Mike, welcome back to the trail. I too am an Army veteran of 30 years (retired SGM), and 62 years old. I live about an hour south of the AT trail head and would love to offer to pick you guys up at the airport, take you to pick up supplies, or provide a place to crash upon arrival. Best of luck to you and your son. I can't think of a better place to bond with your son than on the trail.

I think it's awesome you're starting in April. I started March 20th in 2022, but plan to start in April for my next thru of the AT (hopefully next year.) Like you said, avoid most of that bad weather early starters deal with.

What a wonderful way to finish off your hiking adventures, Energizer! Of course, you might not end them! I hope you do some more sailing adventures as well--or maybe biking or whatever else! Your adventures inspire!

Fantastic news. Maybe your CDT trail family can make some special guest appearances. I would love to see an update on how they are doing.

March starts for a thru are nuts. I started April 20th.

Hike while you can. Do all the etc while you can! I have a whole list of things I did. In my now time I have a power chair that does a 25degree incline and 12 miles and 4 mph! And for fun I chase a 80 yr old retired Army guy. We specialize in telling our stories, of all the places we have lived, all the wonderful people we have met. I just subscribed to you. The PTSD stuff is real.

Great to hear that you are videoing another long hike. I watched your CDT hike last year and enjoyed the quality of your video's and being able to experience the CDT remotely. Since I live in CT let me know when you will be passing thru and I will meet you and buy you and your son a beer.....Al

Wow. What a great new video to wake up to this morning. I have followed you on all of your thru hikes and was a little down after you finished the CDT. Hoping for a “what’s next” announcement. And here we are. I live in Jasper Georgia and am about 40 mins from Springer Mountain. Let me know if you need any help with logistics or transportation and I would be delighted to try to help out.

There’s trail family and trail with family. Subtle distinction, not mutually exclusive. Can’t wait to follow along, and maybe post up with homecooked food, beer, and a resupply of dehydrated biscuits and gravy and whatnot once you get to more Northern turf. I thru hiked the AT in 2022. When did you start and finish? Never mind, you answered the question. I summited August 21. I do magic in Orford, N.H. Maybe I'll meet you there. Burgers, dogs and beer.

Jason and did those trails in PV in November. Loved going to BOCA and doing the trail to the secret beaches. I made a UA-cam video of it also .
