Very well done, Sir! I have been learning woodworking for about a year now and this approach and end product just makes me giggle about the simplicity!! Thank You for posting this.
Love it! It’s a great project that can be done over time, whenever there’s a spare hour or so, as unusual gifts for my grandchildren. Thanks - you have earnt a new subscriber, just for sharing a great idea!
I love this! I kept waiting for you to make the handle a box, too! Inception for boxes! I’ll definitely do this one. Just bought my first bandsaw so looking for cool projects. Thanks!!
I've just recently bought a bandsaw and im looking for easy projects to start me off, and these look brilliant!! 👍 I loved the doen to earth chat and the rummaging round the garden looking for twigs and a little bit of fun with the cat as well. That was lovely. Im gonna subscribe and see what else youve got going on. 👍
Did start too watch this late last night but knodded off. Not from video but busy week. The bandsaw boxes look great done mate 👍 also that bandsaw is working out to be a great bargain. Take care mate 👍 I too always plug the router in instead of the sander lolol
You have to save up for one, you will definitely not regret it. It is a nice tool to have, and relatively safe compared to table saws, miter saws, etc. if you are not that experienced.
Great video David they look great If you are looking for a good book I can recommend The new bandsaw box book by the drunken woodworker David puddings Great read Thanks for a great video and remember#stay safe and make. 🍺🍺👍👍
Hi - nice video something I am looking for to build using my new bandsaw and also a tree I had to fell since it was dead. One question - should I dry the log to a moisture level below certain value before I attempt this? TIA.
Hi, I usually wait until it is down to 14 percent or lower. Steady drying will avoid loads of splits or twists. I leave in the workshop and wait for the levels to drop over a period of time 👍
They look brilliant mate. What size bandsaw blade do you use for cutting curves. Im still using the stock blade at the mo but cant cut curves very easily with it. Thats one thing i wanna try at some point a bandsaw box. I love these ones with the bark left on
Thanks David, I'm using a 1/4" blade on a bandsaw with a 9" depth of cut. These boxes I made 3 1/2" long but can be made to whatever will fit in your bandsaw. Take care David 👍
They look really good David. At first glance on the intro I was wondering how you made them. Great demonstration on how to. Raiding apple trees as a kid you soon got to know not to bother with the cooking apple trees yuk lol. Tony
Thanks Tony, yeah we used to call it scrumping but these apple trees are ours. Just while I remember were you sending one of your stickers back sometime for the sticker wall? I can't remember if you was or not. Anyway thanks very much for watching, take care 👍🙂
Thanks for watching Michael, yeah I never tried on my smaller bandsaw. This one's got a 9" depth of cut and I was only cutting 3 1/2" so it managed ok. Take care David 👍
My smallest band saw has a cutting height of 3.15", I have made a lot of bandsaw boxes with it. I use 1/4 "and 1/8" blades. However, I just ordered a slightly larger one I could get brand new for under half the list price, I think it's a bit too small, and the other one I have is way too big, but the small one can easily make boxes.
I find it much easier to sand the insides of everything before gluing things back together. Nice project! Kitty footage was a bonus

Is there a reason you don't use CA glue? Thanks for your great videos!

Nice. How dry was the log?
I don't know the exact moisture content but they were green and when cutting out the drawers the timber felt damp. Thanks for watching 👍
👏👏👏
👍
I make and sell bandsaw boxes I will be giving these ago 👍👍👍👌
Never had any luck making bandsaw boxes ,my little bandsaw seems to bog down.

No, I think it's because I kept them in my workshop
