To be honest, I made a deal with myself: If they get together at the end of the season at least I will check out the manga. Otherwise, I won't because there would be no point. Gojo had his character development. He not only saw that there are other things that can be fun but found value in them and was able to not only see someone else's problems but talk to them about it before they did. But Marin just doesn't have character development, because she has no character flaw. Everytime you think they might be introducing a character flaw, like when she forces herself on JuJu to cosplay together, it never goes anywhere and is portrayed in the complete opposite direction. The problem is that Gojo has had his character development and Marin can't have character development unless they get together and face new challenges. If they don't by the end of the season, I know that the author is just milking it with as many cosplay costumes as possible instead of actually having a plan for future developments.
10:51 "Because lads, do you know what's better than witnessing a smile that you want to protect? It's witnessing a smile you helped earn." Jesus Christ Garnt, I clicked on this for an anime video essay and got a complete restructuring of my life goals.
I think that episode had a different animation director, who was going for a looser, dreamy vibe and it paid off big-time. It was probs my favorite episode
The fact that she acknowledged her feelings straightaway and didn’t deny them, the way she treats people is just admirable she’s make a great girlfriend and a great friend
The problem is that he didn't. It's an annoying part of all these japanese romance animes, they always beat around the bush and play coy and pretend to be shy for several seasons
@@Eric-zs6rd are we watching the same anime? THAT’S HIS CHARACTER. He’s the opposite of Marin and his character development is leaving his shell and becoming someone like Marin.
@@thedislikeman3575 someone's personality usually doesn't change in what has probably been like 2 months for them. You can also have just girl friends. They are still your friends gender doesn't matter.
I’m so glad he appreciated Gojo! As much I love Marin I always hear how “best girl” material she is and ppl overlook how “best boy” material Gojo is. He is caring, sincere, and all around an adorable character too. He’s not the cliché prince to the rescue or a malicious pervert, he’s just a normal healthy high school boy. He’s genuine and passionate and every time he does his best to make the cosplay of the their dreams he works hard and earnestly, i fall in love with him all over again every episode.
He's the husbando of the year, absolute life goals, and the most unrealistic thing about the show is that Marin wouldn't be fending off a thousand challengers as he comes out of his shell
Completely agree! I actually enjoy Gojo more as a character than Marin, Marin is awesome but Gojo just has this sweet charm about him, you see this more as you read the manga. I just wanna be his friend lol.
That scene of Gojo staying up late and crumbling under the pressure of his exams, making Marin’s outfit and running the store by himself was so well done and made me feel something I didn’t think I had left Emotion
See what happens when writers make the leads decent people? Marin feels like one of the first anime female leads that could be an actual person. None of that over the top tsundere or beating nonsense, she was written to be an actual human instead of an exaggerated character
My God man, Can we just appreciate Garnt’s writing skills ,this actually made me tear up I was only expecting jokes and all that but this actually have some good advice and some beautiful emotions put in to words.
This is absolutely why I love his videos. Great memes at the start, and then following up with the amazingly narrated seriousness you can never find find yourself disagreeing with.
One quote from this video that really stood out to me was "Do you know what's better than witnessing a smile you want to protect? It's witnessing a smile that you helped earn." What a powerful quote
What I love about the plot here is that instead of your usual "cute girl is embarrassed at main character who has the spatial awareness of an infant" it's "two teenagers meet trough similar hobbies, clearly both feel a mutual attraction and are simply taking their time because they don't have the confidence to get in a serious relationship yet" God I love when authors touch grass.
That's exactly what makes it so great and loved. It's grounded. It's hilarious sometimes, but it's at the same time hilariously grounded. It feels real, because the behaviour of the characters is presented naturally. That's just what many of us have experienced in their teens and it's therefore just relatable and believable.
It's actually very funny to see how dedicated this man is to find excuses not to admit that he's into this random drawing just because it looks like his wife
Thank you I said that about Gojo to I honestly thought Gojo was cuter. Like know duh Marin is pretty and she is a woman. But Gojo tho. Is secretly best waifu.
Let's not forget how the subtitles elevated Marin's dialogue to the next level. You can tell so much effort went into ensuring they translated the soul and feel of her speech idiosyncracies in a way that was both relatable and charming to a foreign audience.
Yes Marin is best girl but what makes this show great is that Gojo is also BEST BOY. He hardworking, sensitive, respectful, a great cook, tall, and personally I even think his character design is cute. Gojo stole my heart too 💘 he is honestly a dream guy
WOAH WOAH WOAH!!! Let me get this perfectly straight: You comment something that is completely unrelated to the fact that I have two HAZARDOUSLY HANDSOME girlfriends? Considering that I am the unprettiest UA-camr worldwide, it is really incredible. Yet you did not mention it at all. I am VERY disappointed, dear a
"You'll grow out of anime" and "the perfect anime" are to this day my favorites. They hit a spot and helped me get past that insecurity of being open about enjoying anime and the types of anime I enjoy. Thanks giguk!
Bro…. Homie was in the position to make a play. But holy shit they nailed the tension. The scene just radiates feelings and the animators put so much effort into it. One of my favorite details is when she runs into the bathroom and her pupils are pounding in beat with her heart.
Marin is definitely incredible, but the realistic way her and Gojo's relationship develops is like... UR-tier. They both show interest and understanding in each other's passions. Marin would never get to show this best girl enthusiasm if she didn't have someone to share it with. Gojo is like... one of the only male protags who REALLY goes above and beyond in earning his place. The best thing ever is always going to be watching someone's dreams come true, passions be realized, and hearts be healed.
Gigguk: "What's better than witnessing a smile you want to protect?" Conan: "To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women."
Episode 11's "scene" was a real mature and serious scene honestly. They didn't try to make fun of it or anything, they approached that situation really well and nailed the tension in the air. Also, Wakana's reactions are just sooooo real: when he finds those videos on the TV and then watches intrigued, when he "physically reacts" to Marin being on him and when he is home at the end of the episode "thinking back" on everything that had happened. I don't know about you but that's a seriously accurate description of what I'd have done in each of these scenarios.
Not only that but the silent stares, the heavy atmosphere/tension in the air, the breathing becoming more heavy. It’s just so true to how the situation would feel in real life that it makes them feel even more human, the male character isn’t just some dense idiot but instead understanding and shy
not a description of me, but if it fits someone then it's good. what i mean is: as long as it's realistic it's good, and if it describes even a small portion of people accurately, then that makes it realistic
It’s actually refreshing to see the female romantic lead be the nerdy one & the one who’s down bad for the potential SO. But seriously, give Gojo his Green Lantern ring. His will-power would even make John Stewart jealous.
It's actually impressive how well the show has balanced story, wholesome moments, and unashamed amounts of horny into literally every episode. And so far, even if they've stuck to few named characters, there's none that are holding a scene back.
As someone who doesn’t like those horny moments in anime, I love this show. It genuinely makes me smile almost the entire time I watch any episode. The wholesomeness and amount of care and amazing development that have been put into all of these characters is astounding. This isn’t a show I’ll typically tell people I’m watching but will 100% stand with my thought that it is my favorite show of the season.
10:11 "Pours his whole soul into his passions." *Shows a scene of Gojo intensely looking at porn for actual research purposes* You're a very funny man, Mr. Gigguk
"If he can make her happy of achieving that" that gave me chills it's astonishing how much work has gone into anime threw the last couple years and this affected me the only person I could be open about anime with my brother and he doesn't like anime but he still wouldn't drag me down for it. I hope I am able to make anime in the future that can give someone passion or a feeling of curiosity like the berserk manga did for me
I love how relatable Garnt is, he's the person that says what a weeb thinks, he shares it like he's the first weeb believer and want to proclaim the gospel of god. Just hearing him talking made me had an erection, and thus, giving me a golden experience. His words will be forever and always be remembered and will be written down in history books. I just like how he's confident in all of this. His narration is still as epic as when I first watchedhis videos.
Marin and Gojo are both really good characters at some point I feel like Marin is the lucky one. I like how its not a show where one mc or fmc shines brighter its a show where both of them are brightest together
Same! As much as I love all of the manga, I'm actually pretty sure most of my favorite scenes are all from Gojo. Marin is the draw, but you stay for both.
I think it is absolutely important to realise that this anime showcases a healthy developing relationship between two leads that is oh so rare these days. Marin has feelings for Gojo while valuing their friendship. Gojo, while being a teenage who displays a healthy amount of horny, controls himself because he prioritises Marin’s passionate desire to cosplay and recognise his role. There’s no boob grabbing, no running bloody nose, no nonsensical slapping or anything like that. We just see two people who respect eachother in their passion towards crafts and fully supports one another. I truly enjoy their friendship before any romance and that says a lot for a Romance anime
I think the part I love the most with Gojo is when he feels as though he will lose all his talent making Hina dolls because he hasn't been practicing, but his grandfather brings up how his line work has improved so much. It both helps him realize that making the cosplay won't take away from his Hina doll making while also removing a lot of weight of stress he had on his shoulders.
Never hast been the term "best girl" this fucking accurate, I was cynical ever since my last relationship failed, but seeing these two adorable babys have unhinged fun made me miss being in love again
Agreed on that. Its the first anime I've watched in almost 3 years but it got me hook line and sinker. Here I am, 30 years old by now, cheering for these two to finally be true to their feelings and act upon them. the highlight of EP11 was tense in a good way. funny as it was, it felt real and reminded me of the first time i got this close with my girlfriend. i just absolutely love this show and i so wish it ends 110% happy for both of them. ep12 apperantely is called "the doll that fell in love" .... LET's GO BOIS! WE CAN DO IT! BRING THAT SCORE TO HOMEBASE! :D (im hype if not obvious)
@@Tastypieinyourmouth your saying that like you know every women irl. Yeah it's probably extremely rare but I wouldn't say it's impossible to have someone similar to Marin
Personality-wise, she’s flawless. My main problem with Marin as a character, though, is that we don’t really see things from her perspective - her own flaws and insecurities - the way we do Gojo. There’s her inability to do handiwork and her lack of parental figures, but that’s a surface-level fault that doesn’t really inspire a character arc. It makes her come off very manic pixie dream girl-like. I would love it if other perspectives besides Gojo were shown more often, like Marin’s main friend group for example.
It’s unfortunately that(uneven development) seems to be a defining characteristic of shounen romance. (Horimiya had the same problem despite Hori being the perspective character)
I think that maybe her lack of a parental figure gives her less of a ideal of some basic norms, like “hey asking someone to sew a whole intricate cosplay in two weeks is not totally reasonable.” She learns quickly to understand Gojo’s subliminal messages about what he needs or feels, but yeah test 1 her expectations are a little out there for people if they don’t make the first move, or in the case of Gojo, he was kinda aggressive about his hobby (critiquing her attempt at sewing) once, so she thinks “he can handle me being super forward, outgoing, and kinda in his face”
As a cosplayer, this anime brought back some core memories. I teared up and cried so many times just because that dynamic reminds me so much of the journey I've been through. I honestly don't think there'll be something more relatable to me and I appreciate every second of it.
I am really happy that people are seeing Gojo as equally important to the story as Marin Gojo is such a treat as a protagonist its unreal, like I've been watching fanservice shows since I was 13 and it is RARE that I can identify part of myself with the MC of My Dress up Darling as much as this. Marin is best girl and Gojo is best Boi no one will fight me because its facts
He's such husbando material too. He's sweet, hard-working, smart, and genuinely kind. I'm not even super into ecchi stuff, but when the MC is that sweet I can't help but be happy for them when they get lewd moments too.
@@mirrormimi i think is oh so sweeter to think about because his hobby is probably weirder than anything the weeb genre can ever be. Most of us can't even begin to comprehend on what hinadolls are or how much of a cultural thing it is. In a way Gojo looking into the weeb culture mirrors what we look like looking into his hobbies. And the fact that he's so openly accepting of Marins hobbies gives off such an comforting feeling of: "Yeah, it's weird, but good for you!" I wish I had that in my life when I was young and I was afraid of telling people what I like
@@disk3001 I'm just waiting to see the "Gojou Battle Mode" animated. Not sure if it gets animated this season or, if ever, in Season 2, but by the fates, if they land his going-serious mode properly there are going to be riots in celebration.

Facts, I said as much in my last video on Marin being best girl, my dress up darling is a great show in many ways, one of which is how easily we can self insert with boy mc
I really like how you depicted My Dress Up Darling and the craft holds value. I am a seamstress, so everything mentioned was on par. It was so cool seeing a legit sewing machine running in an anime. As I too related to Gojo, but in the means of a out dated craft. Every sewing event I take part in, i am the only one under 50 yrs old. (in my late 20s lol). It being a topic starter in my age group is more like an talent. I really hope Dress up darling can inspire people to get into sewing. And what better way to show the enjoyment of the craft and become your own cosplay makers. The ecchi was basically part of the job in real life, which I liked how that was natural. There are many reasons why to watch Dress Up Darling. That said i relate to the marlin too, I am not afraid to tell people my hobbies and roll with it if someone thinks it's weird. I feel Gojo is not your typical male lead because he has a talent. Many male leads in anime don't have much other than the will and resolve (which is the best), but to this extent, it was simply amazing. He had something to offer and he took her hobby seriously, seeing it as her hobby not a hobby she took part in. As he watched and played the anime games (in his own sweet way of course) until the very end. How she respected his ability of modesty that the white demon cosplay showed to much skin. To place that reasoning in there, was just another appreciation to the craft itself. I have a good feeling that My Dress Up Darling is already inspiring people to get sewing machines and threads. I just want to say that you may need to start with squre quilt patterns before you get to making clothes. I just say that so people don't get discouraged. I believe in you. I really love everything about this show. As a female anime watcher (gender appeal) it's hard to find a true gentleman. I really like how Gojo was your honest and modest guy. A real man with respect for the lady. "Gojo is a catch" as you said. Amazing! Sorry for the typos and the long comment. I just cannot help myself. I know I am not alone there. Lol
This show made me realize that you can just go and make clothes (I know that's not too groundbreaking but I never would've thought of it) It seriously made me think about getting a sewing machine a couple years from now and just creating drip as a hobby
Honestly, if anybody ever decides to make an abridged version of this anime they need to get Sydney to voice Marin, because I never realized how similar they were
I love how I actually teared up right at the end because of the speech and then smiled and laughed when Gigguk said "JK it's just because she reminds me of Sydney"
They way you so passionately talked about Marin made me want to literally cry like if a person actually talked about you like this with this amount of love and admiration you would literally break down right on the spot it was just like a beautiful video.
The English and Japanese voice actors for Marine make it so fun to watch Ama Lee getting this role made the dub worth watching so many time more then I thought in the past.
Seriously, never had an anime make me connect with both main leads so much. Seeing the introversion and emotional maturity of Gojo, and the happy, positive attitude of Marin, on top of their very passionate personalities just triggers my neuron.
I just finished the first season. Man. It's so god damn wholesome with a hint of ecchi, and great comedy. I never thought I'd like slice of life, but I gave this show a chance and ended up loving it. The writing must have been translated super well because they even use modern day phrases like "That was totally bomb", "For real", and "My dude". You just don't see that kind of dialogue happening in other anime shows and it makes it feel like the characters are having a real conversation between young people.
It's surprising that this was the first of the gyaru romcom books to get an adaptation, I thought for sure it'd be Anjou. I'm not sure if the art style for that would work well in animation, though, and anjou is carried by the art
@@naruyaha1308 the first one I ran across was Yancha Gal no Anjou-san, like I said. Somewhat similar heroine, main male character is a more traditional nerdy guy than Gojo. The biggest difference is that it quickly goes beyond the two of them to the people around then (so more like Horimiya), and that Anjou makes her interest known from the get-go. The conflict is more that he can't accept that anybody would be interested in him, so he can't emotionally handle the relationship. (Bit like Nagatoro but without the bullying element.) It's good, though kind of aimless, but it's carried by the art. The art is unreal. Other one that I could point to is "doujima won't be disturbed" which is entirely from the POV of a gyaru type girl that's trying to tease and bully this one guy (that she's clearly into in a way that everybody else understands but her), but he's completely unflappable. Story is largely about her realizing why she doggedly keeps trying to get one over on him, and how his quiet patience is basically an "as you wish" princess bride kind of situation. It's done now, and I think it worked out pretty well. (There's also one called gal gohan that's about cooking in the same way that this is about cosplay....but the male lead is her teacher. Bailed out, too squick for me.)
To me, the thing that made this show special is that Gojo didn´t "got" the girl. Since the beginning he was honest, respectful and heard and cared about the thing Marin was really passionate about without judging her and treating her any different. That is how you make a real chad.
My best friend died years ago and she's the reason why I am as confident and have grown as much as I have. How earnest, sincere, goofy and caring Marin is really reminds me of her. I'll be eternally grateful for my friend, I don't think she understood the massive impact she had on my life
Even without the Horny and fan service she'd still be the best girl imo. Her personality is amazing and just makes me happy whenever she's laughing or Messing with Gojo. And oh man, the animation is phenomenal for this type of series.

Gojo is not just a self-insert romcom protag. He has his own personality and his passion sets him aside from the other. Overall a nice, wholesome guy you wanna be friends with. Marin has reasons to fall for him.
@@duongkhoanguyen4695 fr usually they keep the mc so bland that it makes the relationships feel a bit off, but Gojo and Marin have actual chemistry with each other. Both of them are top tier characters, I love it.
@@duongkhoanguyen4695 Something I really liked about him is that he's... he's a professional lol. I got pretty emotional on the last part of the video, i'm so happy for you gigguk. I somewhat recently found someone with we can really be ourselves for the for the time, and it's a wonderful feeling.
As someone who grew up in a environment where my passions were frowned upon I fully understand the pains, and now that I am older how I was able to find others who had such a high passion in the same things. This show really paints that in a light I never thought media would touch upon.
I kinda relate because I was a weeb for a long time and when ever I said I liked dragon ball the guys at school would start quizing me like it was impossible for a female to like anime. They would always explain dragon ball shit to me despite me having seen both dragon ball and dbz and dbzk and some of the manga (they only seen dbz and some of gt). I’m just glad the anime community is so much more accepting toward women weebs in fact we are pretty common now
I remember a boy in my class back in 2008 during an assignment to make a Dreamweaver website (any Britbong with a GCSE is quivering) decided to make it on Soul Eater, the anime he was watching at the time and when it came to presenting it, everyone just laughed and thought he was weird. Probably because most of them (including me) had never even seen or heard of Anime before. His only group of friends just made him the butt of every joke and tried their best to not hang around with him as much as possible, so you know, the kind of friends who aren't actually your friends and share no real interests with you. A number of years later I was seeing a girl who forced me to watch Spirited Away with her and I was in awe of how hooked I was on the characters and the world that it had built in such a short amount of time. Never had that from a movie or TV series before. Now since I have become a reclusive anime fan who enjoys RPG games too much. I haven't spoken to the guy in my year in a long time as he was living with his very old grandparent who when passed meant he had to go into Foster care as he wasn't old enough. Now that I share those interests I wish I had been more of a friend to him. I now realise that its not weird, its the only medium where I feel I can get truly engrossed in the characters and the world, he probably felt the same and we ostracized him for it in the years where you should be living your life to the fullest, care free ability. I remember speaking to him a few times before he left and he was a really chill dude, its just people thought he was super weird. I just wish I had been an actual friend to him instead of what the others were. I hope he found a real group of people who love and appreciate him and that one day we can catchup and share our appreciation for the medium of Anime and laugh at how dogshit our community school was. Because we robbed him of that during the most important years of his life and it can't be taken back. Sorry for the long read if anyone actually chooses to, this anime (and Gigguk's video naturally) brought up a memory and a feeling I hadn't thought of in a very long time and I felt like sharing!
Damn, it's not too late to try to reach out to him if that's possible for you and tell him all this. Reconnecting with old acquaintances always needs at least one party's impetus, but it can be quite rewarded. I think the demographic of my schools were diverse enough in the 2000s that there was always some group of people who were into the same weird things, even anime didn't feel alien to teenagers at my school, so I consider myself somewhat fortunate. Middle and high school still sucked mega-balls for other reasons, but I never felt like my fondness for anime was one of them.

Garnt, I'm only looking up this retrospective because I'm about to watch this series, however I have to say even 2 years ago your comedy and editing skills are top notch and hilarious. That good ol British self depreciating humor in those face photoshipped images always beg a good laugh from me. Your similies are hilarious and the timing is perfect. Please l, never stop making videos sir. Yours truly, a fellow early 30's depraved weeb.
I've never seen a show be so wholesome AND so spicy at the exact same time. There's a scene in one episode at a love hotel where nothing happens, but it damn sure FEELS like it does.
I watched Gantz when it was airing, back when I was a teenager. I was watching it on a laptop in the living room. I've never been so stressed watching a show.
I have just finished the series for the second time, watched this video more often than I want to admit and I am honestly so happy, that Gigguk appreciates her as much as I do. Marin feels so real, it's just astounding. To see her and Gojos journey was fricking heart warming
I think what makes Dress up Darling feel so different from other anime of the same genre is that Gojo and Marin's relationship goes both ways. Prior to watching this video, I had a tough time trying to understand why I was so engaged with the series, but now that I have, I can say for certain that was what hooked me in. They're both characters with relatable moments and are equally important leads to making the story entertaining.
Yes. what makes most anime romances fail is that the most important part, the relationship, is ignored. far too often they forget to show the audience how and why the two character work together to bring out the best in themselves.... or as I like to call it, give the main character a personality please. what I mean is, in komi can't communicate, ANYONE could have been tadano, while you would really have to push to find someone that could fill the shoes of Gojou.
I think Marin has a lot going on for her character. It’s not just her look. Also, Gojo magnifies Marin’s personality by being the absolute genuinely passionate and hard working guy he is. The show is just great in general. Edit: I just realized that this comment is just a shitty summary of what Gigguk said in his video.
What I love about Gojou is that he's not dense, like he has some feeling that they're getting closer and closer. After years of MC who would still be clueless with their crush naked in bed it just feels like a breath of fresh air.
What does she have as a character? Serious question, because to me, she is literally the embodiment of creating a perfect character without any character flaw. Everytime you think there might be a flaw introduced they don't follow up on that or portray it in the opposite way.
@@Modie she’s rather ignorant of her effect on Gojou, she’s shallow and doesn’t think too deeply on her thoughts, and while she’s honest with herself, she’s dishonest in her interaction with Gojou. It’s a story about two very inexperienced characters who’re growing together and, through their intertwined real-world passions, are growing closer as a result. I know that sounds deeper than it appears, but I really believe she’s a deeper character than the mirage of her perkiness lets on. Like how she answers her door without a bra and gets embarrassed when she realizes Gojou is seeing her without her red contacts. She only realizes after half the day passes and she assumes Gojou didn’t notice, but he clearly did. Her priorities are messed up and it’s due to her immaturity. Which is normal, she’s still growing up, but that’s the point. She’s learning as much as Gojou is, who never had a friend before.
@@AM-ko4pi As far as the story showed, she does know what effect she has on Gojo. I mean, she didn't show him her lingerie when they were buying stuff for her cosplay because she wanted a second opinion. Now, is that teasing a character flaw? Maybe, but as with all of her potential flaws, it's never portrayed in that way. While it makes Gojo uncomfortable, the series never portrays it in a bad way since Gojo always has fun at the end of the day even when being teased. How is she shallow when she is supposed to be deep? Not deeply thinking about her thoughts: Again, could be a character flaw if they would actually do something with, but they don't. In fact, it's portrayed in a positive light as part of her passion. How is she dishonest in her interaction with Gojo? She never lies to him except when it comes to her being in love (though that's less lying and more just not saying). However, again, this part is never shown in more depth to us. We see hear her inner thoughts. There is never a conflict where she asks herself if she should confess or not. She just doesn't do it, but as far as it's shown, it's not because there is a clear reason behind it that she would need to overcome. The only real time she lied was when she was jealous for all about 10 seconds which was mostly to show her pouting, but again, like so often, it doesn't go anywhere. She isn't really angry at either Gojo or Shinju and their interactions afterwards doesn't change because of her being jealous, meaning, it's not really part of the character. The only thing being remotely a character flaw is that her priorities are a bit messed up (like with the contacts). Though, even that is kind of stretching it, because it never has a negative impact on her life. Apart from her being in her pajama when opening the door, watching anime all night for example didn't result in anything bad. In fact, she is actually quite responsible, getting a job to finance her hobby and not getting into debt or just asking her parents. Not to mention that the first episode showed that she is not just leaving behind her responsibilities for her own amusement like others do. Again, I think there is potential for character flaws, but the show at least never goes through with any of them and makes sure through presentation that these aren't flaws to begin with. There is never a negative thing happening from whatever Marin does and she is the one changing the people around her, not the other way around.
11:00 Gojo: "If we kill every last one of our enemies right there, will we finally be free?" Marin: "Gojo-kun, what enemies are you talking about?" Gojo: "Hmm... I don't know... Whose memories are they from..."
This is the first anime, that made me fall head over heels immediately watching all 12 episodes within one sitting. The animation is just beautiful and I couldn't find anywhere to complain, Sadly the only time I had a issue was episode 11 and how the okward moment was seemingly forgotten. But other than that it's such a beautiful anime..!
The way Marin falls in love with him feels so natural, i think that the moment she falls for him is when she hear him passionately talk with his grandfather about the latest cosplay design he did, being all technical and stuff, which feels so refreshing. Most of the time romance in anime comes out of nowhere, and sometimes it doesnt make much sense what makes that girl falls for that guy while having not much in common. Here it makes sense, she has a passion for cosplay and discover a boy who's passionate about making clothes and sees in him a partner with which she can share her passion. This is done right.
What I love about Marin is that she feels "alive". What I mean is she feels like a real person because of how expressive she is in a way that feels believable
What about her expressiveness is so different? She’s just as expressive as other characters; the only difference is that she shows different exaggerated emotions than some other ones (such as extreme love rather than extreme jealousy) The way she’s portrayed as a character isn’t terribly different otherwise. I feel like you might be feeling this “real”ness just because she’s not exactly a generic stereotype tsundere or something.
What I like about Garnt's videos is that he always gives a better insight on how to review and reflect the feelings that an anime can give you. Ive watched the anime that he's reviewed but he always helps me clarify all these feelings clearly and how it impacts me better which give me a bigger and better appreciation of the anime Im watching. Plus the comedy is top tier! Haha
The best thing about Marin is that when she likes Gojo she doesn't go on the route of "No, I don't like him, this doesn't make sense." She fully accepts it and she totally gets happy when around Gojo. Like a normal human being, if you like you like it. You'll not be on denial, you'll try to get closer to that person and find happiness in the small moments.
When I saw the scene of Gojou being burned out and questioning his enitre passion, I bawled. I still have yet to crawl out of the slump I'm in right now, but having all that laid out in front of me just kinda felt like looking in a mirror.
When Marin was crying about the miscommunication. Is when I realized that this was something special. Unlike anything I've seen before. So I totally agree that she is best girl, for 2022 and the foreseeable future.
5:47 Not going to lie that cute blush pierced any defence I had almost instantly.... Also I want to shout out Ama-Lee who did the dub voice acting of Marin, she done such an amazing job.
Everyone came for Marin, stayed for the plot, and came for Marin again.
The cycle of this show's life.
Hey its you
oh i'm coming for her alright
If you see him everywhere means your everywhere
If they don't by the end of the season, I know that the author is just milking it with as many cosplay costumes as possible instead of actually having a plan for future developments.
that pun was solid gold.

Lmao, roasted
In the manga you start to see some of that more often, but yeah I hope the creator slowly started diving into Marin more deeply.
is the season 2 being made? or is it done
well she's a bit of an airhead. You could sort of call that a personality flaw

Lol
This show made me realize that you can just go and make clothes (I know that's not too groundbreaking but I never would've thought of it)
It seriously made me think about getting a sewing machine a couple years from now and just creating drip as a hobby
Gojo's character is based of the author's ideal man. So basically you have good standards.

I'm glad this series is getting the recognition it deserves. Been reading the manga for quite a while now and the anime did a great job adapting it
It's surprising that this was the first of the gyaru romcom books to get an adaptation, I thought for sure it'd be Anjou. I'm not sure if the art style for that would work well in animation, though, and anjou is carried by the art
@@CrispBaker have any recs for this kind of story?
@@naruyaha1308 the first one I ran across was Yancha Gal no Anjou-san, like I said. Somewhat similar heroine, main male character is a more traditional nerdy guy than Gojo. The biggest difference is that it quickly goes beyond the two of them to the people around then (so more like Horimiya), and that Anjou makes her interest known from the get-go. The conflict is more that he can't accept that anybody would be interested in him, so he can't emotionally handle the relationship. (Bit like Nagatoro but without the bullying element.)
It's good, though kind of aimless, but it's carried by the art.

*Y E S*
@@AM-ko4pi
As far as the story showed, she does know what effect she has on Gojo.

It was definitely not forgotten. Marin uses the experience in another cosplay.
FUCK OFF WITH LONGFORM SPOLIERS, PUT A DAMN TAG.
When we've memed so much about Hime's secret being the worst kept secret, even totally-not-her-fiancee gets in on it...
What I love about Marin is that she feels "alive". What I mean is she feels like a real person because of how expressive she is in a way that feels believable
What about her expressiveness is so different? She’s just as expressive as other characters; the only difference is that she shows different exaggerated emotions than some other ones (such as extreme love rather than extreme jealousy)
The way she’s portrayed as a character isn’t terribly different otherwise.
I feel like you might be feeling this “real”ness just because she’s not exactly a generic stereotype tsundere or something.
