Great video, always enjoy when Ryan is on! There are a few albums from these years I have to mention: I really enjoy the first two Funny Money albums, War&Peace- The Flesh and Blood Sessions, Erotic Suicide's second album - Perseverance, Mad Margritt's first album - In the Name of Rock, Shameless - Queen 4 a Day, Bad to the Bone- Itchin', and Davy Vain- In From Out of Nowhere. Two that are great but were releases of older material are: Jailhouse-S/T and Badlands- Dusk. I should've included Jailhouse's Alive in a Mad World EP for 1989, "Please Come Back" is one of my favorite underground hair metal songs
Great episode. Definitely a couple that I haven’t heard of and going to check out. I’m 52 and grew up loving the 80’s hair metal and still into it just as much as then but I always think of buckcherry as a bastard child of GnR and L.A. Guns and I would put Buckcherry’s ‘99 debut on my list and Saliva’s 2000 debut. Those would be the bands that obviously weren’t out in the 80’s but I thought they were bringing back that classic feel especially Buckcherry. And I love that great white album and the new tattoo album. The song Fake is a great motley tune. Bon Jovi’s crush album is cool. Different vibe but cool and I like most of slaughter’s back to reality album. Slaughter has always had a cool opening track with their albums
Shit, I can't believe I didn't include the Buckcherry debut, because I'm right with you, I love that album. I must've forgotten it came out during this time frame... shit. Also need to revisit Back to Reality. Hey, I really appreciate your support, Brother.

Hey, man, thanks a lot for the kind words. You're right... not a great period at all. Some decent music, but not a period a love to revisit. Thanks again for supporting the channel, I really appreciate it.
Guru, take another listen to Slaughter’s Back To Reality. It is awesome, so much swagger and groove. Jeff Blando adds a Zakk Wilde feel to it. Ryan, if you give Belly To Belly another spin, it’s an album that benefits from being very aware of the lyrics. They are brilliant. 1996 to 2000 were huge years for me because my band was getting the opportunity to open for all our heroes when they came through town. We had an iconic club that everyone would play on their way up or on their way down (and some like Ozzy and Bon Jovi would play it to warm up for big tours). So if it was hard rock/ hair metal we would get the call. We got to open for Warrant, Firehouse, Great White, Tesla, Sebastian Bach, Dee Snider, Kix, it was a magical time. A few more releases that I loved: Mr. Big - Get Over It 1999 (Ritchie Kotzen on guitar and it smokes) Slaughter - Revolution 1997 ( some great songs, CMC records kept the genre alive for awhile) Buckcherry - Self Titled 1999 (absolute blast of fresh air, just blew me away) Then Poison had 2 releases in 2000 - Crack A Smile & More and Power To The People. The & More part of Crack A Smile is pure shit but the Blues Saraceno songs are fantastic and the 5 new songs on Power are great but the live tracks are worthless.
I saw motley’s dr feelgood tour here in Ohio with Tesla summer of ‘90 and Johnny crash opened the show and that was the first I’d ever heard of them. They were surprisingly loud but in a good way. Motley must of gave them good sound lol.
I got autographs from the singer and guitar player at a McDonalds the day after their show with Motley at Val du Lakes in Michigan. Only one album but it's a good one.
Most of the albums mentioned I tbh haven't given much thought to. I often and probably incorrectly in some cases assume that alot of the 90's/00's albums released by 80's bands in one way or another feature a more modern sound or style. With that being said some absolutely killer obscure glam got released in that time period. Guttersluts, Spiral Fetish, Orphan Punks, Hollywood Teasze, The Mistakes, The Peppermint Creeps, Pretty Boy Floyd, Trash Brats and Sick Six Crush etc....all released albums in that era that i absolutely love!
Shit, Brother, I need to do an episode on that stuff, but I need to spend some more time with it before I do. Working on it! And, hey, I really appreciate your support. Seriously.

Part of the problem was few bands could get any radio airplay or promotion at all. There were actually some good albums that came out but so many of the bands were on something like the CMC International Label at that time. I appreciated the label signing so many of the bands but they didn't have the finances to push anyone. Not hair metal but Bruce Dickinson put out a couple of great solo albums.
Yeah, like I said, these bands could've put out The Dark Side of the Moon and radio wasn't going to push it. And that sucked. Hey, thanks for watching man.
I'll throw in Bob Catley - The Tower (1998) and Legends (1999) - great albums written by Gary Hughes. And if you like David Glen Eisley, there's the s/t Murderer's Row from 1996, a super group also featuring Bob Kulick and Jimmy Waldo (I don't think it originally got an US release.) And because it's Mike Tramp, his solo album Capricorn from '97 - it's softer but I like it a lot. The 90s stuff from Yngwie and Pell is great, and if you like this, definitely check out what Riot did during those dark years!

I don't get all the hate for "Shadowlife" by Dokken. It is a departure from the standard sound but I actually like it more than the "Dysfunctional" album that preceded it. As far as ballads go if you like "Nothing Left to Say" off Dysfunctional you should like "Bitter Regret" off Shadowlife. Beautiful song. The other ballad "Convenience Store Messiah" has some nice lyrics about a store worker that helps local homeless people. I really like that one too. I like the faster songs such as "Sky Beneath My Feet", "Here I Stand", "Puppet on a String" also too. To be fair I like grunge and alternative music too and if you absolutely hate that I can understand why Shadowlife wouldn't appeal. However, I still insist that "Bitter Regret" is a really nice ballad that should be given a fair listen.
I don’t really visit these years for hair metal , certainly a weak era . Which is why the second wave of hair/sleaze metal from Sweden /Europe became a great little movement from 2000-2010ish , like Vains of Jenna , Crashdiet , reckless love , dirty penny and like you mentioned hardcore super star 🤘
Axel Rudi Pell was originally in a band called steeler not to be confused with Ron keel band steeler but anyway he in my opinion never lost his form and just kept making the music he likes through the 90s and until today but many other bands lost that formula by 96 especially but a few returned to it by 99-2000 for example TNT 1997 firefly to me isn’t very good but TNT transistor 1999 is much better and closer to that original TNT formula as always thank you for these videos your subscribers love them and we appreciate you
Helldarado isn't a bad album. But they definitely went full 180 from where they went with their previous album, K.F.D. In which was a much different from anything else they've done. But one hell of an album regardless. They definitely shocked many people with that album and stage show for that one. Helldarado was a 180 back to their early days. And pretty darn good to me. But I would of probably preferred another angry album like K.F.D. from them before going back to the earlier type of music

I'd totally buy a shirt that says, "They call me the Guru!"
I saw Enuff Znuff open for Ace Frehley a few years ago. Chip talked more about cocaine in his stage raps than any other singer I've ever seen.
Velocity is a lesson in great guitar solos & songwriting ! Just a little late to the party ! David Victor knows stuff ! 😂😂😂🙋♂️🙋♂️🙋♂️
Listened to some of that album tonight... good shit.
@@HairMetalGuru419 truly a hidden gem !
You Don't Amaze Me Anymore slays!! 😎🤟
@@michaelhenderson5946 hearing that opening riff , I was in !
I was privileged enough to have Velocity played on my local radio station.
KINGDOM COME and KROKUS have a s*** ton of albums that you need to look at
just can't do any lillian axe and i'm from louisiana
Its hard to listen to Enuff z Nuff without DV.
agreed…songwriting, singing, and production all suffer when he left.
@@patrickreeves4650 His newer solo stuff is really good.
I really haven't spent much time at all with the post-Donnie releases. Yeah, I can't imagine them being up to par with his shit.
@@byrontownsel7274 he can do no wrong in my book.

It was...bleak. The one two punch of Psycho Circus and The Phantom Menace almost killed me.
Check out The Bronx, their first album is something I feel like you’ll dig. Get on it!
One album that rivals the sheer crappiness of Dokken's 1997 "Shadowlife" is Lynch Mob's 1999 "Smoke This" !
Sammy and neal schon had another attempt at a super group Planut Us forgot all about those songs though.
sammy left and schon replaced him with jeff scott soto. thats how soto wound up in journey for a short time.
Today is the day. Fresh young beard..and flannel.. rub the Band-Aid off and do it already
Fresh back from a woketube incarceration. Time to rock.
I get a 24 hour timeout once a week for telling truths.
Welcome back, Brother! Glad you're here, man, I mean that.
I love 90s 2000 hair metal...Danger Danger DAWN .. Warrant UNDERTOW... Kingdom Come...Britny Fox SPRINGHEAD MOTOR SHARK
Rock music in general really began slipping in the late nineties, not just hair metal.
HAIL Jorn Lande, so many awesome albums, including solo.
@@craigmetallaw that album he did with the band Millenium called "Hourglass" is utterly classic in my book! 😎🎸🎵
@@michaelhenderson5946 It is good! I've got that on CD, autographed by the band!
Goran Edman
Axel Rudi Pell was originally in a band called steeler not to be confused with Ron keel band steeler but anyway he in my opinion never lost his form and just kept making the music he likes through the 90s and until today but many other bands lost that formula by 96 especially but a few returned to it by 99-2000 for example TNT 1997 firefly to me isn’t very good but TNT transistor 1999 is much better and closer to that original TNT formula as always thank you for these videos your subscribers love them and we appreciate you
those steeler albums are kick arse
They sure are
The Japanese copy has a great song upon your lips that's not on the U.S. COPY of erase the slate
Sweet Pain > Sneeze Beez
D.C. LaCroix..Malice .. White Sister .Hellion.
Better Forgotten
just letting you know... I hate the album
Helldorado is trash. WASPs worst cd by a mile
Wasp never put out a bad album though
Damn, tell us how you really feel.
I've always listened to it even when it fell out of favor, still do long live
rock n roll
