Had my speedo halfway to the CEL, gps said I was doing 118 and let me tell you it was probably one of the scarier things I’ve done in a vehicle. 243000 miles on it and it still ran like Hell. Shame that XJ caught fire, but I went and bought another one just like it. I love these jeeps
Me too, man. I've had two so far. First one i told because i couldn't afford it lol. Got the second one and man ill tell ya i beat the shit out of it and it just keeps going. Other video's on my channel of the purple one i have, also the one in this video.
Brandon Monse i believe it, these things are kinda scary at speeds lol. I did a little track test in a 2000 xj limited. Handled it okay but it was freaky lol
I have a 98 5 speed with 2wd (I know blegh) but compared to any 4x4 xj I've ever been in it handles beautiful on the highway even with all terrains on. Cherokees will accelerate but usually aren't safe in their own right. Thankfully it keeps gaining speed in 5th gear easy. The automatics seem to waste more gas when accelerating.
I’ve got 373k on my xj and it’s all stock still except a 231 transfer case swap. Runs and shifts just like it was at 140k when i got it. basic maintenance and replacing hoses and sensors
I'm looking into getting a car like this and (hopefully) fixing up my 97 Grand Cherokee Laredo, nothing's ACTUALLY wrong my 97, just whenever we bought it, there's dust, coolant and oil stuck to e v e r y t h i n g in the engine and I've been having to replace multiple new parts because of it. Ain't givin it up tho baby still runs 🤣
@@reesetourtillott that's if rusts out before that. It's a real shame they are so indestructible engines but shrivel up at the touch of a grain of salt.
These Jeeps are rockets, that one of the many reasons we love them.
I love the raspy sound of those engines. So much torque too!
Sound even better bouncing off the limiter.

These are really quick for a 4x4
Was waitinf dor the FLASHING Enigine LIGHTS!! lmao that happen to mine when i gunnned fown the eway once
I’ve had my 98 xj wrapped all the way to the check engine light.
Sound's fun, and kinds scary lol.
Rez Outlaw715 it felt like I was going like 200, Haha

Agreed man.
Mine gets up to around 75 and starts wobbling. Good thing that on my way to school I don’t go above 65
Mine now wobbles at 55 and smoothens out around 60. Lo,l I need to do an update on the Jeep.
Mine used to wobble all the time but thats a whole different story
Same here. I just did a 3 inch lift, shocks, new stabilizer and coil springs, so it's a little more solid.
U were really pushing the thing to its limits
Yes sir. Lol
How’s your trans holding up? I’m sure you’re at 250k miles now.
I no longer own the vehicle. I actually sold it quite awhile ago but I beat the thing pretty hard in the woods, transmission never skipped a beat.

Idk if you'll reply, but what headers did you have on this car?
This jeep?
@@reesetourtillott yeah
I believe it was a factory manifold with a crack at the (Y)
Not longer after, I had replaced it with a header.
Brought my ol cherokee up waaaay past the speedometer goes. Rpms keep going for some reason. Grand cherokee goes about 120
how much power does it have?
They don't have much lol. Im sure mine had much less then stock as well.
Are there any engine modifications on this?

Only engine mods I've done were plug wires, and distributor cap. Header also but that was it.
ما شاء الله
I6 or v6?
I6
I'm at 147k miles. I'd love to see it hit 238.
Don't worry, at 147k that motor is a baby yet. You'll get there

You're 100% right.
mines currently sitting at 195k
I'm at 253k and have no problems.
180k on my 96 sill kick like a chicken.
Keith Lea these Engines are tough man.
Your car is overheated
