    Nice to see someone not afraid to get a bit of stain on their hands!

      I know right! haha! I always see the fancy youtubers with plastic gloves on when applying stain. I don't think I've ever done that, but maybe that's why they are famous!

    Nice first effort. One tip from several other videos (we have not tried our hand yet) is to make that cut into the interior along the grain rather than across it. It better hides the glue line.

      You are so correct Gene! Someone else had mentioned that and I can't believe I didn't think of that. Thanks for the tip, and its good to know when I break out the hard wood for a jig saw box!

      Thanks so much Amber Sky! I agree with you. If they did better I would do all project builds. I'm planning on migrating that way if I every make it "big time" Thanks for watching! Going to try and throw in a project about once a week if I can. Depends on my day job! :)

      You will love it! It is so easy, I was surprised and how simple it was! The Band saw was one of the first tools I got believe it or not. Never looked back. Even if you get a small benchtop one you won't regret it!

    A comfort zone is where dreams, goals and growth go to die. This build should help give new woodworkers the confidence to try and challenge the seasoned guys to expand our comfort zones. Well done sir, imperfections and all.

    • @FlynndoggWoodwork
      @FlynndoggWoodwork  Рік тому +1

      Thank you so much Griffin Woodworks! I 100% agree. Growth is determined by getting outside your comfort zone. This bandsaw box that I made has som edefinate issues, especially with how I cut out the drawer, but I learned a lot from it. The importance of really slowing down when making the drawer cut is so critical. Also, wasn't happy with the kerf line on the bottom. A lot of that could have been covered up better if I used wood glue and some saw dust, but since I used CA glue it didn't stain or look perfect! But that wasn't the point of this project. Great comment Griffin, and thanks for watching! :)

      Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it. I've been wondering about that. I have a new microphone and it doesn't seem to be as loud. I'll try a video soon with no background music. Kind of pointless in my opinion anyway, but I know a lot of people on youtube do it! Appreciate the feedback, and thanks for watching!

Build videos are the ones I like watching on youtub myself personally! :) Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!!

      Thanks so much Mike! I appreciate that. It really is simple! Which I would have cut out my drawer a little better than that, but glad i did it on a piece of 4X4 than some fancy exotic! Maybe next time! Thanks for watching! :)

      great question. I beleive it was a piece of 4X4 so it was 3.5X3.5" and probably about 7 inches long. Hope this helps and thanks for watching Ashokmoghe!

    I'd love to make a bandsaw box but my bandsaw will only cut 2½" deep. It's okay because I only paid $25 for it 2 years ago. Old old Craftsman. Can only get 1/4" blades for it and only a couple different teeth numbers. I just don't use it enough to buy a new one.
    Your videos are great and I want your Tshirt collection!

      @FlynndoggWoodwork  Рік тому

      You should really check out the Ryobi bandsaw. That is the one I started with. It worked great for a number of years, and i think it is only like 150 bucks (or at least that’s what it used to be). Only takes 1/4 blades, but I got a lot of things done with that thing and it definitely had a larger height on it than 2 1/2’’ if I remember correctly. :)

    Nice demo! For those of us without band saws, could this be accomplished with a coping saw (and some mental coping)?

    • @FlynndoggWoodwork
      @FlynndoggWoodwork  Рік тому +1

      Great question Ted! I actually think you could make a better band saw box with a coping saw. you would have much better control over it and potentially a smaller kerf! Give it a shot, I bet it would work perfectly!

    • @FlynndoggWoodwork
      @FlynndoggWoodwork  Рік тому +1

      Oh for sure, you could do this to any dimension. Since the wood I was using was no more than 3.5'' in width and height your bandsaw could definitely accommodate it. Thanks so much for watching!
