were some QUICK tours of gorgeous towns........I'm wondering if you could maybe linger just a little longer on the beauty of those historic buildings??
Good point . I was attempting to balance what I wanted to show while keeping the video length down. In the future, I will attempt to focus on fewer topics but delve into each more.
@oldmanandtheat3093 you truly do a FABULOUS JOB on your videos! (I watched all of your Appalachian Trail videos and loved them too). You do a fabulous job on balancing subjects. Just maybe a few seconds longer on those magnificent buildings. There is SO MUCH HISTORY there. It's breathtaking!!!!
Great video Mike. I loved the history you shared. Your boat is beautiful! Is that a little wind generator you have on it? And, love the name of the boat! It’s perfect!!
Great Video, Thank You for taking time, it was beautifuly shot, well spoken, and historical that many would not get without people like you taking the time. I am a Idaho Mountain Man, with ties to pre-revolution history through that end of our history. I am almost ready for a transition in life, where I am looking to retire to the Ocean for a while. I have done some Lake Sailing on small craft, but nothing to the knowledge of the sea. I am looking at boats now, namely the Hans Christian, or Tayana, and trying to find starting pointers for where to start my sprouts for sea legs. Any info you can give on where the best place to start to the first steps I will need to take before ferrying whatever ship I may purchace to gain safe passage to a sailing school, would be insightful.... I look forward to more of your content,, and happy I caught you early in this chapter of your life. GODBless, and Safe Passages.
Thank you for the kind words. To your question. First, learn as much as you can. Read books, watch videos, ask questions. Second, at some point, make the jump to the new life. Find a boat that suits your needs and buy it. There is no qucker way to learn about a boat than to own one. To let you in on a secret, sailing is easy compared to everything that goes into maintaining a boat. Picking the right boat is a whole topic by itself. A possible interim step would be to volunteer on someone else's boat, but that might not be a viable option for you, given your distance from the water. Good luck and keep me posted on how your doing.
by the way, you look a lot younger then me, so you may one day have to relenquish that title of Oldman. hahahahaha... Just jokeing,, you probably just aged better.
yeah,, gunna make the jump,, have a friend who, I always looked up to growing up in a Olymipic Production Ski Town of the 50's, 60's and 70's in Idaho, who is now a Captain of her own Vessel in Florida, and I will, get boat soon, and hit her up, with a proposition of use of the boat for charter, after I purchase, several months of Summer, and Several of Winter, if she will mentor me to be a safe Captain, and hope she will want to take time off once in a while to sail, wherever the Bow Points.
Where’s your first mate. The Black Pearl is back at Maryland marina. New management, fewer boats. Son lives on her during the summers. We love the Chesapeake Bay. Lou&Nancy

and yes, although she did not go to the Olympics herself, had she, she would have taken several events in Skiing.

Lauri is in Reno looking after her mom. If all goes well, she will join me for a month in September.
