Hi Coach, How are you doing? I'm going to test your Vertical Jump workouts and I already have the PDF. In 3 or 6 months I will comment again. Did I really increase my vertical jump with your exercises yes or no. Let's put it to the test I will follow step by step. Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷🗑️🏀🙌
Hi Nathan I was planning on training my jump in the summer and wanted to show you the exercise I have listed Jump ropes 3 set 5 min Squats 3 set 6 reps Deadlift 3 set 6 reps Box squats 3 sets 6 reps One leg squats 3 sets 6 reps These are the exercises I was planning on doing 3 time a week for three month. I’m just show you this because I wanted your opinion on what I should ditch and keep or what to add to this workout. You are a huge inspiration because I never thought I would dunk a basketball ( I’m 5”6 btw) but since I’ve been watching your videos you have inspired me to try plz read this and thx you for your fun videos
Glad that I could play a part in inspiring you to move towards your goals! Your workout is okay but squats, box squats, and one leg squats are all essentially working the same thing. I would ditch the box squats, alternate regular squats and one leg squats each time you do your workout, and add a hamstring exercise like Nordic Curls, One Leg Romanian Deadlifts, or even just a hamstring curl at your gym. I would also add more plyometrics at the beginning after jump rope but before squats. One or two would be fine. I would recommend Shock Pause Jumps or Ski Jumps. I would also superset your Squats with Dumbbell Squat Jumps using very light dumbbells (5 or 10lbs). So it would look like this: Warm Up Jump Rope Shock pause Jumps ua-cam.com/video/tQGxJqESntc/v-deo.html Ski Jumps ua-cam.com/video/7YO7z_1rAck/v-deo.html Squats superset with Dumbbell Squat Jumps (or One Leg Squats superset with Dumbbell Squat Jumps)(Remember to alternate these days - one Monday, one Wednesday, etc) Deadlifts Hamstring Exercise This would be your best bet. Good luck! Also you may get tired doing this 3x per week. If you ever feel sore/tired I would skip the Wednesday session that week and do Monday and Friday only. Cheers!
NOTI SQUAD I'm following your squat and Deadlift tips and I'm also doing Depth jumps, I have 2 months left of your squat program (the isometric and concentric phase) and so far it has been going pretty good. I will come with an update in a few months, if I don't forget :)
@@kam_go_stupid I remember I went from not being able to touch the net to reaching the middle of the net in the first week. Idk how much that is in measurements tho
Only added an inch or two. My max vert is already decently high - it would do much more for someone younger with less training experience. I'll make sure to add my before and after max vert in videos like this in the future
Start small, work slow and stay consistent! No need to take huge steps after an injury. Keep the foundation solid and consistently build upon that. You got it bro.
Noti Squad! Hyped to see this cause i recently started adding more plyos like this back to my routine cause i got rid of my shin splints! also how should i do plyos in season? should i do half sets or just cut them out or should i focus on the plants that i do not do as much in game?
Glad your shin splints are gone! So whichever plyos you do, definitely progress very slowly - that is important so the shin splints do not come back. I would focus mainly on your weaker approaches (as you already are using your best approaches all the time in practices and games). This will balance everything out. Also, a few plyos can be good. Depth Jumps, Squat Jumps with light dumbbells, Ski Jumps, Broad Jumps. These are plyos you don't really replicate in practice and would be fine to add. Definitely do them at low volume. 3-4 sets of 5 reps is a great set and rep scheme.
@@NathanaelMorton for sure. I can’t even temper the last time they bugged me tho. They used to be annoying after like 10 jumps at basketball training and now I can go jumping and playing my style and they don’t come back. Still doing rib raises and all that stuff to help. But thank you as always!
Bro should we go in this order every leg day, 2 plyos, any type of squat, hamstrings, hamstrings, calf’s, abs? Is there anything you’d switch or is that good?
Yes that's the order that I would go in. I may categorize it as "posterior chain" instead of just hamstrings. So including the glutes and lower back with exercises like Kettlebell Swings, Hip Thrusts, etc etc. So the order would be plyos, Squats, posterior chain, calves (and tibialis anterior), and then core.
thanks 🙏 Nathaneal- I realise your niche is basketball 🏀 - but wondered if you’d come across a similar plyo - programme for sprinters? Your programme encourages great development for ankle ‘stiffness’ dorsiflexion - force transfer/generation - but is there any good sprint specific programme? 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
With Jake Tuura? Unfortunately all videos were taken upright on our phones so they wouldn't be wide screen. Maybe I'll post anyways and talk about it with just the phone videos. I think people would like to see.
@@NathanaelMorton Yes I do I have also incorporated some off your workout and I m hoping when I able to dunk I will be Abel to share my video with you, I m already able to grab the rim thanks to you.
Hey man I love your vids, I know you mostly post vids on training/ improving vertical jump; But I’d love to see a reaction vid, or even your thoughts on DUNK league. Like some of the dunks they’re doing are crazy, and I’d love to hear ur opinion on the difficulty of the dunks, and if you think that type of scoring system is flaud!
You know I thought about this.. I was going to do it. But I really am not immersed in the world of dunking all like that. Like I don't even know the names of half of these dunks or how hard they actually are. Maybe I'll dive more into it. I definitely can say I am sad to see Isaiah go. That's my guy
True I should have - problem is my vert is already pretty high. These depth jumps might have added 1-2 inches if that. It did more for my reactive speed/strength than my actual raw vertical
I have knee pain when I do back squats but not front squats. I’ve been doing depth jumps trying to increase vertical. I only have like maybe a 26 inch vertical right now but I believe I can increase it a lot with methods like you’re teaching in this video. I’m not sure how to “fix” my knees but all I know is jumping doesn’t necessarily hurt me at all. Any advice would be appreciated.
Try incorporating cyclist squats into your routine. They are good at strengthening your Vastus Medialis Oblique. This muscle is responsible for balance and knee support.
The same body weight program would apply for volleyball and basketball players! The difference is that when I say to do one foot jumps you do all two foot because it’s specific to volleyball.
If we can’t do your squat program with box squats, should I front squats again? I’ve used front squats 2 times with ur squat program so 6 months I’ve used em
