LOL, IT'S A TWO - SDAY NEWSDAY, get it? Two videos newsdays.. in one week? Also.. I actually may be swapping to gloves for VRChat and Social VR this year instead of controllers.. maybe... Anyways, Thank you Patreon Supporters for making this coverage of the XR industry possible. I will be uploading more Japan footage and a few topics I couldn't fit into this video on Patreon this next week. www.patreon.com/Thrillseeker discord.gg/thrill
I never get tired of your intro. I don't know if you came up with it on your own, but there is alot of layers to it. Seeing and hearing the espresso being made gets you ready, along with the song. Probably some subliminal/pavlov conditioning going on here. TLDR Love your intro, never change it. Unless it's a remaster.
Yep that’s all me! I’ve been through a few coffee intros- sometime in the future I will update it though.. but it’ll always have the same attention to detail for sounds and atmosphere!
We're talking about Sony, very low chances. On top of that, it's one more argument to sell PS5s by building an ecosystem. When it comes to unofficial support, it definitely seems possible to do, it's just a matter of time and resources.
I don't know, some doubters here.yes we had trinus but Sony have released a full body tracker product and a lot of exclusives are coming to PC. They might just consider it
Everyday we come closer to a comfortable, full body mesh suit. And maybe full-dive in our lifetime Another killer video, I always look forward to see your reviews of the things you've seen at CES!
I was also at CES this year and I agree, the Ant Tech demo was by far the most impressive. I did the Magic Leap 2 demo shortly after and the FoV edges were very obvious. Really excited to see where that goes. Something else I really enjoyed was the Ultra Leap touchless haptics. The use case for consumer VR isn’t really there but for automotive and enterprise uses there’s a TON of potential!
I really can’t thank you enough for all the work you do to keep the VR industry alive. I absolutely love VR so much as it helps me escape my toxic home life.
your videos somehow manage to get me exited to get into VR every time lol great video! do you think companies like meta or valve will ever implement vr gloves as the main controller type or would it remain a third party option? i love the idea personally, but i don't think everyone would be in to it
I think combining the vr gloves with the flip controller might be the best way to do stuff. You get easy access to controller inputs while still having complete freedom and mobility with your vr gloves.
Can't support aside from like and subscribe and continually subjecting my peers to your videos. But I was so excited about this one, and it was absolutely worth the wait. Thank you for the timely, honest impressions. Your enthusiasm is addictive.
I realized on the drive to work today how much I look forward to your videos! Especially the Tuesday Newsday ones! I LOVE your chill coffee intro. It's soothing and relaxing and just so pleasant. I love your high energy Tuesday Newsday exclamation each week, it pumps me up and makes me giggle with excitement all at the same time. Don't even get me starting on the Wonderful Meme Break concept. You are a Rockstar. I love your content, love your honesty in reviews and your overall energy!
The Lynx still holds up well with not only proper colour stereo camera passthrough (unlike the quest pro and pico) but also full openXR runtime, privacy and access to the bootloader - basically a headset you aren’t constrained on unlike the big players
Those AR glasses are so sick, imagine being on the subway and wanting to play some beat saber, all you have to do is grab the controllers out of your bag
The first thing I think of before watching this video is how your hands get sweaty. If vr takes the glove path, hopefully they find a way to have a type of open glove that only covers your key parts of your hand so it can breathe
I would love it the "ready player one" setup was something you did every year or two. Just a collection of everything to make the most Immersive VR experience
The Bhpatics vest already works natively with the OSC in vrchat. No mods required. You just need to put the vest (the correct one) on your models front and back! :D
So excited for the Contact CI Maestro, that's fascinating! I've been dreaming of force feedback since VR started being a thing, I'm so glad someone is making it! Hopefully it drops into a more affordable range and for consumers soon
6:52 liquid crystal light valves have been around for a long time in welding hoods, and they’ve been optimized for super low power draw and near-instant response times. Great to see this tech somewhere other than a massive, bulky hood
not sure if you'll see this, but what do you use for your general VR playing sessions? Like, do you use top of the line gear, haptic gloves, catwalk? or is it more of a general consumer type experience?
Man gotta respect all the people who are brining these VR devices to us consumers its crazy how close yet so far away we are for a ready player one / Sword art online type of VR experience
Sick. I love new vr tech. I have an index and a 4090 and it's a whole knew experience. I can't imagine having even more cool tech to enhance that experience.
Well I got the 4090 part but Index isn't an option and I've been waiting for over a year for the right headset to come along! Maybe this year fingers crossed.
To see all of this in our present time, I'm extremely excited to see what is to come for the future of both AR and VR tech. Who knows, maybe we'll see some next level stuff that we can only dream about now in the next 5-10 years!
Loving all the CES videos. It's been a while since I've been to convention like this. If I can't see things firsthand I appreciate you sharing it all with us. So much tech cool tech.
I really want to see a MeganeX review, cannot wait for it. Waiting on my Etee XR controllers, hopefully there's a review of those too as thrill posted his pair on Twitter.
VR is currently going through a transformative process where we know what we want and how to make it work but we're still deciding on what should be standard. Similar to old media standards like vhs vs laserdisc the outcome will likely rely on what's popular and easy to manufacture. I expect to see two constants during this. VR as a peripheral device and VR as a standalone (PC vs Console)
The diverx gloves look like they could be a really good transition point between controllers and full hand tracking. Future iterations of this would probably have a quicker learning curve or more broadly supported skeletal tracking which is really what we should be moving towards imo
Yo thrill thanks for talking about the PSVR2 and giving good specs on it, i pre-ordered mine a few days ago and im pretty excited, L ces for not letting you get a demo
Look how close they had to hold the transmitters to the gloves as you used them. The entire time you used them they had to pass the transmitter between the 2 of them so it was constantly in the right position. They are a cool piece of tech but very clearly a long way off from being feasible. Love your content!
I truly hope i can try out full dive vr before i die, thats my only dream and hope for life. Only reason i didnt off myself is because of my love for technology and augmented/virtual reality.
For an amusing vr thought experiment, imagine face tracking based locomotion controls. Let horizontal locomotion be controlled through displacement of the lower lip and jumps controlled by tensing the upper lip. Now imagine the resulting facial gymnastics as a player goes though a typical high speed platform jumping puzzle. On a less crazy note, I cant wait to see bmi controlled locomotion combined with these electrostim garments. When we get to the point that you can feel reactions and haptics through your full upper body and control your avatar’s movement through imagining your leg’s moving… well, i hesitate to use the phrase “half-dive”, but it sounds to me like the next step of max immersion gaming on the way to full dive.
I'm looking forward to decent AR/XR/MR for everyday use. I love having YT running in the background when doing chores at home. Currently I either chose content that has visuals only as a "helper" or let it run on my phone where I can glance over easily. With AR I hope to someday in the future just put on some glasses and have a YT frame in my field of view and have some entertainmwnt while vacuuming or doing the dishes.
Why is the floor so shitty here hun? Oh, you know, the gameplay got really good and I got distracted. Lol, I can't wait for that same future myself, for sure
Just crazy to see all this development in 10 years, from when oculus first released their headset to know. In just ten years we have gotten this far, and the progress only speeds up with more companies interested in it. I can only imagine what 2030 will look like.

For anybody wondering (because I was until i researched) the product at 0:45 is called the Mudra Inspire and it's a wearable tech band that can attach to your apple watch or be standalone to track hand gestures and even rotational data. It looks to have an open and actively updated API for developers and honestly paired with inside out hand tracking could give incredible accuracy with little to no loss of tracking.
I like to fly in VR. That's really my main reason I got interested in VR, back in 2014. VR gloves have been the number 1 thing on my wishlist for most of that time. I want something where I gran press any button on the cockpit, turn any dial, use the throttle and stick, and never have to pick up a controller. Right now, I can map a lot of control functions to different buttons and keyboard commands, but that breaks the immersion. I would likely pay a few hundred for gloves that could replace my controllers. Hopefully we see those for the Quest, and DCS soon.
Hope the PSVR's success encourages the production of more OLED headsets. Need a high res Oled headset, have my 5KXR which I do love, my original Quest and PSVR. But there are some things I enjoy where FOV isn't as important and I have the gear capable of driving a decent display. I don't have to rely on re-projection or DLSS with my 5KXR but with the fov it's still effectively about the same resolution as my Q1.

Hi

@@_pluto42_ Thanks fam! :D

hahahaha I get it
Soo cool to that we're starting to see force feedback be a thing. Can't wait to get my hands on some.
FOR REAL! I love force feedback so much but it still has a ways to go.
Considering its come up so quickly, I would imagine you won't have to wait more than a few more years before it really hits the consumer market.
what we really need to make it work is software support. New games need to support it, and old games should be patched to support it.
Full body tracking, haptics and force feedback with 360 treadmill would be the pinnacle
You mean... Hands IN some?

Oh my life… how do they manage to fit so much stuff into the maestro??? I could only imagine the price…
It’s RIDICULOUS. The Contact CI people were nice enough to let me borrow a set.
The price is $5000, from an article on the official website
Those AR glasses look unreal - I actually had to do a double take, especially when you mentioned the 120 degree FOV.
We're all feeling special this week with a tripple dose of Thrill! Thanks for the vid😁
