Parting the saw ouot might be a long term positive Other than that, it is a semi decent boat anchor, given the costs of getting it to a reasonable future working life.

Surge was a good name....known for milking equipment back in the early 1960's. (I'm sure, not the same company, but anyway) Possibly even what was used when your shop was still a dairy barn. From about age 9 or 10 I lived on my uncles farm a few weeks over summer break from school. Help for him & change of pace for a city kid like me.

Looks like Logs, splitter , saw will be a good add for the both of you on your channel. I have a 28 ton splitter like yours w/a GSX 180 Honda that is a very dependable starter. Only tip for splitter is to build yourself a wooden table for your split wood, so you can get wood split the size you want it before it falls to ground. Your channel is a good watch

I love how the splitter only just got it’s foot(and wheels) in the door and Erica was straight onto bagging it’s name. (In case it’s only an Australian term, bagging is a term for a friendly insult)

When I saw the splitter, before the name was shown, I thought, that looks near enough like the one I use. Can’t remember the model number, we just call it the Wallenstein. Only ours is blue, has a Honda engine and is a bit more beefy all round.

I think I remember that you a a small kabota. I have a method of splitting that makes it a bit easier. I load the bucket and bring it up to the splitter in the horizontal position.I first 1/2 or 1/3 the large rounds and put them on a pallet on the working side. Then I split to final size into the bucket to transport to where I stack. I have saved a lot of time this way. 😊

G’day Erica good value and nice to see you with a log splitter it wasn’t a bad deal apart from putting a new motor on it but the Ram is good and the seals look good so the hydraulics look good that will save you swinging an axe. Good to see you both look after yourselves regards John Tasmania ( a beautiful place of natural beauty)

A road trip with a trailer - off they went And came back home after money was spent With a chainsaw and also a splitter of wood That uses hydraulic oil as the pushing force which is good Saves on the stress and strain on the body and handle on the axe When non straight grained wood needs lots of swings and whacks A bit of straightening and some tender loving care And soon a Honda GX200 engine is mounted there Looks like the splitter should work out well Once the logs are blocked but of course time will tell A word of caution - watch out for blocks that suddenly can kick No fun to get hit in the leg with a sideways flying twelve inch stick! That Honda will run for a long time on a full tank And the purchase will pay for itself with hours in the bank As far as warming the hands perhaps it is time to invest In some heated gloves and you can let us know which brand works best!

After retiring from practicing medicine for over forty years, I developed my long-standing love of small equipment repair into a hobby/business. After 1 year I was so disappointed in the neglect, stupidity, filthiness and incompetence of most equipment owners that I shut down that business. Sadly, many humans are completely dependent on other humans for their most basic of functions, both mechanical AND biological. That our species has survived and evolved over eons, is a pure testimony to people like Erica who take such pride in their knowledge, performance and credibility.

Too good to part it out. Decisions after that depends where it’s going…. If it’s for sale then you can’t do a half arsed fix with scuffed piston / cylinder - you have your reputation to think of. Cylinder will clean up, it’s not that bad at all, I’d fit a meteor piston - they are best after genuine pistons and come with Caber rings. The carb needs fixing better than glue if it’s going for sale, can you find a brass elbow from another carb to fix up this weak point? Or second hand carb plus a carb kit? Remaining parts are cheap in comparison, OEM for them.

@@marriedwithsmallengines I just thought if you added quick fittings too where the splitter connects to the engine you would have the option to use a tractor etc. Although I guess it would depend a lot on how fast a pump is on your tractor etc.

I think the reason the case broke on that 362 is because people slam the dogs into the wood after a cut and the dogs hold the saw. Slamming the whole weight of the saw onto those 2 bolts would definitely be hard on it

Hello Erica, I appreciate this video. I observed some differences in our 361c. It seems to carb or throttle rod must be different as I had to remove the black top of the grip to access the trigger end as the carb end had a hook where I didn't see a way to remove it. The safety deadman is larger/taller/longer. Maybe the AV mounts are different, I need to look closer. One of ours has what looked like an oval rubber insert and a peg. Maybe those are supposed to actually be an assembly that is worn out? Anyway, I appreciate the video. I also must share that I appreciate the improvements you made in your video camera placement to better see what you are doing. Thank you for the video.
