This was fun. You could totally do a AITA, vegan edition, lol.
this is such a good idea omggg
Seconding this!!
Third-ing ! 😂🌱
Dear Swayze.
It is not too late.
Even after all of these years and spreading so much misinformation about nutrition.
You can still save yourself.
Please read your own book.
It is not the worst thing, that you have ever done.
It is the best thing, that you have ever done.
I really cannot understand you.
It is not worth the money.
If you go back to proper nutrition, which is a 100% organic raw vegan diet, then I will allow you to "juice" my "cucumber."
How big exactly are the udders of Swayze?
Nobody could answer this question so far.
Also I think there's a real distinction between feeding pets animal based food (especially cats) and replacing feathers on a big bird suit. They're both byproducts of the meat industry, but one has a point.
there's also not a good alternative for pet feed.
Ireland only has 1 vegan food for dogs and its outrageously expensive. There is none for cats. This is something that will chsnge in time as people go vegan and there are less by products
Reddit can be intriguing at time… but by Reddit standards these were actually not horrible.
Big bird doesn't even look like he's covered in feathers it just looks like 'fluff' so surely it would be way easier and cheaper to make the costume from cotton or whatever? And it wouldn't need to be repaired/re-made as much either.
Pierogi ruskie are made of potatoes, onion, and white cheese ( i dont know if you have this stuff, its not creme cheese and not cottage cheese). They are easy to veganise, put tofu instead of cheese. And Babcia is Grandma 😊
@Lurch oh look, someone who isn't vegan (probably because they don't want to give up their familiar flavors) has big feelings about what vegans choose to eat and doesn't understand why vegans don't want to just give up their familiar flavors. 😂
I disagree wrong about the filling: making a decent twarożek imitation out of tofu or directly out of soy milk is pretty easy.
Try not to get so worked up about food: the Polish people have lived through much worse than soy pierogi. And please update your knowledge of nutrition, that part about butter and coconut oil was ridiculous.
@Lurch then you're missing out tofu potato pierogi are in my honest opinion even better than the regular ones lol
I, a person who regularly has to take intermissions watching a single 60-minute episode of a drama, need you to know Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is WORTH the 2.5 hours in a theater. The animal abuse in question is animal testing-- one of the villains is a lunatic who is trying to create the perfect humanoid species. It'll pull at your heartstrings, but it's not gratuitous.
It was worth it. Loved every minute of it and tried not to cry 😭
holy cow it was that long? didn't feel like it.
@@Dogthedeadly It felt like three hours but I didn't mind it. Just thought the movie was going to end sooner.

I'm not 100% vegan, but I do try to eat mostly plant-based. My view on pets is that I will not buy any pets that have been bred for the pet trade, but I will adopt rescue animals. In America many shelter pets are kept in unfortunate conditions and even euthanized just because the shelters run out of space. So if they can hang out with me in my comfy house instead, I feel like that's a service to animals.
same for me, I have 2 rescuse cats, but I still feel bad buying cat food
There's no such thing as a percentage vegan. That's like saying you're 99% feminist but you beat your wife every now and then. Veganism is an ethical stance against animal exploitation.
Right on!
ADOPT DON'T SHOP
I always thought this way too but the other day I watched a video (idk where, was it here?) Where the person brought up a valid point: rescuing animals and feeding them meat will evidently kill/harm more animals. So you might rescue a cat but then harm hundreds of cows by feeding it. So the vegan thing to do would technically be to kill all shelter animals that feed off other animals because it's the least harm caused.
Mind you I feel conflicted because I love me a cute cat, I'd love to have one myself. But it got me thinking.
@@wa6184 actually a cat would only eat a single cow in its lifetime if he was exclusively fed beef. But yeah, still contradictory. The best is to feed vegan cat food when possible. My gf used to feed her cat with vegan cat food for 6 years before it got health issue and needed more palatable food to prevent weight loss
UV and the cat keep their relationship to a respectful nod when passing in the hall
I think the Guardians of the Galaxy post was more like venting, not virtue signaling. Yes, we know about the disconnect, but it's still annoying every single time
In the latest Gardians of the Galaxy movie it explores the background of one of the characters who is the result of horrible scientific experiments. It was really heartbreaking to watch
Omg I just saw the scene on UA-cam where he realizes he's a raccoon after all
I gotta watch this movie
What really made me sad that what happened in movie happens in real life and people don't really know about it or choose to ignore it😢
@@SydneyLarrikin-ci2vz Bring tissues 😭
@Lurch I'm sorry, but how does your comment apply to any of the others?
@Lurch What?
I heard that almost all costume feathers are real. It’s harder to create synthetic feathers than to just use real feathers from birds. Even a cheap pink feather boa is made from real bird feathers.
At 7:35, those types of posts pop up semi-frequently in r/vegan, but I give them a pass. They could be a literal teenager, and if they feel the need to vent, there's no better place than a vegan community. I don't think every vegan post needs to serve some productive purpose. Just like omnis, vegans aren't perfect either.
UV you should get one of those gadgets with the bristle claws to catch and release critters! It's like a grabber but with soft bristles so it doesn't hurt the spider/lizard/skink/whatever critter!
I've started getting notifications from this subreddit a lot lately, and in my experience it's a mixed bag of people that understand nuance and people who really don't. I didn't expect it but I think there are pretty good posts on average
Personally, being an animal lover made me go vegan. Especially working in vet med and being confronted with every animals capacity to feel pain just like we do. I can't imagine not wanting an animal companion, it's in my nature. Hearing someone say that sounds like "I just don't really like breathing, so I don't." I'm not judging, it's totally cool to feel that way. I just can't grasp that concept 😂
All that matters in the end is that we don't want to cause pain and suffering, so we do our best not to.
I hate that my cats eat meat but sucks more to not have them, they are the joy and stress of my day and my lofe would be so bland without them.
I love my😺😸unconditionally. If you cannot do the same, ditch veganism.. it's a silly religion.
You could try Benevo, especially if you're in the UK.
For the Big Bird puppet, to be fair I think "how many birds are killed for this this" is kind of the wrong question since all the feathers are most likely from birds that weren't killed FOR THIS specifically but were killed for meat and their feathers were the byproduct. A more correct question would be "how many animal deaths did this contribute to?" since the ones making the custome are definitely paying for these feathers and therefore funding the slaughter and contributing to it.. But it would be pretty much impossible to calculate since we don't really know how many (if any)of the feathers in the costume are actually molted feathers collected from the living space of the birds rather than plucked ones.
You could make an argument however that even if there are molted ones there those contribute to the slaughter as well in a very indirect way since it funds process of farming (and very possibly, factory farming) which makes the answer to this question even more complicated.
Recently found your channel. Have you done a video on Ritual vitamins or Complement vitamins?
What's the name of the book about free will that you mention?
The Guadians of the galaxy touched on a lot of important aspects of animals abuse and animal welfare which I loved . Especially, at the end when they made sure to rescue the animals as well .
I have seen people with Anti Social Personality Disorder (formerly known as sociopathy) who don't have empathy but their own admission. That doesn't, in anyway, mean they can't understand why it is bad to harm others therefore they don't do it. Their brain just operates differently. Lack of empathy does not mean more likely to do harmful things.
I get that maybe big bird doesn't need actual feathers if there are suitable alternatives, but I object strongly to your being dismissive of the art and craft of the puppet makers and costumers, simply because they work for educational television on pbs... That's the sort of thinking that generates the worst kind of programming for children and kids know when they aren't being taken seriously... And one thing that makes this obvious is when programming for kids has lower standards than programming for adults. One thing that made Sesame Street so groundbreaking is the care it took in producing the show (also that it was set in the inner city was pretty bold for the late 60s). But all artists deserve to have their work respected whether they are working for pbs or a major film studio or a museum.
I think you're giving kids waaaaaay too much credit. They watch a lot of garbage. Look at all the terrible kids content on youtube that gets millions and millions of views? I appreciate shows like Yo Gabba Gabba, and youtube channels like Pancake Manor that put a lot of work into their stuff. But at the end of the day, it's for kids. It is not nearly as meaningful as adult works of media (even if "educational"). Regardless of audience, no puppet or other work of art justifies torturing and killing animals.
I am floored with the BigBurd-it kind of feels like maybe they wouldn’t have to replace it every 2 weeks if they used synthetic maybe? Idk that makes me so sad
I was briefly on r/vegan a few years ago. I asked a question about milk alternatives that are available where I live and don't taste like beans whilst also having nutritional value. I got dog piled and called every name under the sun. I deleted my account and left pretty quickly.
How does anyone think it's productive to call someone asking about transitioning away from milk an animal abuser, cow rapist and saying just go vegan. That's just not helpful.
I doubt that's the full story.
@@Aashishkebab well it's as full a story as I remember it.
@@Aashishkebab I've browsed the subreddit for years, it's not exactly uncommon
I started moving away from the subreddit recently when users started saying everyone can go vegan and misrepresenting history. I have intolerances to the many fruits used as binders in meat alternatives. Also the notion that medieval peasants or serfs were vegan is dishonest as we have writings from the era describing how farmers made cheese and milked cows and goats. Farmers raised chickens for eggs to eat and sell at market. Animals were sold for slaughter and there was hunting being done both legally and illegally by peasants. Also we have writings from the catholic church that dictated what could be eaten during lent which included anything declared a fish during that period in time.
Serfs bought fresh meat from the butchers when they could afford to do so and salted it to make it last during the winter. Some types of soil are not fit to grow enough plants to survive. Until GMO’s are perfected some countries would have to supplement any crop failures with imports from other countries and with the type of fuel used today for transportation I wouldn’t be surprised if that would a significant negative impact on climate change.
2:18 did they say they kill the birds to put on the feathers? I didn't - it sounds a little jumping to conclusions
Interesting that you just found the Very Good Steak at Grocery Outlet. I was just there yesterday and found the brand's Smoky BBQ Ribs and Maple Bourbon Ribs! Haven't tried them yet, but very much looking forward to it. I didn't see the steak - will definitely have to go back and look! Great video!!
My GO is packed with this stuff. So is my freezer. It has an awesome amount of protein, and it is now $2.99!
I’m curious if real feathers are better than faux in the sense of environmental impact? Are faux feathers made from plastic? I’m certainly not advocating for real feathers or saying it’s okay, but, they are wasting A LOT of feathers for these costumes. Is it better that we use what is already there or produce faux? I’m not sure.
I was wondering that same thing. If they would have gotten the feathers for free, I might vote to use real feathers instead of fake ones.
Then again, would we be okay with using free horse skin/leather/hair if it was a rest product of an oversized horse meat industry?
Not sure.🤔
Yep. You are asking great questions. In terms of production and recycling faux feathers and other synthetic sh@t doesn't stand a chance.
@@AA-cf4es Genuine leather is pretty terrible for the environment becaue of the intense pollution involved in the leather tanning process (wearing processed leather is nothing like being a caveman and wearing animal hides! who knew?). Do feathers require a similar degree of processing before they can be used for fashion/costumes? No idea, but I wouldn't assume natural feathers are any better than synthetic.
@@TasteOfButterflies i know, hon. And yet "vegan" alternatives are plastic and petroleum-based, so no. They are better for immediate life of some animals, we all understand it, but no, they are better from ecological point of view, considering decomposition rates esp.
Interesting. I think we’d need to know what the foundational layers of the costume are. I’m willing to bet that they’re petroleum based and thrown out with each change of feathers, too. If it’s cotton based, high turnover can have a negative environmental impact, too. If that’s the case, maybe a faux feather suit that lasts months to years is better than a new suit being produced and an “old” one landfilled every two weeks or less? We’d have to factor in shipping and disposal, too, not just production. Could be a fun topic for a sustainability UA-camr like gittemary to dive into if the information is publicly available.
great video !
and thank you for addressing the fact that sometimes vegetarians are shamed by the vegan community.
I am a vegetarian and very interested in veganism, but I’m going to admit, I’m French … cheese is a huge part of my diet and I just can’t let go of it for the moment.
I am ashamed of this, but being demonized for it is so counterproductive.
Before going vegan I would drink over a liter of milk each day, I'd eat butter by itself and I've always loved cheese. Then I saw a video about the treatment of cows, and I started cursing - not out of empathy for the cows but because I knew I would no longer be buying dairy. But when the decision had been made I was astounded by how easy I found the transition. I wasn't perfect at avoiding it in the begining, I would still eat if someone else was offering, but overtime I moved away from that too. Letting go can be hard but once done the fall wasn't as high as it seemed, at least for me. I believe in you!
@@MrNikeNicke thank you for this reply, it means a lot ❤
Have you looked up the casomorphin addition to cheese? I'm from former-Yugoslavia so, like you, I thought my cultural identity was to blame for my addiction to feta cheese until I found out about casomorphin. It took some willpower and some distance but I eventually learned to stop caring about cheese successfully! So much to the point where even good vegan cheese stop being appealing to me because the addictive substance wasn't present in my life anymore. You should look into the science of it, the data helped explain what I previously thought was impossible to give up ✌️
Anyone know which freewill book she's talking about? Thanks ❤
If you visit Las Vegas, I recommend Pancho's Vegan Tacos! Great Mexican food, good atmosphere, and great prices! I live in LV, and my partner and I usually eat there once a week. My personal fav dish is the Chili Rellenos plate.
r/vegan's extremely pushy and not explanatory. I try not to associate - because I have no idea what they're doing and they don't want to tell me. So why would I follow along something that someone wants me to - just for their own sake at mine? Nope - that's just not that ethical - you know? I guess I got the deets from this channel, which is why I come here.
whats the name of the book about there being no such thing as free will? id be interested in reading it
9:31 The 🌱🍫Reese's are so good. I literally went to Walmart & bought the whole 12 pack of them. Both the 🌱Hershey's & 🌱Reese's

Where you mentioning robert sapolsky regarding the free will book? Bc omg I'm glad to see more people talk abt his stuff:)
I find both the plant based Hershey's and Reeces at my local Publix in FL. I love them, especially the Reeces!
Sometimes when I buy dark chocolate,it says on the ingredients "may contain trace amounts of dairy". I assume that means that it was made on a machine that also makes dairy products so their might accidentally be small amounts , would you buy that or not?
@@davidsheriff9274 This is just so that people with allergies can't sue them. It means nothing, really. They have to legally put this disclaimer when a vegan product is made in the same factory as dairy products, I don't think the same machines are used.
Worth noting that a turkey doesn’t have to die for feathers to be collected. Juvenile turkeys molt 4 times a year and adults molt twice a year.
Feathers are used in a wide variety of crafts so they are most likely collected and sold outside of the plucking process.
the Kentucky derby is this big trendy event now because of the outfits, cocktails and the pretending to be rich aesthetic, I live in buffalo which has nothing to do with Kentucky or derbys but there’s themed parties and events etc
Saratoga Springs has a big derby days.
Video suggestion/request; I'd love it if you could discuss all this news surrounding sucralose and erythritol. I use artificial sweeteners and my family won't stop sending me articles vilifying them. I don't usually trust this sort of fear mongering, but I would love to hear your opinion and see if there's any validity to the claims. Especially the study on sucralose and DNA damage.
Yeah it's trash, but it's OUR trash 😂
It's not that I don't like pets, it's that I don't like them enough to clean up their pee/poo and take them to the vet for 15+ years. A few years before my cat died, I just randomly saw her sitting on my attic stairs chewing on a piece of string... AND THE END OF THE STRING HAD A NEEDLE THREADED ON THE END OF IT. The needle was literally in her mouth by the time I got to her and managed to pull the string out. I would have had lifelong regret if she had swallowed that needle.
So yeah, at this point I'd much rather just enjoy animals from afar in my yard where they seem happy and take care of themselves.
Kroger sells the plant based Hershey's products in the candy aisle (not at the cash register). I think they're good.
Hey, just wondered if you would give me the details of the book on free will? Thanks! Love your videos ❤
Your intro was cracking me up! Your audience gave you feedback that r/vegan is too extreme when the running joke is that the real vegans are in r/vegancirclejerk. Would love to see you do a video on that subreddit.
I think arguably I’m a “more extreme” vegan than you but I love hearing your perspective anyway. Thanks for keeping going all these years. We appreciate you! :)
The discussion about needing to love pets/animals is great. I don't like pigs. I think they're ugly and gross and I don't care that they're smarter than a toddler. That doesnt mean that I want to eat them or have them suffer. I just want them to enjoy their lives somewhere else.
Some hypothetical person who only eats bananas because they like the taste can totally have an "you do you" attitude towards eating meat (despite them being technically a vegan), right?
I credit this subreddit for helping me to get to be vegan. You definitely have to take some people with a grain of salt and realise that the internet is full "interesting" people, but overall I've learned heaps, and been given great advice and support.
What was the name of the book on free will?
It's a super toxic place. I've noticed that fellow vegans seem to have a meltdown if you have an experience that is different than theirs. If you struggle with one of the many aspects of veganism, the vultures come out and start ripping you apart. You're never good enough for them.
How dare you struggle! I now try not to use that specific thread, it's a breeding ground for angry, judgemental people.
I had coworkers that went to the Derby and it was really hard for me to sit there and listen to them on the Monday after. Really hard to be professional.
I am not yet vegetarian but we are headed there.
@Lurch Vegans have no right to demand anything of non-vegans, yet you feel it's ok to tell us how we should advocate for an ethical philosophy you demonstrably don't understand. Welfarism still views animals as commodities. Vegans don't
The guy with the vegan wedding is probably like my BIL. He thinks of veganism as like a liberal thing so he is against it. He literally said when someone asked me if I had tried the impossible whopper that he would not try it if you paid him and that if he found out someone had given him meat substitute he would be really angry and feel violated. Like he had been forced to do something against his political beliefs. If somebody invited my sister to something and said the menu would be exclusively vegan or even vegetarian I could see him refusing to go out of protest and saying he couldn't tolerate being around a bunch of liberal snowflakes anyway. Yes he's on of those and the guy that posted that story sounds like he is also.
Shoutout for the authors of these beautiful drawings on the wall ♡
YES! We need more!
My biggest issue with the sub is the prevalence of anti-natalist reactionaries there, but expecting reddit to not be reactionary is like expecting a fish not to swim
I remember a sub called "vegan martyr" about making the worst vegetarian takes while being rude/offensive/unrelated and making the sub members basically brigade their downvoted comments.
I haven't watched you for some time. I missed the ranting 😅 I just wanted to say you look really good, something about GHD and the lipstick 😊
and then wild pierogi post appeared - I had to think for a minute because pierogi are vegan, but then I remembered some are made with cheese
Animal welfare is not great within the horse world, lve seen so many people defending using painfull spurs and bites because they have "gental hands"
what's the book about free will called?
Would feathers be more of a coproduct and not a byproduct?
When non-vegans go "eww!" or refuse to eat one meal that doesn't involve torturing animals, I just can't help but think how terrible their diet must be - they're probably the types that never eat vegetables or have any fiber. I think they're like little toddlers shaking their head at veggies. Yes, TATA.
I really enjoyed this one! Really like hearing your opinions/tips on things. More like these please :)
Love to see the support for the vegan wedding. Why would the couple have to pay for something they don't support? My cousin's finance is vegan (their wedding is actually tomorrow!) and i would have been fine with only vegan options despite being a meat eater. I do try to limit my consumption and i give it up completely every year for Lent, so maybe I'm a bit biased tho
I understand your reasoning but it still makes me so sad that you don't enjoy being around animals 😢
I LOVE interacting with animals…more than humans 😂
I've always loved animals and growing up we always had cats and dogs. But myself as well, I just don't want to have pets since having kids. I don't want any more mess or having to take care and give my attention to another being at home. My son is also slightly allergic to dogs so he's not a fan. I do love them and enjoy playing with them but glad not to have them at my apartment.
I really enjoy checking in the subreddit and see how big it's gotten. There's some good and cringe posts, but a pretty decent sub to scroll through.😊
So what’s the free will book?
I belong to r/vegan, but I spend more time on r/DebateAVegan.
Great video. I liked that you talked about animal abuse that is not part of meat production. We don’t always talk about those abuses.
Please do not eat mainstream, non-fair trade chocolate. Those companies continue to source from farms that use child slave labor to work on the cocoa farms.
I think your view on the inability of most people to change might not be very acurate becuase, although the rate is very slow, we are changing for the better. Though your genetic view may account for the slow pace. ❤️
I have cats because they are domestic, invasive animals so they shouldn’t run wild, and the alternative is killing them. And they’re baby.
5:50 What is a difference between a vegetarian and ominvore in terms of exploitation and slaughter it is well possible that a vegetarian can exploit, thats not to mention that vegetarians create more suffering for animals e.g. eggs laying hens and diary cows
This is the earliest I've been to a video of yours😅
What are your thoughts on vegetarians? I’m a vegetarian (but I don’t eat much dairy, I stopped drinking regular milk and eating mostly plant based the majority of the time). I don’t know why a lot of vegans hate vegetarians so much and put them at the same level of meat eaters.
Because ur the same as a meat eater who only eats little bit of meat. What’s stopping u being vegan and do you exploit animals for fashion and entertainment. Do u avoid where possible products tested on animals
What are your thoughts on meat eaters? Why don't you like to be on the same level? I think that could help understand some of the pushback from vegans.
I'm an ardent vegan who doesn't like having pets and rarely gets attached to animals. It's good to know I'm not alone lol
Yes, the subreddit is trash. I got bashed for speaking positively of the Impossible Burger.
To comment on the "vegan having pets". I had a bunny for 10 years as a kid/teenager. Everything went well and he seemed very happy, even petprofessionals agreed. However, he had a very bad case of scratching his one eye, and the last year of his life it just got worse. Then one day I found him limping and having diarrhea. I obviously decided that was the end since he was so old and didn't have any siblings left to keep him company + I didn't want to take on another bunny just for that. Since then I haven't wanted another pet. I had panic attacks and nightmares for a long time since bunny's death, I blame myself for "poor care" (even though petprofessionals have asured me I did what I could, and made the right decision to end it) and I don't want to EVER again be in that position to see a pet suffering by my hand. That is the emotional part of it. Plus pets cost a lot.
I’m in a one sided feud with Earthling Ed (he is of course a normal person who doesn’t know I exist). He posted a few videos advising poor care practices for pet/rescued chickens. He even posted some videos of sanctuary chickens in his care dying from conditions like being egg bound that are generally associated with stress and/or insufficient calcium (although he blamed it on the chicken breed). The most literal example I’ve seen of killing someone with kindness. It’s bad enough that he posted a video of him unknowingly abusing an animal (and the consequences of that abuse), it’s worse that the same video contained copious amounts of self praise. I think people don’t care because it’s chicken vs a dog/cat. If his dog had died of anemia because of flees, he couldn’t get away with blaming it on the dog breed.
So true. I’m the only vegan in my and my husband’s family plus at work also. It’s tough but I managed. 😂 I bring my own food to family functions because they don’t like making extra food just for me and I don’t expect them to. But I’m glad that they don’t complain I bring my own foods
Major trigger warning for descriptions of animal agricultural practices:
The thing that flipped the final switch to making the decision to be vegan was seeing a clip of pigs being hanged because they looked like people.
Reddit is mostly trash and r/vegan is definitely in the top 1% of that🥴
You really need to take your cat to the vet. Chronic respiratory/sinus/sneezing issues are often linked to dental/rotting teeth causing infections in the nasal cavity. Seek treatment for your cat. It's likely in misery.
First off, not my cat. Second, no treatments have worked (MIL is a former vet tech). He's had upper respiratory issues since he was a kitten. Antibiotics didn't clear it, so it's likely inflammation. His breathing is good (no wheezing) and he has good energy for a senior cat and eats well...too well lol.
You've missed the whole ( and there's a LOT) of the " we should never have babies anymore", thing. It's all over the place. I don't know how it's called, but it's trendy on that subreddit. 3:23 relatable. I'd never date anyone that wants to 'go vegan' for me, because they don't know what vegan is and won't stick to it. They likely don't like me either - if they don't have the same views and just don't care about animals to begin with outside of dating. You have to think - if they need someone else to go vegan - are they? I'd rather people be true to themselves than be vegan for fake reasons - as then it isn't legit - and then veganism isn't. It doesn't work when they lose their life to something they just don't believe and drag others into it too!
I’ve never seen “faux feathers”. has anyone ever seen a faux feather?
I see them in the arts shops I visit often. Usually in really bright and ugly colours, though.

@@CherryGirl113 great that u r vegan. A lot of people struggle on raw. Cooked food is still very good for u and in some ways for some food is better. Whatever helps u stay vegan. Vegan for the animals
@@MoistVegan oh Lord - here I go gonna say this with all the love 💗 in the world; you can’t take care of animals if you don’t put yourself first - we have to be Vegan because it’s probably what our species was meant to eat. Hahahahaha it’s about the truth. Also we are killing ourselves as a species eating processed and cooked food. We’ve been lied to i succumbed to looney John Rose hahaha don’t judge 👩⚖️ me I know. Hahahahaha but it makes sense. We’ve eroded our ability to eat off nature JUST LIKE THE ANIMALS. One thing is for sure. If I was on a deserted island and saw a fish 🐠or any animal , my instinct would not be to look at it and salivate. I’m a bit pissed I didn’t get to choose this as a child. Hahahahaha
@@CherryGirl113 yeah it’s good to be healthy but some don’t choose to be healthy. Even if eating meat was healthy I would still be vegan.
Yes when people go vegan it’s very common to feel awful about what u have done to animals before being vegan. I went vegan at age 37. Look forward and defend animals and speak up for them
Good video overall, but respectfully, you should do more research on vegan catfood before claiming that you would probably have to feed your cat meat. That's very untrue. There's a whole 2023 medical research paper Mic the Vegan discussed in a somewhat recent video of his among other research that shows that both dogs and cats can be very healthy when fed commercial vegan cat foods. Also, keep in mind that these vegan cat foods have been around for *several decades* and are specifically formulated with the nutrients they need added. I have two vegan cats myself that are super healthy, and there are countless vegans with healthy vegan cats. (before I knew about vegan cat food I felt how you did about animal companions for awhile -- after, I adopted two strays and have helped save many other stray kittens.)
About pets, i think feeding a cat their natural diet is not the problem. Cats are obligate carnivores. They cant break down animal protein. And the pet food industry is shit. Thats why the life expectency of dogs and cats is just going down. Cats will get kidney stones, then kidney disease, then kidney failure if you put them on a vegan diet. Dogs are ominvores but they cant make the decision to go vegan themsleves. Because the pet food industry is so bad (it really does not give dogs and cats a proper diet.) You really should educate yourself on what a dog and cat need and feed them that. In their natural diet, cats dont need any veggies. We only give house cats some veggies because we have to supplements because they dont live off of the entire caracass that they hunt every day. And most veggies are divieded into 3 categories for cats: 1) they are not toxic and have nutrients that can benefit the cat- ie pumpkin and sweet potato have fiber, coconut oil has fat. Though animal fat is best for them. 2)the veggies is just straight up toxic, 3)the veggie is not toxic but has no nimitritional value for the cat at all.
The real problem with having pets is the domesticstion of them. Humans took animals from the wild and robbed them of their independence and freedom. And cats and dogs have been out of the wild so long, we can't just put them back. When humans have them as pets we also do not learn really how to care properly for them, infantilize them, exploit them...people think they love cats and dogs (and/or all animals) but they dont actually respect them. Not only have humans fucked with dog ans cat DNA just to get particular traits we want, but we dont give a second thought to their feelings, buying and selling them, takinging them abruptly from their mother and litter mates, never allowing fathers to bond with the young, we neuter and spay them for our own convienence which goes against their very nature because it makes it easier for us instead of dealing with litter after litter because we dont allow animals to do what is natural to them. Even though many people think they love dogs and cats, humans kill dogs and cats just as they do other animals for behavior not liked but is actually normal and healthy. A dog bites q human 3 times, regardless of the reason, regardless of extent of injury, and the city will put the dog down. Just like a moutain lion attacks a child on a hiking trail, the city tries to kill the moutain lion. We dont even try to feed dogs and cats their natural diets. We control them and force them.
Cats cannot live on a plant based diet.
Dogs can, but they wont be happy. They wont understand why you are doing it. They wont have sympathy or empathy when it comes to prey animals. But also, an animal hunting is not like a human hunting.
We have a choice. They dont. Plus, eating meat is not unnatural. Its unethical when you have a choice. When you live in the wild, where survival is a battle every minute, you dont have the luxury to not eat meat. It is too easy a source of many nutrients needed to survive. Even herbeviors will eat meat in the wild when given the opportunity. Like when a deer comes across a recently dead carcass from the meal of a predator. Dogs and cats still have wild instincts, despite thousands of years of humans trying to change that, they can just be unrefined at times. And animals do not factory farm and they do not cause unnecessary suffering. Animals do not do anything without a reason. And that reason is living as long as possible. And their behavior was molded by thousands of years of trial and error in determining what works best in the wild to survive as long as possible.
Domestication is what is unethical. Keeping animals as prisoners is what is unethical. Biology determined animals diets. And we may think we treat animals as part of the family, but we usually are not. Not really. Humans can think they love someone/something and not respect them/it. And forcing an animal to live a plant based diet, a carnivore animal or even a omnivore is unethical because it is making a decision for an animal, that has to eat the diet it eats, and even animals eating other animals does not cause the harm and destructuon humans cause by eating meat, as well as all the other ways we cause harm to them. Animals do not have the choice humans do.
And esp for cats. Again, they are OBLIGATE carnivores. They have to eat other animals to survive. It is the ONLY way they survive.
This is why a lion that hunts and eats a zebra is not automatically bad and the gazelle is good because it eats grass. Not only is it a bit more complicated in the wild, but veganism is about being ethical (which is often about grey areas and specific situations)and not causing UNNECESSARY harm and suffering.
I have two small dogs that I love very much. It’s OK for people not to want pets and for parents who are very busy and already keeping little kids alive. What drives me crazy about parents is when they give away their pets when they have a baby. I think it’s gross and really mean to the animal(s)
Yes it can be but not all animals are compatible with small babies and it's better than a baby being mauled, hopefully they find them a good home ♡
@@kaylalovespups3441 NO!
@CS-xl9xv lol if you value dogs more than people you need to grow up love but I can understand why tbh
@@kaylalovespups3441 don’t have a baby or kids if you’ll abandon your dogs once you have them or don’t get pets at all. You made a commitment to your pet you pretended they were a family member to then just discard them. People having babies and then giving away their pets is gross

All i have to say about pets is: "don't shop, adopt"
A ton of backyard breeders in my area try to take advantage od that slogan. They advertise their cats and dogs as adoptable (for a huge fee). It's insane how many people fall for that trick.
Thank you for not trashing your vegetarian followers-- we love you!
You should stop unnecessarily exploiting and oppress other animals
