Thank you so much! I have the same programmer and adapter, but I'm new to this and there's not much information on the T48 out there yet. That one pin offset for the 27C400 would have caught me out if you'd not mentioned it. Just need some chips and a UV eraser and I'm good to go.

    Hm...
    Compare this 2 pictures:
    - 12:31
Notch is on the right, offset is 1
    - 15:39
Notch is on top, offset is 2
But I also see: The Adapter in the picture at 15:39 has a socket with 2x 21 Pins (42),
but on your adapter it has 2x 24 pins (48) (looking at the picture at 12:17).
Doesnt seem very intuitive but thank you for showing it the proper way.

XGecu T56 doesn't require an adaptor. If all you want to do is Amiga ROMS then the T48 + adaptor is fine, however if you are looking in to other devices then the T56 does a wider selection (37148 currently)

In retrospect, I would have bought a T56. However, it's not clear from XGecu's website that the T48 needs an adapter (or that the T56 does not). Might be buried on their forum somewhere, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that was confused.

The T56 of course is more expensive than the T48.
However, the T56 doesnt require an adapter for Amiga ROMS. So add the cost of an adapter to the T48.
A bare bones T56 is even closer to a T48 with adapters. Does one really need all those adapters that come with the kits?
As an added bonus the T56 is faster, has a larger socket, does more chips, and has a built in on/off button.
For me I skipped lunch or ate a sandwich for several days instead of take out and bought the T56.

@@ClarkHale Who knows??? As folks use these it will get figured out. Wasnt enough of a price difference for me to worry about.

The T56 wasn't available when I got the T48, and, mine came with tons of adapters, including ones for PLCCs which I wanted and you'd need on the T56 anyway. Adding this adapter to what I already own was pretty cheap, and it too can handle certain PLCCs the T56 can't. Thanks to Clark for making this video.

Dear question, I have an EEPROM memory with a specific number that I could not find in the market. The memory size is 256 KB. Can it be replaced with another? It does not. have to be the same number, but of course the same size, or it must be the same number and the same size. The one is damaged is one time only read memory"TMS27PC256-20NL". The one i will used is UV EPROM"M87C257-20F1". With same size of course i will transfer data with programmer from TM to M8.
Can do that because idont have TM eprom. I have M8 eprom.

I don't immediately know the answer. You can try to look up the datasheets for the old and new chips to see if they're pin-compatible. Just because they're the same size, doesn't necessarily mean they're compatible.
Also, might be best to find the community of whatever you're fixing, and ask them for current substitution parts for the eprom your lookihng for.

Thank you for this one Clark - wanted to burn the Eprom with T866II+ as recommended everywhere but then got confused by the T48 and T56 and some comments that it doesnt work or the existing adapters dont work... However, AnotherMaker made a very nice video explaining the differences between the 3 of them and also that for 99% of the users the T48 is the right choice: ua-cam.com/video/42VCmOVWAyc/v-deo.html
