I went in 2011 for the world cup. I only saw a few games and spent the rest going all over the country east, west, north and south. As my first trip overseas I remember the first day thinking how am I going to handle this. However by the 2nd day and allowing myself to live the culture by the end of the trip I was sad to leave. Truly a life changing experience and one I wouldn't change at all. Beautiful country and people. Thanks India
Sam and Audrey, am a resident of India and the way you described India, you earned my authenticity to believe on your Videos for the countries, I haven't visited. Thums up.

Have been loving the India series.. great job guys & you're doing a great job with fuelling the travel inspiration! Now planning our trip there as we speak. Looking forward to following your next adventures & thanks for keeping it real!
Sam and Audrey, I thoroughly enjoyed your India vlogs and appreciate and second your fantastic advice for India travel. I am a fellow Canadian and backpacked in 2007 for 5 weeks to many of the same locations you visited; Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Varanasi, Jaisalmer, Johdpur, Udaipur, and Mumbai. Absolutely loved North India. I'm a bit older now and have kids and after watching your vlogs with them they are very keen to see India as well. I cannot wait to share the experience that India is with them. I have always said that you cannot recommend India to anyone that is not excited at the idea of visiting India, but if they are eager to go, I cannot say enough of how great an experience it can be. Loud, cheap, chaotic, beautiful, welcoming, fast, slow, frustrating, exciting, maddening and charming...each and every day.
Thank you very much! Wow back in 2007. My 1st trip was in 2010 and it was fascinating to revisit again. That is so very true about how you describe India. Doing a family trip sounds like a fantastic idea :)
India can be divided into 3 regions -> North, South and Northeast. These 3 regions are very diverse and vary from each other. In this trip you guys did some of the north region. North - I felt you missed hill stations like Shimla, manali and Nainital from the states of Himachal and Uttarakhand. Punjab state in the north itself has a different food and culture altogether. So next time if you plan to visit north again, you can cover up these areas. South - There are 6 states in south india with each having their own language and culture. You should enjoy the backwaters, house boat etc. in Kerala and then visit the temples in Tamil Nadu. Hyderabad is a great place to try the biryani and experience the islamic monuments. You can go to Goa for all the fun, parties, booze and beaches. Northeast - There are 8 states in north india where around 200 languages are being spoken, which means the most diverse region in India. You can google and research which places you can visit here. So in the end you can't have all of India in your 1 trip. Here each state is like a different country with its own language, clothing, food, festivals and culture. So before planning your next trip, research thoroughly and plan wisely ;)
Thats right India will never rule the world, because we don't want to. we aren't megalomaniac like the Chinese govt. most people every where are cool. your aim is to rule and that makes you more enemies. most people love India, while most people are scared of china. you might like that, but its must be very lonely. So nah... we don't want to rule the world, we wanna be happy and have freedom. freedom must be an alien concept for you i presume.
Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. It is incredible how big India is and how many places there are worth seeing. I figure it would take years (if not a lifetime) to really cover it all.
Great advice guys. I am going there next month with my parents and relatives. I am sure these tips will make my trip wayyy better. Thank you so much. Love it
Next time when you go to India, I'd suggest you to visit smaller places, and definitely don't miss these 1) Kashmir 2) Darjeeling (take the mountain train) 3) Shimla (take the mountain train) 4) Manali 5) Somnath (Gujarat) 6) Dwarka (Gujarat) 7) Ellora Caves (Aurangabad, Maharashtra) 8) Ooty (take the mountain train) 9) Omkareshwar (Madhya Pradesh) 10) Great Rann of Kutch (Gujarat. If possible go here during the Rann Utsav festival and you can stay in the desert in tents. It's amazing!)
Mumbai... Goa.... Kanyakumari... Kerela backwaters.... Mysore.... Cochin..... Coorg..... Madurai... Pondicherry... are some really awesome tourist destinations down in South India
Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos I just found out your channel and its amazing. In this video what you have said is basically centered in the North. you have visited Delhi which is a very crowded city to be honest but a great place for experience. In the north there are places like Himachal pradesh and uttarakhand which are really beautiful mountain states. If you come to the south like Tamil nadu or in kerela you wil have a whole new experience. Its rather less crowded and sea based places. Now the next time you visit India don't forget to visit the Northeast India. Its the most underrated destination of India with untouched hills, mountains, waterfalls and valleys. You will feel kind of in South east Asia when you are here. I bet you won't regret coming to the Northeast which is very less crowded till now but soon will be because of its gaining popularity. there are places like the Wettest/Rainiest place in the world. The biggest river island of the world is here. you can find one horned rhinocerous here which is very rare and a whole lot more. Its impossible to mention here.
You really missed out the hill stations in India.. they are superbly amazing ... you don't have to worry about the warm temperatures there either... if you plan accordingly you could even get to trek the mountains in the Himalayas( which is one of the highest ranges in the world) ... & if you are a nature lover north eastern part of India(the seven sisters) is a must visit.. I went there with my family & few relatives (12 of us) & we absolutely loved it.. & as u said India is extremely cheap.
As you said, You came back again. Thanks alot. Please plan less congested trip to India next time, especially Southern part. Loved your collab with David.
I so very much want to visit India. I just read the book "A Long Way Home" - the book that became the movie "Lion". Now I am obsessed. Anywayz, Lots of good information y'all have given here. Foriegn money is something I have a lot of anxiety about because I'm super bad with math and transactions cause my mind to shut down. The complicated trains and hectic stuff makes me excited. It's good to know they have prepaid taxies. The health suggestions were very good. Luckily I've never gotten sick in Asia but I know I shouldn't let my guard down. Unlike y'all, I always focus on smaller places and and try to cover less territory. THanks so much for all the informative and entertaining videos.
Thank you! That is exciting to hear you'll be visiting India soon. We've heard the money issue at ATMs has been solved now for quite some time. Also, in terms of health hopefully you'll be lucky and not get sick. I have a few friends who have never been sick in India but most people do have a few issues on a longer trip.
I live in south India, precisely in Bangalore. I recommend visiting Hampi, Belur, Halebidu, Chikabangaluru (all are in the state of Karnataka), Mahabalipuram, Rameshwaram, Kanyakumari (the Pacific Ocean meets India ocean here), Puduchheri (all in the state of Tamil Nadu), Munnar, Kochi, Alappuzha (all are in the state of Kerala) and Goa. Andaman and Nicobar are the best places in India if you guys like beaches, it's about 1250 KM southeast from Kolkata. could be the super cheap destination if you compare the price with any island in Pacific ocean.
Love your Vblog...awesome feel. Few more places i will recommend you two to visit is Kerala in the South, Bengalore, Punducherry and Kashmir at north. I am planning my trip too for india again. It is an amazing destination and never ending discovery.
I got few friends who already visited those places i suggested to you, and they loved it alot. I am yet to visit but definitely trying to make it next year. Meanwhile..keep vblogging.
South India is nice try to visit it.... but also try north east India .. it's totally different from rest of India and it's beautiful... india, where u can get every type of landscape u imagine
Great! Even I am a young Indian youtuber. I am starting a new series in which every thursday I will upload a video in which I will give tips to foreigners before visiting India. So I hope that you all will support me. Series name- Helping Thursdays.
Wow! Such an amazing takeaway. You guys have nailed it in such a short span of time of your stay in India in contrast to what took me almost 25 years to comprehend! :P Whatever you've mentioned in the video holds true. One needs to plan in advance (although it doesn't help most of the time) and keep a buffer for impromptu stuff. I hope, people were nice to you throughout your stay. :)
One more tip for you guys is to stay or travel with an Indian friend who lives in the city. They will give you advice that the commercial guides will not give. They might also have experience and knowledge about lesser known spots and they will be great at bargaining and getting you fair prices.
@Eric Tomson u need to find many frnds from india... no single person can give u whole information about the India....find one or two from every region which u are going to visit.. ( tour guide is must nowadays) don't try to explore whole india in one go, its impossible!! focus only on one or two states of India in one trip !
I guess so, India is not easy to travel. If you plan to go to Kolkata I will give you some insider tips. I was born and raised in that city even though I live in Edmonton now.
Hey, thanks for sharing these things which are really helpful. Still didn't get a chance to see the recent videos that you guys have uploaded. Thanks again :)
when are you planning to visit India? try to go in winter season to avoid heat humidity in Mumbai, Konkan & Pune. konkan have beautiful beaches coastal area and good seafood. Alphanso mango is grown there and exported all over world !
From India being a largely cash based society in 2017 to having the one of the highest digital banking penetration in 2019, we've come a long way in two years.
People may love india or may hate india but nobody can ignore India. India is a world in its own. It is so diverse. Thats why its called as "Incredible India".
Actually you can travel in South India during from June/July. Travelling across the western ghats when the south west monsoon is in full swing is EPIC. You can even take konkan railway from mumbai to goa to start of the journey. There is also so much more you can see off the usual tourist destinations. Even Indians don't visit these destinations much. This was my epic trip couple of years ago. Mind you I have been to each of these destinations before Trip Route Starts from Goa --> Dharmasthala ----> Coorg ---> Bandipur national park ---->Mysore ----> mudumalai national park ----> Ooty ----> coimbatore ----> Silent valley ----> Palghat ----> Pathanamthitta ---> Calicut. I am not being biased when I say nothing has even come close to the above route in all my travels across the world. P.S. I like wildlife, rain, cool weather and bikes. Each destination is under 7-8hrs from each other so perfect Cheers
saw a couple of your videos and really liked it. Have you ever seen an Indian wedding in India. That's an adventure in itself. I am getting married this November in New Delhi and you are invited to attend if you can. I am from Toronto and will be travelling early November this year!!
I am glad to know that you had a nice time in India. I hope the demonetization issue would not deter you from visiting again. The suggestions given by people in comments are all great places. Please visit South and North-Eastern states in India next time you visit.
Hi Sam n Audrey! Love ur videos ! This visit of yours other than Varanasi was largely about medieval and modern India. Maybe plan an ancient India experience themed visit next time :) Do visit Hampi , Aihole , Vatapi ,Tanjore , Bhuwaneshvar (all ancient temple cities), Ajanta , Ellora , Bhimbetka , Kanheri caves (ancient caves) other places like Sanchi , Nalanda , Sarnath (all buddhism related), Konark . Maybe a few Indus valley civilization sites Lothal , Surkatoda , Dholavira etc .
Very good and informative suggestions by both of you. Audrey was looking like Indian Women in whole Indian Series. Thank you very much for showing our country in a nice way which can help a large number of viewers who are watching your channel. The best part of you is you have adjusted to our way in your tour which makes your tour easy. We wish that you will visit again and again.
From an Indian living in Canada - I watch such videos when I miss India and food, loved your videos! I second every tip you've shared, great job! This video should really be in the checklist for anybody planning on travelling to India. To be honest, the Auto drivers are a pain for locals too, they try to squeeze as much money as they can, really aggressive. And there are really good auto drivers who are the most humble and honest people, but if you are using this transportation your tip nails it. Most of the cities now have Uber & Ola cabs they are not very expensive and safer in my opinion. I wouldn't judge the restaurants with the point you made on goat heads being skinned on the street and left in the sun, it's funny how you went vegan most of your trip after seeing that.
Thank you very much! That is great to hear about uber and ola cabs. That point has been mentioned a few times now and I wish we had of known about it ourselves but I'm glad anybody reading the comments will consider that as an option. You're right about meeting some very kind and honest autorickshaw drivers.
I now live in Toronto, but as someone who grew up in Delhi, your tips are quite spot on! India can be your best/worst travel destination. I would recommend that if you ever visit India again, try Goa and Kerala (more towards the South), and Sikkim and Darjeeling (more towards North East). You're looking at some serious diversity in terms of food and natural beauty. Thanks for visiting my hometown!
Thank you very much! Cool to hear you live in TO as Audrey's family lives in the GTA (Brampton). Those are excellent suggestions. I would love if we could hit up both regions on a longer trip the next time we go to India.
I am from Hyderabad, India, and I have been to Victoria and Vancouver. Canada 🍁 is such a beautiful place, and Canadians were the most friendly people I came across.
Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos Indian politicians should definitely take a tour of Canada, and observe the levels of cleanliness, hygiene and order that they maintain.
Great video! If you plan to travel to the south of India next time I would highly recommend you visit Kerala (Kumarakom, Alappey, Munnar), Tamil Nadu (Karaikudi, Kaniya Kumari (the place where the Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal meet), Kodaikanal, Ooty, Mahabalipuram), Pondicherry, Karnataka (Mysore, Coorg), Pune and Goa.
WOW! , that was a brutally honest review about India. Everybody would surely experience these kinds of incidents while traveling in India. Next time visit the state of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand - the land of gods. Apart from Rishikesh(Yoga capital of the world), you can visit world-renowned conservation parks like ‘Jim Corbett Tiger National Park’ or world heritage sites like ‘Valley of Flowers’ and ‘Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve’, etc. Uttarakhand holds many important pilgrimage places for Hindus and Sikhs and provides you with the right mixture of Spirituality and adventure sports. the Gangotri glacier (primary sources of the holy Ganges), the Tehri Lake festival, skiing in Auli. Places to visit in Uttarakhand:- Chopta Auli Nainital Char Dham Tungnath Hemkund Sahib Mussoorie Rishikesh and many more......
Hey guys, love your videos, just wondering if this one uses the Canon or the Olympus.... just trying to figure out what camera to get for a upcoming trip to europe
Hi I am getting ready to go to India and wanted to ask, how did you guys book the trains in India? Is there a website you would recommend, and app? What resources did you use to book hotels and trains?
I've been watching your videos for past 3-4 hours :D When I see vlogs of travellers from other countries, most of the time I wish I were with them to help them communicate, to take them to nice places and keep them from getting robbed by those tuk- tuk drivers(I've seen them charging 1000 rupees from foreigners where it should have been even less than 100). You could've also taken uber in the big cities. And a flight from delhi to jodhpur would've been much cheaper than First AC train and would've taken no more than one and half hour. Trains in India tends to get late in Winter due to fog. But I'm sure you might have enjoyed the sightseeing in the train. I've lived in Rajasthan for more than 15 years, almost all of my childhood. And 5 years in Delhi. Yet I haven't visited as many places here as you have. I hope you had a good time here. 😊
Thank you very much! We really had a great trip. In hindsight, all of the experiences (both good and bad) are what make a memorable journey and we very much enjoyed our time in India. I hope we can return again soon.
You should visit dehradun, mussorie, nanital, shimla and ooty. These places are located in Himalayan mountains and the natural environment here is perfect for relaxing. These are small cities, yet they are beautiful.
u can visit mount abu, rajasthan if you are planning to visit rajasthan,,its a hill station, very beautiful place.u can see dilwara temple, nakki lake, frog temple and beautiful weather. i spent my summer holidays there when i was in school with my parents.i am from jammu and kashmir.
you can go to leh ladak, kerela, goa, andaman and nigobar islands, and vishakapatnam. Even cover mountains in Himachal. Just a tip, choose a state instead of the complete area. And airfare is much cheaper than 1st class or 2nd class train rides.
Why are you telling people to take freelance taxis? People will get scammed. Inform them to use ride shares like Uber or Ola. It is dirt cheap. They can order both cars or tuk tuk from these platforms. Also, digital payments is high in big cities. Even the road side sellers now have digital payments like PayTM and GooglePay. Get the SIM card from the airport, way less hassle, but a little expensive. And always use Google reviews or Tripadvisor to check reviews of a place.
If you wanna travel in train then opt for Rajdhani, Duronto, Shatabdi, Humsafar, Sampark Kranti series trains over normal express or SF trains. They usually get more priority, thus get less delayed. If you travel north India in winter(December-January), then your train will get delayed for fog. Trains do have AC 3-Tier, AC 2-tier, AC first class. First class is almost 2.5 times more expensive than AC 3-Tier. There is non-AC sleeper class in most trains, they are almost 60% cheaper than AC-3 tier, but not recommended for foreigners. If any problem is faced in train do contact TTE of that train, you may tweet it to indian railways.
Where did you guys buy train tickets online? First time I will be traveling this month and I have been wanting to get train tickets from Delhi to Agra; Agra to Jaipur; and Jaipur to Delhi.
I went in 2011 for the world cup. I only saw a few games and spent the rest going all over the country east, west, north and south. I agree with you Rohit..And also the North East part of India and its food
ambidex0 - and eat lizards and insects over there
and america would destroy china in a nuclear war

What about gods own country...land of back waters
@@midhunkannan6425 ewww

india is so diverse , even indians get sick in different cities...!!
I can see how that would happen.
that's mainly due to high temperature difference....
Don't compromise over eating outlets
Mumbai... Goa.... Kanyakumari... Kerela backwaters.... Mysore.... Cochin..... Coorg..... Madurai... Pondicherry... are some really awesome tourist destinations down in South India
Shiragra Singh totally agreed 👍
Awesome suggestions! The south would be our next trip I think :)

Thanks again :)

wow so helpful, thank you, ...i truly enjoyed your india trip!!
Thank you! We had a great trip :)
From India being a largely cash based society in 2017 to having the one of the highest digital banking penetration in 2019, we've come a long way in two years.
That is amazing to hear. Congratulations.
indddeeeeeeeeeeeddd yessssssssssssssss
People may love india or may hate india but nobody can ignore India. India is a world in its own. It is so diverse. Thats why its called as "Incredible India".
Very true!
Come to Karnatake the friendliest people you could find !! A lot of architecture and history too
Thanks for the tip!
Yes you should visit Karnataka
Actually you can travel in South India during from June/July. Travelling across the western ghats when the south west monsoon is in full swing is EPIC. You can even take konkan railway from mumbai to goa to start of the journey. There is also so much more you can see off the usual tourist destinations. Even Indians don't visit these destinations much. This was my epic trip couple of years ago. Mind you I have been to each of these destinations before
Trip Route
Starts from Goa --> Dharmasthala ----> Coorg ---> Bandipur national park ---->Mysore ----> mudumalai national park ----> Ooty ----> coimbatore ----> Silent valley ----> Palghat ----> Pathanamthitta ---> Calicut.
I am not being biased when I say nothing has even come close to the above route in all my travels across the world. P.S. I like wildlife, rain, cool weather and bikes. Each destination is under 7-8hrs from each other so perfect
Cheers
Thank you very much for sharing that! Such an awesome itinerary :)

Hi Sam n Audrey! Love ur videos !
This visit of yours other than Varanasi was largely about medieval and modern India. Maybe plan an ancient India experience themed visit next time :)
Do visit Hampi , Aihole , Vatapi ,Tanjore , Bhuwaneshvar (all ancient temple cities), Ajanta , Ellora , Bhimbetka , Kanheri caves (ancient caves) other places like Sanchi , Nalanda , Sarnath (all buddhism related), Konark . Maybe a few Indus valley civilization sites Lothal , Surkatoda , Dholavira etc .
Thank you! Such great suggestions :)

Try visiting in south India- Munnar and Hampi you won't regret it.
Thanks! Great suggestions :)
YES....just brilliant.....
Thank you very much! We loved our trip and hope to return again soon.
From an Indian living in Canada -
I watch such videos when I miss India and food, loved your videos!
You're right about meeting some very kind and honest autorickshaw drivers.
loved your videos.....do visit notheast india it will be a totally different experience
Thank you! Would love to come back to this region of India.
Enjoyed your India vlog. May I know which camera? Thanks!
Thank you! We got a new one a Lumix LX 10 for this series.
very informative...👍👍
Thank you!
why don't u visit Bangladesh?.. where u will find the longest seabeach at Coxs bazar..which is 120 km unbroken...!! (not kidding..)
Would love to visit Bangladesh!

I am from Hyderabad, India, and I have been to Victoria and Vancouver. Canada 🍁 is such a beautiful place, and Canadians were the most friendly people I came across.
Thank you! That is where I'm from actually :)
Thank you! Love these suggestions :)
nyc information
Thank you! Ah, that would be a good tips guide :)
how about wifi? sim cards? dongle? what do you suggest???
That to be honest we didn't do properly. We just used whatever Internet was available and it was usually quite slow.
I loved your video on Paris!
WOW! , that was a brutally honest review about India.
Places to visit in Uttarakhand:-
Chopta
Auli
Nainital
Char Dham
Tungnath
Hemkund Sahib
Mussoorie
Rishikesh and many more......
Thank you! Really appreciate these great suggestions.
hi guys, great video! Did you ever get a chance to update the camera model you were using that had the slow motion capturing feature?
Thank you! Sorry we haven't yet. It is the Panasonic LX 10. I believe outside of North America it is the LX 15 model.
hi guys, thanks for the response! and thanks for all the great videos!
you guys are awesome! you should visit tamil nadu, odisha and the north East ... do come again :)
Thankk you very much! I hope we can again someday :)
Hey guys, love your videos, just wondering if this one uses the Canon or the Olympus.... just trying to figure out what camera to get for a upcoming trip to europe
Thanks! I use the Olympus and Audrey uses the Canon mostly. Oh, Europe! Where do you plan to go?
Feel tired after all that. Nice moment on the boat with your Dad. He has a Columbo look about him. :)
Hey guys great video, very helpful :) Maybe I missed it but how did you book your tickets by train? Did you do it online before arriving? Thank you!
Thanks! We booked online using cleartrip dot com well in advance. Recommend booking early to secure the seats you want.
Hi I am getting ready to go to India and wanted to ask, how did you guys book the trains in India? Is there a website you would recommend, and app? What resources did you use to book hotels and trains?
Thank you! We used ClearTrip for trains and mostly booking dot com for hotels. Be sure to book your train tickets well in advance :)
for hotels= trivago, makemytrip, oyo rooms , etc
cab= ola , uber
train= irctc.com(ifficial web of railways) cleartrip, makemytrip:)
I've been watching your videos for past 3-4 hours :D
When I see vlogs of travellers from other countries, most of the time I wish I were with them to help them communicate, to take them to nice places and keep them from getting robbed by those tuk- tuk drivers(I've seen them charging 1000 rupees from foreigners where it should have been even less than 100).
You guys are amazing....after 7 hours of youtube videos...I'm still here 😃
Saurabh Siaag I hope you see my journey too! I am traveling to India in December!!!
Do visit south India 😍.....u would love it too!

Thank you very much! The one in Amritsar?
yes
What do you have to say about guides. What are the charges?
We only took a guided tour in Jaipur and it wasn't great. The fee for the tour wasn't that much but there were lots of hidden costs.
I love it!
Thank you!
come to kerala and karnataka next time it is really green in southern part of india . good luck in your next trips :)
Thank you very much! Really appreciate the suggestions.
Did you guys went to Mandore in jodhpur. Since I live there only.

You are welcome to ask anything about india when you make your next trip.
You should visit dehradun, mussorie, nanital, shimla and ooty. These places are located in Himalayan mountains and the natural environment here is perfect for relaxing. These are small cities, yet they are beautiful.
Thank you! Great suggestions :)
u got 1 subscribe
great video
u can visit mount abu, rajasthan if you are planning to visit rajasthan,,its a hill station, very beautiful place.u can see dilwara temple, nakki lake, frog temple and beautiful weather. i spent my summer holidays there when i was in school with my parents.i am from jammu and kashmir.
Thank you! Great recommendations :)
Great presentation thank you . how about the safety and security, the place where NOT to go, night life etc
you can go to leh ladak, kerela, goa, andaman and nigobar islands, and vishakapatnam. Even cover mountains in Himachal. Just a tip, choose a state instead of the complete area. And airfare is much cheaper than 1st class or 2nd class train rides.
Good tip!
Yeah, we totally get that now. Our mistake for sure with that advice.
you should also try ladhka or all maghlaya too
Thank you! hope we can.
wow cool 😁😀
Thank you!
You did good.
You should call your vlog-travel for foodies.😀
Thank you! We sure do love our food...haha
THank you for all of the great tips!
yes tweets to Indian Railways gets a 100% response rate post 26 May 2014
