    Hi y'all I am the brother of the girl who lost the beach ball thank y'all again for getting it for us, I was also wondering if you have any tips for fishing around there, we have a house across from the sand bar and never catch anything.

      Hi. No problem. I definitely remember you guys. I really didn't do a thing. I was mainly watching to make sure she turned around. It's easy to tire out swimming against the tide and winds. Yes, we catch tons of fish all around the area. Take a look at some of our fishing videos. We fish lots of areas that's close to y'all. Our videos will lead you to some good areas as long as you get out and explore. You guys pass our community of Tansi Village coming and going to yours. Stay safe and we'll see y'all on the water.

    Thanks so much for showing how you get started. I would have never thought to pull up on a sandbar. It makes sense now that I have seen it. Also, thanks for showing how you take the harness and attach to an anchor with a float. I haven't bought a net yet for fishing up here in NC, but now I can see how the whole process works from end-to-end. Now I just need to upgrade from a 70 to 90 hp. motor.

    • @SaltyReflections
      @SaltyReflections  2 роки тому +1

      No problem. Thanks for watching! A 70 should do just as good if you change your prop. Invest in a prop with a lower pitch. It's cheaper than buying another motor.

      @@SaltyReflections With a recreation salt water gear license, max size for a shrimp trawl is 26'. Would I be better off to back down to a 20' trawl? A net company up this way has a 20' turn key shrimp trawl for $600.

    Very interesting, I have been shrimping with a cast net over bait but i had a buddy and they trawled for them like yall are doing....ive begged my buddies to buy us a net and get a license

    • @SaltyReflections

      We've done plenty of shrimping with cast nets too. We got into shrimp trawling a few years back and we fell in love with it. Shrimp trawling takes a long time to learn. We're still learning as we take everyone along with us on our videos. I'm hoping for some big pulls this year. I've been fixing up a 25' Parker powered by a 5.7 MerCruiser and we're going to be pulling a 40' net this year. I'm hoping plenty of you guys will stick with us and see how we do.

    Wow very nice catch! Are you fishing commercial? I remember being a teen catching shrimp in the Broad River with a cast net. Missing Beaufort, but just retired and moved to Galveston Texas. Hoping to shrimp here.

    • @SaltyReflections
      @SaltyReflections  2 роки тому +1

      Yessir, we're technically commercial fishing. I love shrimp trawling compared to all the other methods I've tried shrimping. So, we had to get a commercial license to trawl. It's so fun seeing what you get in each pull. I use to bait shrimp a lot but I think the shrimp we catch trawling tastes better.

    I sure don't understand the net set up? With the 2 boards and the shape of the net and when you pull the net up it's just a small part of the net? At least what ever your doing it's working!

    • @SaltyReflections
      @SaltyReflections  2 роки тому +1

      We're only pulling the tail bag in when we're checking it. It's the part where the shrimp collect at the back of the net. The net is shaped like a big funnel when we're pulling it and it's located at the small end.

    • @SaltyReflections
      @SaltyReflections  2 роки тому

      Yes, we're catching some nice ones. The area we trawl is from 5' to 25'. We have to pull until we find out what's working best.
