30:45. My wife in 2016 asked me what I wanted for our 19th wedding anniversary, and I told her a new MS461, which she agreed to. I couldn't drive to the saw shop fast enough! On the way back I stopped to get her a Browning .270. I still have the saw, she has her .270, and we have each other.
Another good video!
Good one,I’ll have to use that.
Polished nuts.
The disdain for the client is not lost on me and I found it absolutely brilliant. Love your honest and real world take on things! You're a natural, keep up the great content. Cheers!
I always love your videos. The intros are always interesting.
I enjoy your simple, straight to the problem diagnosis and I LOVE your humor.
Thanks for the shout out! You're absolutley right about guys looking for an excuse they can give their wives. I see it here too. By the way, you may be right about that being a record amount of water. The most I've seen is about two thirds water.
I’ve seen lots of fuel / water mixes - but this one takes the cake! 🎂
Great video. 3 videos this weekend Erika brilliant. Thank you.
Many thanks!
At least the world knows he polishes his NUTS 😂
We used to use combi cans for fuel, at the bottom of the spout there was a recess that water could gather in. Nowhere near as much water as in that saw but enough to cause problems. On wet days we had to tip the combi up and let the water run out before we refuelled the saws. Another god video 👍
Thank you!
Love your videos! Take a look how the Greasy Shop Rag checks fuel and the no spill radiator funnel he uses, brilliant.
I will check it out
Excellent teaching, thank you ma'am!
Thanks for bringing me along for the overflow graveyard. Good tip on placing that carb on the bench. 😅
Hello from nova scotia. The 271 was my 1st saw i had bought in 2020 with a 16 inch bar then i traded it for a 500i a year after with a 20 inch light bar. I miss the 271 it was a good saw but it does NOT beat the 500i LOL. Only thing is the 500i don't like small twigs lol. It definitely likes wood and the bigger the wood the happier it is lol. You do great work, GOOD WORK 😉
Great Video, nice work, That saw had a close one.
Greasy shop rag is excellent for Husqvarna , lots of pro saws.
We're lucky to have such great professional content , information in an easy to understand way.
Thanks 👍
Love your nice closeups with the camera while you're doing the repairs Erica! I reckon there will always be folks out there that will not take care of their equipment the way that they ought to. Keeps folks like you and me busy with repairs as well as earning a few bucks on repairs. Still, I just can't bring myself to beat the crap out of my chainsaws. I depend on them way too much and I want them ready to go when I need 'em! Thanks also for showing us around the property ma'am. You folks have a really nice spread up there. Even the tractor graveyard😁❤❤❤ Love your sometimes dry sense of humor too♥
Well, that was fun..
Thanks!
THANK YOU!!
Thanks for the videos. The through diagnostics are appreciated!
Thank you for your great videos. I really enjoy watching them, even though I only have a Stihl cordless saw. Instead, I have a Stihl KM 94 R-CE combi system and a SH 86 leaf blower.
The end is absolutely super funny. I would never have thought that would be the case...
I love your videos great work I learn so much from your repairs keep up the awesome videos.
It might be oiling just fine, but it's good to check if it's oiling down the bar properly. My 271 wasn't. Every shop visit they said the same thing... it oils just fine. Yeah? prove it. Had to modify the bar with an O-Ring to force more oil down the bar, not leaking out the bottom of saw/bar. Place a proper sized silicone high temp O-ring where the hole for the tensioner is, on both the top and bottom of the bar, (for when flipped). So the ring sits snug in the bar and the hole for the tensioner is still open. Problem solved. More bar oil down the bar, no more overheating the bar and chain, and $$ saved not buying new replacements... not to mention a whole lot safer not having the chain potentially coming off.
Another excellent video! Amazing how much water was in that tank. It was obvious...... must've adjusted the carb off camera- 😉
Thanks!
That saw gives a whole new meaning to the term "flooded"!!!
That lawnmower graveyard in the bush would make a great halloween haunt walk.
That saw must have fallen out of the boat. Great video
Haha, maybe! When he picks it up I'll ask him if he took it fishing!
Great video thanks. He probably took the saw jet skiing thus the water 😂
Maybe he got so mad because it wouldn't start (choke lever) that he threw it into a lake.
I run ethanol free gas since a station isn't too far away. In Florida I couldn't find it but Missouri is good. I tried running stihl premix but I used so much of it. When I used the premix in my little 170 it was a good idea not to choke it cause it would flood.
I love your videos! From Greece
I have an old wooden sewing thread spool I lay carbs on to work on them. That way the throttle / choke shafts, or the fuel inlets don't rock around on the bench top. I also just book marked The Greasy Rag's site to checkout.
Great job
I love your videos, how about a complete rebuild on a Stihl 009 chainsaw..I’ve got 3 that need attention, what a great saw they have been over the years.. haha
You never know what is going to come through the front door next!
hubby needs a serious scrap mower intervention 😮. Just blink twice to show us that you are ok and not a hostage LoL
Nice Save Erica 🤕😳😀👍🏼
Scott over at TheGreasyShopRag is another favorite channel of mine!!! Love you guys♥
That fuel mixture looks like a margarita cocktail 🍹. 😮😮😮😮
Always interesting to watch as usual!👍
Thanks again!
Just get a small shop vice for your table. Cut 2 pieces of scrap plywood to fit the vice and you have your carb holder.
Hello
Hers my story. The saw wont start because of the Choke issue and then the customer decided to clean the saw with a pressure washer.
Come on saw start, and the water got into the carburator and the engine. Thats what maybe happend.
Yep, I reckon a pressure washer was involved. It was fairly clean and it was bound to have been filthy, judging from the history of bar replacements and so on. It has had a very hard life. Cheers from Australia
Your husbands lawnmower grove doesnt seem to be growing well 😂😂😂😂
They may look very similar but most small carbs don't use 'Phillips' screws.
If you see a dot stamped into the head, it's a J.I.S. fastener (Japanese Industrial Standard) and requires the proper driver not to strip.
Awesome video.. maybe he pressure washed the saw .as it looked very clean when you took the chain Cover off
Polished nuts😂😂😂😂
I checked out his carb holder. I bet your hubby could drill and tap a piece of angle iron for you. The electric screwdriver would also be a cool addition to your bench. 😊😊
Great idea!!
That was a heck of a lot of water, im surprised it wasn't destroyed. What was the piece that fell out, looked like a washer. 😊
Holy moly. That’s a lot of water.
You guys really need more under cover storage for the “parts machines”
A favor? Please address proper fuel practices for chain saw use. I am a stickler yet a year ago somehow water collected in my plastic gas container and I didn’t catch it before using this fuel in my 362 cm. The saw wouldn’t start thankfully, saving itself. I can’t be sure if I bought water contaminated fuel or the moisture accumulated on its own while sitting in my garage for 2 months. The service station where I used to buy fuel refused to accept any responsibility. I’ve been using $$$$ Husqvarna pre-mix since then. Please do either a stand alone video or a segment of a video addressing this issue. How long can fuel be stored? What is proper storage, etc. Thanks in advance.
First time viewer you got a sub
lol,wow now that is water, maybe he was trying to get it to run on steam 😂.cheers
Water sits in the bottom of the stations tank when low they can bring up water.💧
Ni e video Erica. I'd like to see you fix the one with pull rope problems. That's kinda my weak area that I'm trying to get better at
Nice video my friend 😊
Thanks for the visit
The coroner of chainsaws solves another case. She never stops until she has all the facts.
Thank you, Ron! You have given me some ideas with this “coroner” thing. 😀
Tank reinige mit Bremsenreiniger in Spraydose, dann schön mit Luft auspusten.
Vergaser halte immer in Hand 🤭😉
I always empty saw or trimmer tank before use - if there has been longer break using it. I mean storage time. It is kind of waste of gas but I have no nerves to clean that water out of carburetor in every new start.
Stihl machines are very sensitive to water in gas. But older B&S lawnmovers just don't care.
Nice video. I'd save that water and fuel mixture in a sealed bottle to show your customers what's possible when u use ethanol and leave your tank outside
Hi Erica,, I hope the owner fixes the other issues. Looks like it’s done a mountain of work..polished nuts…I near choked on my dinner! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🇦🇺🍺🍺
They were extra shiny! 🤣🤣
@@marriedwithsmallengines 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Don't make a stand. Support the Greasy Shop Rag. I just got one and they work great.
Oh the hoard is bigger now (at the beginning of the video). :-) I take a close look at everything on a unit befre I tear into it. Most folks don't want to spend much money. LOL Me as well. The MS271 is a great saw i my mind.
Hi Bruce!! Thanks for watching! 😀
U must have tuned the carby on the high side ,,for the ear muff shot.
😁 I missed the filming of it. The idle needed a bit of turn out. Good catch!
My original thought was this saw spent some time submerged in water......🥺
G’day do you get the idea he doesn’t know what he is doing, I just find treatment of machinery terrible. Should have it Tassie John PS your great no messing around your channel is just different in a nice way.
If you like Scott's carb stand, support his channel and buy one.
I didn’t realize I could buy one until I read this videos comments! Thanks!
@@marriedwithsmallengines You're welcome.
Customer has removed the deadman’s safety switch and isn’t concerned about a non-functioning chain-brake. Plus runs his saw on a premix of 80% water:20% whatever. What does he do in his spare time, Russian Roulette maybe. And how can one saw get through that many bars & chains in four years?
Not all 8mm nut driver go to those holes in that carburator attachment. I tried only Wiha tool works there. It is thin enought.
Danke für deine videos. Immer gerne wieder.
Ich bin auf der suche nach vergaser für Dolmar PS6000i, vielleicht weißt jemand was.
You should put some oil down the intake boot to lube the bearings
"whaddya mean my saw won't run on water?" 8^) Lots of water in pump gas these days (where I am in Ontario anyway) it may be due to all the ethanol they put it it, which will absorb water. Some of the jokers I see at the various stations, I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't checking water in the underground storage tanks and pumping it out either. My family owned a station from the 1940's to the 1980's and tank checks and clean outs were a regular thing we did. May not be done as much now. Cheers!
Yay!
A new video!
Just proves you have to do more than polish your nuts to look after a chainsaw properly😂
Bummin'em Out. ... One 271 at a time. : l
' Hello, Owner? yeah. she made it through routine surgery. & I'm sorry.'
All that scrap waiting to be turned into money.
More water than fuel
water in gas is kind of problem that is difficult to avoid in winter climate like Finland and Canada Ontario.
water condenses in the fuel due to humidity perhaps?
Yeah, the trick is to keep the fuel tank full or close to.
Can you update us on the fuel after you talk to the owner?
Yes, I will provide an update about the water saw 😁
You interested in getting rid of the ford garden tractor? What’s wrong with it? What’s it missing?
The engine and drive shaft are gone, as well as many other bits and pieces. It's just happily resting in peace back there.
@@marriedwithsmallengines I’m looking for the bones. Trying to build a couple pulling tractors if you have any other ford garden tractors
Better to ask for forgiveness, than ask for permission sometimes. 😅😅😅😅😊
Pissed in a fuel can we've all done it !
Subbed.....what was the metal object in the fuel?? I reckon it is a portion of the fuel filter that's come adrift. are they "weighted"?
I fished it out and it was part of the fuel tank vent.
@@marriedwithsmallengines Ha ha..I did say I was a novice 🙂
Hope you gave him the fuel/water mix back??💥💥💦💦.well done as usual!!🍺🍺🥰🥰🤘
he dropped that saw in a creek river or a lake
Coffee.
You are amazing. THANk YOU!
Do ride-on lawnmowers compost easily? 🤔
They take a while, but they do eventually compost lol 😂
Weird that someone would want you to tell them it's not repairable, so they can buy a new one. 😮
How does water get into the tank.
Chain brake handle is definitely broken that saw was definitely used hard as you said
Thanks for watching! More 271’s coming up!
@@marriedwithsmallengines okay thanks for letting me know that you are going to be working on this model of chain saw 🪚
Help my OCD please, Erica, what was the round thing in the fuel?
I’m going to dump it out today and take a look 😝
thankyou from Wingham NSW Australia 🇦🇺❤🇨🇦
More water than gas.
Fresh videos daily! Making up for lost time eh? 😁
You know it!
Did someone put the water in the tank or in the can as some kind of "prank"?
My guess is that his Jerry can was left out in the rain.. but the crystal ball is broken.
I cant believe people dont check their fuel before sending it into a shop for repair.
And I bet the saw will start wright up to
Hair dryer
Just so you know I an a stihl mechanic
That’s wonderful. Congratulations 🎉
Ooookkk
Mower grave!!
Did not see fuel line attached
Me too. And not seeing it removed also from carburator. Video was cut very much.
When I remove the carb, the fuel line slides off at the same time. When you see me push the carb back in place, the inlet is sliding into the fuel line all in one movement. I have nothing to hide from you!
That's great to know when I do it does not go that nicely. Thank you
@@marriedwithsmallengines Don't worry about our pedantic comments...
That filter was bleached from ethanol fuel .That saw looks like it is owned be a landscaper from the pure and plainly blatant abuse signs. You sure have patients for these annoying to assemble saws.
Somebody peed in his tank! :)
No it snapes in the plastic just tell everyone your husband removed the choke rod
Huh ? 🤔
I have a 880 at the shop let's see you start it or a ms500i
I have a bit of trouble starting a 880 or 881.
I can start a 500i though, which I did a few videos ago.
What do they do when they want a new wife? 😂
🤣
