@@roymustang7031actually, you should not maintaining eye contacts for a long time. Eyes contacts are for peole listening. When people are talking, they tend to look away to talk or demonstrate something, or even to acknowledge other people in the conversation. You usually start tooking at the eyes again to note you are done with your thought for now, and invite the other side to talk.
Its extremely awkward to maintain long eye contacts while speaking. And usually we only do that with lovers or people we have deep emotional connection with.

It's all a bit hilarious. Imagine Anna's parents looking on as she plays a big event in front of millions and both facepalming as she proceeds to play a shocking move blissfully unaware anything is wrong.
Eh, it's all a matter of how you take it, you can't let losses bring you down. And Anna is known for her positivity.

@@Ben-YesMe Basically what happened was that the presenter said "the winner of the award could not be with us tonight" BEFORE actually opening the envelope. And since Anna was the only one in her category who attended, it was pretty obvious she was not going to win.

It was probably on accident with the spoiler but I feel sad for Anna, especially cuz Tyler1 in a stream said he didn’t even care about the award, and Anna cared so much that she even showed up to LA. And then the guy that’s not there, that isn’t truly a chess streamer wins the award…and the presenter even says she doesn’t win before announcing it..and sad cuz Anna had a really good year and got so insanely many to chess but hopefully she can win next time.
Anna has such a fun bubbly personality. What a stunningly gorgeous dress she was wearing as well! Bravo Connor with the great questions too. I loved this!

Yeah, her Mum is in the conversation for greatest player never to win the (Women's) World Championship, and you'd have to argue pretty damn hard not to give her at least a podium finish (assuming we exclude the other two Polgar sisters).

Anna's channel wouldn't be quite the same without "My GM Mom" and "My GM Dad" featuring all the time. In fact Pia could probably start her own channel if she wanted - she's really good at explaining concepts to a non-expert audience, as well as going along with Anna's stunts (like pretending to be a beginner to play against a park hustler, then absolutely smashing him).

I came to Annas Channel without knowing anything about her parents. Her parents are a great addition for the channel. Especially Pia. But without this positive energy she emits with each word, even if she lost an important game, her channel wouldnt be as succesful as it is. She is a really good player with her timemanagment as the biggest enemy.

well, 2 and a half. Although I don't know how good his Welsh is nowadays
He's a native speaker - his Welsh is probably better than most second language speaker's Japanese. Even if he's rusty he would remember quickly given the right context.
And the third language is Japanese - he's been living there for a few years now, yeah he's probably not great at it compared to some people but he can get by which is more than a lot of Otakus can say.

I don’t play chess, but watch nearly all of Ana’s posts.
I think Anna is selling herself short. I have no doubt she can reach Im and possible GM. While her mom is extremely good maybe she can reach her dads level (peak elo 2510) at some point. But I think she is focusing more on building her streaming career before hardcore grinding chess, so we will see how good she will get. But she likely already earns more money than possibly her parents combined every did so yeah she doing something right :D
