@Alejandro Moreno S. There was a lot of crap that happened in the 60s and 70s, but generally the crap gets weeded out over time, so we don't have to listen to it. Same thing with the 80s. We tend to forget all of the shitty music of that decade and focus on the good stuff, which is great and how it should be. Taking an objective view however, we need to see that every decade has both its ups and downs. Also, there have been some huge technological and societal shifts. You simply can't have a huge band anymore. Nirvana was the last. They happened before the internet became mainstream. Now anybody can record and publish music worldwide. We also don't have our music spoonfed to us like we did prior to the internet. Add that with age, and it's easy to just file things away and say that everything sucked after the mid-90s. Of course they did from a limited perspective. We got old and it became more difficult to find the good music amongst the crap.

+Jscots Yeah that's true..... Weird Science is a great film but unfortunately I was born in 1995 and I have always wanted to go to the 80's because the stories my parent's and other family members have told me it sound like the 80's were perfect and I know all 80's music is great which would go great with it....... such a shame I can't go back in time I would love it :D
DNF Danninetyf I think the 80s has a lot of fond memories due to the US starting to recover from the Vietnam War, the end of disco, and the rebirth of US economic and projected strength. The 80s was the block of time where individuals seem to focus on just having fun, making money, and living life to the fullest. The term "yuppies" were used in conjunction with those individuals who sought to get ahead and make a better life for themselves and their kids. If you grew up during the 80s then this mindset also was carried over during the 90s and continued through to the 21st century. The movies, music, and mindset was one of fun. Was the 80s completely void of horror and sadness? No, there was plenty of terrorism, acts of violence, a surge of gang related killings, jump in narcotics from Latin America, the constant fear of a potential nuclear war with the Soviets....etc. What I remember about the 80s that there was no problem if you said that you were "proud to be an American". Being pro-America, America Number 1, America first and foremost....etc were common themes, there was a wide majority that wanted America to be successful in everything and anything that we became involved with. Sports, business, world affairs, etc. Was it always the right course of action? No, but like I said, the Vietnam War, radical revolution, mass protests, a shift in the idea of the "American nuclear family", surges in divorce rates, etc. America was attempting to heal from several years of intense anger and resentment from both sides of the political beliefs. The 80s as a kid and teenager were awesome and if we only knew what we were going to endure after the start of the 21st century I would have wanted the 80s to hang around just a few more years of enjoyment.
i love the 80s even though i was born in the 2000s. New Order, English Beat, even Falco is the shit. i was born in the wrong time. i dont care about growing up in the greatest technological time i want to live in a fun time like the 80s.

Why does Dave Wakeling still sound like a freaking radio edit whenever he sings this song live? Could he even be more amazing? Like, not only is he quite literally the sweetest guy ever, his talent is absolutely timeless! Man, I’m so proud to be his lifelong fan!!!!
@@ChristianChase1 Really? Tell! I just saw him last night at the Tupelo in Derry NH. Unfortunately Tenderness was not a success. I don’t know who, or how many of the band started off wrong but they never were able to correct it. The rest? Brilliant!
CLUELESS ? Anyone ? Better still, WEIRD SCIENCE ? Anyone ? Beautiful, Uplifting song; 'tenderness' really is the word ! The UK in the 80's was Heaven, despite what people say about Thatcher !
I remember I was in my early 40s, 15 years ago now, I was in a gas station shop and this was playing and I could not stop myself from singing it and dancing up and down the aisles. The young woman at the counter couldn’t stop smiling. She thought it was delightful, watching me

+Prycilla Almaguer I first heard it when it came out 30 years ago and I was a junior in high school. I loved it instantly and still do. Prycilla, you have great taste in music!
I lived in central America in 1997. This song was played in some of the clubs down in Guatemala during that time. Imagine a young naive white boy from Texas in a club in a Guatemalan mayan town listening to this. Man have I lived a weird life!
This girl came to house and we watched Clueless (my first time watching it) and it was so awkward and just a complete failure. I remember she left before the movie even finished and I just sat there listening to this song as the credits rolled and thinking... Wow, this movie is Great!
Imagine in my college town #1 party school in the nation in my time! Walking down or through the college frats and bars on a Friday afternoon till sundown and beyond and hearing all this coming out of all the parties, just blasting! 6 frats, 5 sorities , it was heaven. People packed and dancing, overflowing into the street, the 5 bars that were there..ahhhhh take me back, take me back , take me way, way way way back!lol Chico CA
The 80’s wasn’t a decade. It was an emotion.
And the only decade of true music and artists before slagdonna ruined it with S/A/W.
Damn, you described the best decade of my life. High school, Army, then College in the 90s which rolled into Nirvana/NiN/Pearl Jam.
Agreed! Why do most 80s songs bring such emotions, namely happiness, to mind? They captured the feelings more than most modern songs 🤩🤩

locked in our own versions of reality unfortunately much too easily and our egos keep us locked up , i’m my own worst prison guard
The end of Clueless. Paul Rudd is kissing Alicia Silverstone . Lucky guy
And at the end of weird science when anthony michael hall kisses the blonde girl nobody
Megan Melonas just heard this song was in that movie that I haven’t seen.

Best Song Ever! Brings so much joy!! RIP Roger and thank you
La encontré 😃 y con ella volvieron mis recuerdos hermoso 💗 tema generación única 80 y 90 saludos la mejor
This is truly an original song that sounds like no other and is timeless!!
Why does Dave Wakeling still sound like a freaking radio edit whenever he sings this song live? Could he even be more amazing? Like, not only is he quite literally the sweetest guy ever, his talent is absolutely timeless! Man, I’m so proud to be his lifelong fan!!!!
FACTS! He bought me dinner last time i saw him LOL :)
She thought it was delightful, watching me
RIP Roger, your track “tenderness” was such a beautiful song!!!!!
Great 80's song. Godspeed, Raking Rodger. The world will forever remember you, and your contributions to all.
Music with style to dance all nigth. 80's forever
Perfect duo...almost identical voices......the contrast.........English beat was rad........ra king roger invented ska dancing......before the specials......R.I.P. my brother.......you were a bigger star then u realized
I swear....the 80’s had the best of everything
RIP Roger Charlery (Ranking Roger) 1963-2019
I am so thankful I was able to see them in concert. They are such great singers, performers and truly bring smiles to your face.
I, too, was so fortunate to see them in concert in the 80's. I wish I still had my General Public t-shirt and wish Rankin' Roger was still with us😢
Words are cheap but they can turn out expensive. What a great line ❤
RIP Ranking Roger!God bless u on your way back home!thanks for everything
RIP Roger
Best song ever! It really sounds like 80s, the best decade for pop music!
My childhood was in the 80s, and my teenage years in the 90s, life was so grand! Lucky to have lived through the two greatest decades!
I'm with you on that one! Born on April 30 1980 Definitely hit the jackpot!
What I need from the 80’s ❤️ are those wicked dance moves.
One of my lifelong favorite bands leaving me with wonderful memories of great times. RIP Roger.
Loved the 80'S nothing even comes close anymore, sad
54 years young !!! I still love the best era music ever !! Totally radical !! 😄
2023 still listening
1985 39 yrs. Ago I was only 16 yrs. Old now I'm 55 yrs. Old

I can't get enough of Tenderness!! Come back to Philly!!!
+Chrissie Brosko-Carroll We want him back in England!!!
I miss the 80's!! Wish we could go back in time!!! Such awesome music!
This song brings back a flood of memories. God I miss the 80’s, I’m so blessed to have lived through this wonderful decade. I wish I could go back. Forever stuck in the 80’s!
I love this song since I heard it first on Radio 1 in 1984.
123topchef Finally someone who remembers when music was great! Your not here for clueless and weird science! Although weird science is a killer movie! 👍👍👍
Ranking Roger passed away and his story brought me here. Wow, I missed this song . oh man the 80's. RIP
I remember when my mom put cable tv at home, MTV was 24/7 on. So nostalgic and so much memories, I really miss those days.
Take me back to the 80s anytime ❤️
One of the ultimate rock voices, and a great musician!
I just found out that Ranking Roger passed away today. I used to like this song a lot. RIP Roger. 🙏🙏
Ranking Roger was the coolest dancer with so much Ska style. Loved watching him perform for General Public.
This song make’s me happy. Just look at the beautiful kiddo’s in this video...they warm my heart.
I love this song makes me feel some type of way
Prycilla Almaguer I really know what you mean .Me too.
+Marilyn Serrano I love the feeling but than its so ugh weird lollll
A guaranteed dance floor filler at the rock/ dance club's in the 80s. Hooked me first time I saw video on MTV. Also in the movie 16 Candles.
nice nice i first heard it when i was a lil girl n ive always liked it havent really heard anything similar to this song lately but OG songs are always good
+Prycilla Almaguer I first heard it when it came out 30 years ago and I was a junior in high school.
That sounds absolutely lovely! :)
I heard "we're not going to take it" from Twisted Sister for the 1st time walking by a store in Guatemala.
I used to dance this song in school Keremese, back in 1985 and they used to play it in the quinceañeras in MTY MEX love it!!
Naive white boy from Texas? So what's the special thing on that? Pure bullshit.
Respect
Another 80s track that just portrayed pure vibes effortlessly..
I discovered this song thanks to the movie "Clueless" and I'm deeply in love with it !!! Thanks so much for this awesome music
This girl came to house and we watched Clueless (my first time watching it) and it was so awkward and just a complete failure. I remember she left before the movie even finished and I just sat there listening to this song as the credits rolled and thinking... Wow, this movie is Great!
Between this and Katrina and the waves "walking on sunshine", one of the best feel good songs of the 80's that takes you back.
Rewatching Clueless reminded me of this song
And Weird Science.
If this doesn’t make you stand up and dance you were not born back then cause this is a banger 😭🥰🥰
Quite possibly the catchiest pop song of all time
Clueless (1995), brought me here. Thanks.
Without a doubt, one of the best songs of the '80s.
