Man, so many people are calling Starbound a cheap Terraria clone. You can tell it was made with a lot of effort. Just accept the fact it's it's own game.

Then they took a different direction in same genre. Don't start your ''oh look but its different''. I am not blind, i can see it.
well, when I fought bone dragon, dunno was that fight recently streightened, I just play now while the video is almost a year old. Anyway, it was much harder: not because of the boss itself - it's same weakling as in this video. But hordes of cultists were everywhere waves by waves, not just at the end of fight as it's shown here. Meanwhile all other bosses were same easy, if you don't care of no-damage run. "Easy" my ass. That fucking eye laser kept killing me if the blobs of flesh didn't get me first. That's if I even got to the boss at all, and didn't die from the radioactive stone shit.

One way you can touch up on Dreadwing: the Tesla's Wrath has a beautiful special attack that allows you to chain multiple hits together for slightly less damage and a huge energy cost per target. The thing Chucklefish missed is that this does not stay on the same fire rate lock with the normal fire, meaning that you can get effectively double fire rate if you alternate shooting normal-special-normal-special and so on. This will help you defeat the boss more quickly, reducing your chances of being hit. Also, a fun tip for the Erchius Horror is that you can block his beam with your shield. Great video! Good luck hunting.

My main problem with Starbound is its size. I'll put it as simply as I can: There are, of course, tons of planets per game. The problem is that they're not very varied. There are about 7 tiers of planet, each with 1-3 different types. While that sounds like a lot, it becomes boring and repeated over time. The game is, simply put... almost too big and too small at the same time. The story is relatively bland for me, and the game generally doesn't offer a whole lot. The game is fun, but yeah, not exactly good. EDIT: Not to mention that quite a few of the boss fights (Kluex Avatar, etc.) go too slowly for an action-adventure-space game. FFS, the whole first phase of the Kluex fight is just hitting him and standing on platforms.
Squazzil True, though the game has a pretty active modding community, many of the mods add quite a bit to the planet variety, and the addition of things like mini-biomes and sub-biomes goes a ways to vary up the planets a fair amount too, like coming across a steam-punk area on an ice planet, or a lush plain in a mostly molten planet... That the race that makes everything out of wood lives on for some reason. Their houses still burn down in the fire.
I partly agree. I think with this tons of planets there should be way more variety and maybe even more tiers to do to I mean there are millions of different blocks and stuff the planet can be made off but after like visiting a galaxy of each difficulty you basically know everything there is to see. I mean yeah you can always look out for more treasure and stuff like that but it gets boring after the story. I'm not exactly sure how to put it. I mean I really, really love starbound I'd just wish that there would be more .. to see? More reasons to explore more planets? I don't think there has ever been anyone who has seen more than what? Fifty planets maximum? Because why explore more? It would be fun if you'd actually have to search for the ruin or if there would be a center of all these planet. Some very rare ones? Black holes? Exploreable (non dead) moons?
It really feels like, at some point, Chucklefish started building Starbound around the story, _including_ the sandbox aspect. There's enough planetary variety to satisfy anybody just playing the Protectorate's way, but if you start playing the game as a sandbox, you'll eventually realize that there's not as much variety as you would have thought, or liked. Things very much start to get samey, and the way the role of Hero is forced onto you when you talk to Esther kind of kills the exploration aspect, as the game just becomes "look for what you need to progress".
did you know you can flick all 4 switches of the Erchius Horror without aggroing it? you have to hug the walls and you can't fire the cannon without aggroing it, but it makes the fight much quicker
I remember fighting Big Ape with all the Liberty Prime voice clips from Fallout 3 playing on loop in the background. That was fun. "COMMUNISM IS THE VERY DEFINITION OF FAILURE!"
For a moment, I wondered if this was Starbound... until I remembered how many mods I had installed. I remember this one mod I had changed the character portraits to be more painting-like. It was really beautiful.
Hmm, this looks really slow to me. I think I finally get why I could never get into Starbound. I couldn't name the reason, thinking I just didn't like the sci-fi compared to Terraria fantasy, but it seems it's the gameplay that I disliked. Everything here is so slow and methodical. The fights are without excitement and repeat patterns as it's more of a puzzle game at that point. I'm sure Starbound is a good game, it's just not for me.
@HamburgersAndBeer actualy more people play without mods then with mods.due to fact that there is something to do in game.but starbound is only playable with mods...and skyrim is great ^)
Ya know I never understood why your death in the ending wasn't taken so well. Unless you were on hardcore mode you'd just come back to life again as there is nothing about the Ruin that'd inhibit that.
Not only the projectiles. The whole is game coded awfully. Dont get me wrong, the game is awesome, but the devs didnt spend enough time in making this game playable for everyone. There are so many bugs and I have only 20 FPS. :(
Near impssible?lmao u can do both of them without taking damage without having any difficultys(maybe moon lord would be lil bit tough, but not impossible).
I feel like not many know this but you can use the perfect timing shield thing where the shield takes no damage when you time a perfect block to zip right past the lasers so you don't have to wait for them to move out of your way
have you fought the bosses in terraria??? literally every boss there has a "charge at you" attack... so honestly the bosses are much better here with fancier attacks than "shoot laser" or "charge at you" or "spray some minions"

it most definatly is, though if you don't want to leave it to luck there's a bunch of options to insta kill them moonlord included
yep i belive one of his drops correct me if im wrong can insta kill him in 4 hits since insta kills are just using the strongest gear using it to 1 shot the boss or multi shot him if it is needed to multi kill the boss like moon lord and using it easily avoids trouble but 1 prob you get it from moon lord and remember dont forget to correct me if im wrong
With slimve statues it wont work cuz you have to take dmg from slimes
Damn that was some good positioning on the ixodoom fight like the poison would've hit you but you dashed backwards and got the perfect postion
What’s your favorite character everyone? Mines is Nuru.
Dude! That screaming sound of the Erchius Horror was... Creepy!!!
i thought no one played this anymore :')
i was literally just playing this
thomas the skank engine hmu on steam vechies
IDK KNOW MAN JUST KILL ME
I have played this game for 3,886 hours as of 05/08/2020.
My main problem with Starbound is its size. I'll put it as simply as I can:
There are, of course, tons of planets per game.
WAIT, In the final image in the credits there´s Nuru and Koichi Taken hand in hand? or... idk some of my illusions
how many astra nox trys did it take for you to no damage?
did you know you can flick all 4 switches of the Erchius Horror without aggroing it? you have to hug the walls and you can't fire the cannon without aggroing it, but it makes the fight much quicker
I remember fighting Big Ape with all the Liberty Prime voice clips from Fallout 3 playing on loop in the background. That was fun.
"COMMUNISM IS THE VERY DEFINITION OF FAILURE!"
Had no idea the game has an ending now! Amazing!

For a moment, I wondered if this was Starbound... until I remembered how many mods I had installed. I remember this one mod I had changed the character portraits to be more painting-like. It was really beautiful.
Earthbound
Starbound
Windbound
Coming Soon
FireBound
WaterBound
LightBound
DarkBound
Don't forget a game also made by Chucklefish
Spellbound.
at 22:21 it kind of bothers me that Esther doesn't react to the resurrection of you, as if she knew for some reason...
I miss Starbound ... I cant play it cuz my laptop broke 😢😥
Same thing...
The Swansong, the True Last Secret Boss is litterally impossible to no-hit
Hmm, this looks really slow to me. I think I finally get why I could never get into Starbound. I couldn't name the reason, thinking I just didn't like the sci-fi compared to Terraria fantasy, but it seems it's the gameplay that I disliked. Everything here is so slow and methodical. The fights are without excitement and repeat patterns as it's more of a puzzle game at that point. I'm sure Starbound is a good game, it's just not for me.
People in this comment section saying it's a terraria clone when starbound is it's own game with terraria's art style and a good storyline?
Terraria=like
Starbound=comment
I like terraria more, its my fav game :3
@HamburgersAndBeer if game needs mods to be good.its trash
@HamburgersAndBeer actualy more people play without mods then with mods.due to fact that there is something to do in game.but starbound is only playable with mods...and skyrim is great ^)
4:47 hitting something that's electrified with a spear. Yeah, smart move in real life.
Furi is a good game you should try.
Connor Taylor Sure it is,PLAY FURI GELLOT
Connor Taylor I beat the star in furi mode. I stopped playing about halfway through furier because of sniper bitch
i almost Quit at that point.
she also made me quit for a while. she's such a bitch
furi is best game ever
Wow... I never imagined I would see a no-hit of Starbound....
Welp, that's Gellot for ya!
How about a minecraft no-hit sometime? :) You know; Elder Guardian, Wither, and Ender Dragon.
@@JayStarPlays SB737 did an entire no damage run of all bosses ON HARDCORE.
Holy shit this must've been harder than a man in the morning!
At the Dreadwing boss make Sure YOU HAVE More than 100 armor or else you'll die at the first attack or I should say the crashing one
I use my shield to block it.
you should do Terrarria next :D
I remeber when i played this years ago i grinded the shit out of astra nox cuz i really wanted his sword and it felt so amazing when i got it.
i thought starbound bosses were more...fast-paced. not this super slow and kinda boring bs. imma go back to watching Hollow Knight no hits now.
Well, he's abusing the mechanics to a certain degree, so of course it's gonna be boring to look at.
Game mechanics are meant to be abised
Ya know I never understood why your death in the ending wasn't taken so well. Unless you were on hardcore mode you'd just come back to life again as there is nothing about the Ruin that'd inhibit that.
I think the story was written in a way that implies you only have one life.
Then again failing npc quests says otherwise...
So if I have to comment just one thing out of many, it's going to be this:
Seriously? Human? That's your choice?
I find that getting crew is a quick way to beat Asra Nox, if you get them good armor to survive that beam attack, which you need a Tailor to do.
meh i hate that "lag"... that game develop must fix it asap :T
Heart of Ruin looks so sad with it being attacked and the Sad Music also What the Eye looks like too. And when it blows up also.
bone dragon hardest boss ever
Wow! Gellot I didn`t know one could be so good at Starbound
Projectiles are so buggy in starbound --
Not only the projectiles. The whole is game coded awfully. Dont get me wrong, the game is awesome, but the devs didnt spend enough time in making this game playable for everyone. There are so many bugs and I have only 20 FPS. :(
+Brixxter Lo if you have 20 fps your pc just sucks plain and simple lmao.
Totally Not Earth haha
no
Gellot: *fights erchius horror without touching the lasers*
Me with 2 shields: "is that what they call ancient methods?"
i dare you to do terraria boss fights with no damage
A Person on the internet That's near impossible with bosses like The Twins and mainly Moonlord.
thats the joke
Well, You could do it damageless if your that one guy who does that 2 tick insta kill crap!
oh yeah lol
Near impssible?lmao u can do both of them without taking damage without having any difficultys(maybe moon lord would be lil bit tough, but not impossible).
I feel like not many know this but you can use the perfect timing shield thing where the shield takes no damage when you time a perfect block to zip right past the lasers so you don't have to wait for them to move out of your way
my favourite part was when he took no damage
How did you zoom out when fighting Dreadwing? I can't see half of what's happening when I'm fighting it :S
i expected so much more from this game, but the bosses are kinda bad, sorry :/
They're adding the ability to pilot ships in a more legit manner, that and they added terraforming a few months back.
I think they're fun. Plus it kind of adds a retro perspective of older NES games and such with how the bosses have patterns, which is cool :P
patrick Ramos I mean you dont really play it for the bosses but ok
have you fought the bosses in terraria??? literally every boss there has a "charge at you" attack... so honestly the bosses are much better here with fancier attacks than "shoot laser" or "charge at you" or "spray some minions"
this isn't terraria.
*Kills Kluex avatar *
