Thing that can't be unseen for me is that Senpai really looks like he's just a few years away from starting a youtube channel called 'Mother's Basement'.
I'd run out of anime to watch and found myself scrolling through UA-cam for hours only to stumble across Gigguk again after not watching his videos for what seems like years now. As I watch I am immediately reminded of how much I enjoyed his videos before and I look forward to bingewatching everything I've missed.
I finished catching up with the manga last night and I did not expect it to be so sweet. I was turned off before cuz I don't like femdom but Senpai and Nagatoro are legit great together. It hit me even harder when Nagatoro started using Senpais hand gestures and Senpai started using "gross" to describe stuff later on. They're so close and so opposite it's great. There's a scene where Nagatoro carries Senpai when he hurts his ankle to help him finish a race and I was like, "Oh yeah, this was supposed to be about bullying a nerd originally."
You'll notice that its like she's building up his resistance to the teasing. Ep1 was malicious but it also showed her what his limit was and how vulnerable he was to it. Now she very carefully pushes to that limit and pulls back if she goes too far. In a way she's basically providing a safe space for him to build up resistance. and, over time, he gets used to the level of teasing esp from her so he's no longer rubbed raw by it. It makes him better able to cope with it from others. That's part of the reason she's also protective of him against her friends because she knows they don't know his limit and they won't give him the candy to balance out the thorns. As her feelings have grown it's obvious that she's also insecure when she teases him about kissing or holding hands etc its because she's thinking about it first and she outright dares him to make the first move because she's afraid to herself. She intro's the idea and quickly says "kidding" when he doesn't follow thru.
In the manga she starts blushing right after making him cry and wonders “did I take it to far” while having a kinda nervous/worried face. Its clear that she liked Senpai since chapter 1
TL:DR I'm happy that Nagatoro uses proper procedures and cares about limits, because the people that don't cause abuse. So, this is actually a correct form of Domination. This is what you do and it's called limits, and a vetting.process. if someone does not vet you and take time to learn your limits before having bdsm and intensive intercourse, they are dangerous. Those that immediately just jump straight into it without even learning you personally are using you for intercourse, or groomers. I'm very proud of nagatoro for showing off proper safety procedures in this kind of dynamic. There's so much intensive abuse in this kind of community because a lack of care like This.
Can I just take a moment about the intro? I love how subtle but fucking awesome the lyrics "Easy love" and "Night Date" are picked perfectly because a heavy Japanese accent makes it sound like 'Ijira' and 'Naide' for Ijiranaide.
Agreed. I’ve read the manga since day 1 and god their relationship is so damn GOOD. Not to mention what we finally got to read a few chapters ago. The wholesomeness is win
Although she does attempt to make the main character progress, she does have a character arc of her own (which is mainly only in the manga at the moment, the anime hasn't got far enough). Besides, Manic Pixie Dream Girls don't usually bring their male counterparts to tears until the end of the story (when they ultimately leave). Nagatoro is as shy as Naoto but handles it differently, which is shown quite often. The more unsure she gets, the worse the teasing becomes. Kinda feels like the old Shinji and Asuka dynamic but without the mental breakdowns.
I like how the whole time he’s speaking like an author with a beautifully written script, but the script is about a child wanting to bully an adult and step all over him
I’m a girl and just personally not at all interested in the “*coughs* Artistic drawings of the cultured nature”, but this is still one of my favorite anime’s of the season and probably for a while. The first ep was a little uncomfortable but man was the art good, and I’m glad I came back because there’s just something about their dynamic that I find amazing. I’ve seen both characters get a lot of criticism, but that’s part of the point, they’re both very flawed characters and people. They’re very well written in my opinion and I see some parallels to people or types of people I’ve seen in real life. People who struggle to express their honest feelings so they cover it up with humor or people who’ve been put down so much that they struggle to trust the intentions of others. It just really reminds me of being an awkward teenager and really not knowing what to do or trying to flirt and convey your feelings through teasing It’s really great and I find myself really looking forward to each new episode.
I plead you to stay away from his "work" in the fine arts. His work there is quite disturbing, and left a slight damper in me liking Nagatoro as much as I would of.
Great video! I have not watched Nagatoro yet, but I am excited to do so. I have been reading the manga since before I knew there was a show, and it always struck me as rather altogether wholesome AND cutesy. So it has been weird to me all the backlash Nagatoro has been getting. So I do agree that people haven't watched or read for the long haul, becuase while painful at first, you can't help but root and cheer for these two. Awesome video, well thought out conclusions! :)
I walked in on my partner watching this and teased him by asking him why he was watching it and asked if he had some weird kink I didn't know about it. And he was like "Are you bullying me?? ;) " And I asked "Is this turning you on?!?!" And I blame you for everything Gigguk.
Damnit... I watched Nagatoro... and I'm hooked. It caricatures more parts of myself and my life than I'd like to admit. Would have been fortunate if the bullying I received was as much of a façade as Nagatoro's, but I'm pretty sure it was just bullying, and being a sensible *real* person, I fucked right off from that instead of continuing to take it like "Senpai." Gamou is an amazingly sly wingman, and is really where my attention is at whenever she has even a spec of spotlight in the series. She's way more interesting to me than Nagatoro's juvenile manic pixie dream girl schtick.

“I started for the smug, but i stayed for the smile”
-Gigguk
Gigguk will forever be haunted by domestic girlfriend
Haunted? He loved that dumpster fire, he'll cherish the memory for the rest of his life
Didn't it all start with Ero-manga sensei?
He is not the only one...
Domestic girlfriend was Great (till the last few chapters of the manga, spoiler they fucked the ending)
@@m_t_a_h_a we know. The best video on UA-cam is Gigguk's take on the kanojo ending. It's legit the best shit ever
"Started for a smug, stayed for the smile." Now I know the reason why I went beyond 3 episodes in this anime HAHA!
It’s because we are all so lonely that any form of social interaction is a good form of social interaction.
It's sad how true this is for a lot of ppl.
I’m in this comment and I don’t like it

.......wait....
I do feel like the real life counter part of Nagatoro would just be a rude bitch though. Anime and Manga Nagatoro however, is epic.
Did he really make a joke about anime relationships and hawking radiation in the same sentence. Truly this man is cultured
Gigguk : Makes a video about Nagatoro
Nagatoro episode that comes out the same day : uses the phrase "Ero manga sensei"
*It's destiny*
😭
yes, Yes, YEs, YES
It cannot be a coincidence.....
Its all according to keikaku
Doms reading this: "Write that down, write that down!"
@@stolenhero6650 the webcomic Nagatoro was an actual monster in the beginning, it made me feel so damn bad for Senpai

“OH GOD HAVE I AWOKEN SOMETHING INSIDE MYSELF...AGAIN!?” Most relatable line of the year lol
“Started for the smug, stayed for the smile”
🤧 how poetic~
Can I just take a moment about the intro?
I love how subtle but fucking awesome the lyrics "Easy love" and "Night Date" are picked perfectly because a heavy Japanese accent makes it sound like 'Ijira' and 'Naide' for Ijiranaide.
Nagatoro is a manic pixie dream girl, her goal has a character is to help the introvert protagonist to be more confident about himself.
omg i never even thought of that 😳
You sly man, you just finished watching Fate/Stay Night UBW Abridged 8 didn't you?
Well, someone just finished the latest ubw abridged episode.
I love that you can see Nagatoro’s heart breaking when senpai says they’re not dating.
That does sound entertaining
I like how the whole time he’s speaking like an author with a beautifully written script, but the script is about a child wanting to bully an adult and step all over him
This man is a blessing 💀😂😂
“These anime are basically just like edging, but for the soul” 💀
5min in and I just realized this is Gigguk's "Hentai is art" thesis...
WORTH IT

It just really reminds me of being an awkward teenager and really not knowing what to do or trying to flirt and convey your feelings through teasing
It’s really great and I find myself really looking forward to each new episode.
I’m a girl too and I can agree I (also) am interested in the Artistic drawings of the culture nature 😼👊
I plead you to stay away from his "work" in the fine arts. His work there is quite disturbing, and left a slight damper in me liking Nagatoro as much as I would of.
@@GoInGcRz no worries, I’m not into that stuff anyway

Lots of word's. I give like
"Started for the smug, stayed for the smile."
Exactly how I felt progressing through the manga and finding out it's actually very wholesome.
“God forbid being called ‘Grant’” I fucking lost it
I saw this video pop and was like "ok I guess we're watching this now"
Ikr it's 2 am at my place 😂
did it in the mids of watching One Piece ^^ no regrets!

Something about the series keeps bringing me back

That's too much spice
Spice is a word that you shouldn't say in front of Grant

Damnit... I watched Nagatoro... and I'm hooked. It caricatures more parts of myself and my life than I'd like to admit. Would have been fortunate if the bullying I received was as much of a façade as Nagatoro's, but I'm pretty sure it was just bullying, and being a sensible *real* person, I fucked right off from that instead of continuing to take it like "Senpai."
Gamou is an amazingly sly wingman, and is really where my attention is at whenever she has even a spec of spotlight in the series. She's way more interesting to me than Nagatoro's juvenile manic pixie dream girl schtick.
Nagatoro: I want a girl to toy with me
Komi-san: I want a girl to talk to me
Isn't that just the same thing.
