May the Valkyries welcome you and lead you through Odin's great battlefield. May they sing your name with love and fury, so that we might hear it rise from the depths of Valhalla. I know that you've taken your rightful place at the table of kings. For a great man has fallen. A warrior. A chieftain. A father. A friend.
it was this song that made me realize a movie character that I had grown to love had something in common with me, finally. this is why Hiccup is one of, if not my favourite, character aside from Merida (for different reasons) because we both lost our dads granted in vastly different ways, mine passed due to pancreatic cancer and stoick passed from a blast from Toothless, but regardless. This song, this scene, hold a place of importance in me and I GET hiccup's feelings here- anyone who's lost a parent/parental figure gets him in this scene.
Sorry to anyone who has lost parents, or, really, anyone in their lives. One quote I remember (but forget where it came from) fits well here. “Death is something no one truly recovers from. The company of the reaper can only grow more familiar. And soon, we will join him in the abyss. So love your lives to the fullest, before he knocks on your door and whisks you away to the beyond.”
Every time I watch this part in the movie, I cry. You did such a great job with this track. I can hear the grief that Hiccup is feeling at the beginning of it, but the determination at the end is so full of hope. Wonderful job!
I’ve probably commented this on a ton of Stoick’s-Ship-related videos already, but the thing that gets me about this scene and this score, is the fact that Eret, Son Of Eret shot an arrow with the others, respecting a chief that was never his.
He became one of his tribe so it’d be natural for eret to do as such, to honor a chief he barely knew yet pay respects to, as a great leader and father and everything Stoick was.
@@BrownABBY We still know so little about Eret...and I really don't like that we don't know that much about him! I hope we get more facts about him someday!
@@OliveNLuv Well, given that one part of the stated objective of HTTYDLA (How to Train Your Dragon Live-Action) was to "expand on the world", if it does well, chances are fair that they might try to do the same with HTTYD2, which may include more Eret info. Not sure how I'd feel about that, or if I'd even consider it canon (probably not), but it's a potential possibility.
Aw man, I was listening to the entire 30 minute soundtrack and this one made me tear up so bad 😭 I knew it was coming but it hit right in the feels. Good job, seriously 💜

I love this song so much that I hate listening to it because it makes me cry since it’s Stoiks funeral song lmao. It’s so confusing and I love/hate it for it. Jokes aside, great song.

I noticed that in the separate uploads you skipped over your orchestral race to the edge theme, if possible could you upload it on it's own at some point?
When I hear this song, I cry in memory of my fallen family members who have moved on to the realm of the angels. No matter how much I wish they never left me so I could have held them one last time, this song is making my soul feel like they are there in my heart alive and are comforting me to tell me that it's alright. And that they will see me on the other side. God I miss you Auntie Yma Uncle Carl Karen Grandma Brenda and Grandma Leila. This is what I want playing at my funeral and what I will ask is to be burned on a boat flowing down the Detroit River with a shawl covering me and a cross of Jesus Christ resting on my covered chest with professional and elite archers firing flaming arrows at my body like they did with Hiccup's dad.
