Brave soul to go that fast in a Jeep haha.

Autobahn
Tony The Truck Guy and on this tires.
Imagine going at 200 kms/hour, hit, bump and...
DEATH WOOBLE!!!!!!!
XJ and just 110? how you dear?
Death wobble at 200 would be a handful.
Not really. Two wobbles and the front end would get ripped out i think. No wheels, no problem, right?
Death wobble only happens at slower speeds. 100kph or less.
@@shanejackson6856 not always. I have a 1997 Grand Cherokee and it would get death wobble hitting bumps on the freeway at around 75mph(about 135kph I think). Floor it, take it to 80+mph and it'd settle down. I replaced the steering damper, and that fixed it. Keep in mind, mine is sitting at like 226000 miles(I'm guessing over 300,000 kms?) so it's expected at this age.
for an "old" suv thats quick af!!
Erand Hasani V8 BIAATCH
Bro u think it needs a manual gearbox swap
Erand Hasani yep
Erand Hasani it needs 7 or 6 gears manual swap.
Is it Auto?
LATVIAN PLAYZ yep its auto i think its a 5 speed auto , maybe a 6 speed manual would me a dream
Listen to that 5.9 scream. That was pretty cool.
It don’t scream, it roars.
Fanrabbit And yeah that cold start rev fucced it up a bit, vid don’t do justice.
Probably consumed 2-3 liters there
fuel consumption? 100l on 100km?
10mpg is approximately 27L/100km
11l/100km on Long distance
24l/100km on short distance
24+ till open end if you have some real fun :D
11 L/100 km.. I can't get 13L/100 in a 4.7L Jeep WJ. Cut the crap
25-28 l/100km in Moscow traffic. 14 l/100km in highway 140km/h. 10 l/km 90 km/h
I don't know why all the people with a Jeep lie about their fuel consumption. I guess it's a Jeep thing.
0:27 Damn, those revs synced with the chime.
I had the luck of driving one of these a few times way back between 2000-2001. It is a beast!
Same. My buddy had one. Loved hitting the slab late at night after he passed out drunk. Such a fun truck. RIP ANDREW🕊 He would have killed me if he knew I was picking chicks up at 3 am in his 5.9 jeep, lol.
4.5k rpm gear changes.....you know there is a lot of torque when a 'gas' V8 change at same RPM as diesel
Tq = HP at any giving rpm sooo you just as easily Said hp rather then TQ
@@stevehash158 Torque is NOT the same as HP
@@treasuremen It's not, no. But 200lb.ft @ 4500 for example, will always result in the same horsepower figure at that same engine speed, regardless of diesel or gasoline. Power and torque are directly linked; Power is just torque multiplied by engine speed. Eg. 200lbs.ft x 4500rpm / 5252 = 171bhp.
Correction most common truck diesel's. My Catapiller motor is 1,500rpm.
@The Heretic learn some physics and come back. If 2 cars have the same torque at the same rpm they'll have the same power at that rpm
Use to own of these. For a late 90's SUV, it was a monster. It drank gas like crazy. In North America the engine was rated at 260HP. Now, a 5.7 HEMI is almost 400HP. Was a very fun vehicle and would surprise quite a few cars taking off from a stop light.
I believe the 5.9 Jeeps were the beginning of what would become the SRT Grand Cherokee and now the Trackhawk. I love how the one is this video sounds. It’s awesome how an SUV like mine can go to the mountains for snowboarding, or to the track to blow the doors off a Mustang, 350Z, Corvette etc...
SRT- Mustang Killer Yep, just like the Trackhawk and SRT l, the 5.9 was the fastest production SUV sold when it was new. I believe the same applied to the WJ's with the 4.7L High Output engine (came standard on the Overland edition and optional on the Limited). Not many people are aware of those but they run about even with the 5.9L ZJ.
RustyJeep you’re absolutely right. It’s nice to see how the Grand Cherokee has continued to evolve over the years. It’s always been a nice vehicle! I️ recently ordered the Trackhawk, I️ can’t wait for it to get here!
SRT- Mustang Killer Right on man, that is a sweet ride. You should post some videos when you have it!
An SRT8 Jeep isn't blowing any doors of a 350Z, especially on a track. It can only hang with the Z through the 1/4. The Z has more top end, especially the 07-08 350Z with the HR motor that traps 105-107 mph stock. After the 1/4, the Nissan is walking away.
5.9 = Grandfather
SRT8 = Dad
Trackhawk = Son
200km at 3500 rpm....aplause

V8 power.
My 2000 Jeep Wrangler TJ with the 2.5L 4 cylinder is at 3000 rpm going 70 mph or 113 kmh. That's in 5th gear. I don't even want to think about the automatic which only has 3 gears!
This SUV seems awfully quick for 241 hp!
Empire State the 5.9 magnum v8 offered a lot of torque, making the grand Cherokee quick
Thats also like a European version or something based on the license plate.
@@venomous_spiderx7939 Yes, sure. In Europe it's the "Limited LX".
345 ft lbs tq!
241 draft horses. Not 241 quarter horses!
Love it, how he revs the snot out of it while the oil pressure is still building up.
Nah, the second the motor starts, there’s oil pressure. These old Chrysler gauges were just weird.
@@jackwatters9502 my Jeep had an issue with the sending unit which is fairly common
That actually impressed me. And I already noticed a comment on here saying you're brave to go so fast in a Jeep and I must agree. That's gotta be crazy unstable
On All Terrain tires too!
@@ErokCherokee 100% .!!!
With a 4 link coil suspension, its actually a really impressively smooth ride at this speed.
man you sacrificed a whole week worth of gas for a video. nice
Great video and history lesson. I’m a huge mopar fan and I currently own a R/T Durango!
This guys 100 percent living that full send life and to that sir I salute you 🙏
Engine sound is incredible!
Great sounding zj!
What a good sound!
Awesome bro
I had a 4.7 in 13 seconds gave me 160 kilometers without problem,good video,
Them 4.7s are pretty mean.
One of the best engine sound since man invented the wheel....
I love my dodges but low compression 360’s sound like a dogs ass
Check engine light is on
Jayant Jain I bet it's still where he left it
Probably P0440 or 0441
Jayant Jain LPG
Jayant Jain exactly, with the light on you're running on what's called open loop, which is a rich mixture by default. The acceleration is going to be sub par to a properly running ZJ
mine always had one on because of a sensor or some bs
the engine and tranny worked great still.
these sensors are cheap now like 20 bucks compared to 250 when new
Jeeps are awesome
Everytime I watch an acceleration video, voila, check engine XD
Let's start the engine and Rev the shit out of it before the oil had time to circulate!!
Tsal Tsirf That engine has power to displacement ratio of a toaster, it would run just fine with frozen frying oil...
The engine was already hot, you can watch the water temp gauge at the beginning
You guys know nothing about engines. Yes the engine may be hot already but after turning the car off, all the oil will drop down into the oil pan. When you start the car (yes, even when it's warm already) you have to wait a couple of seconds to let the oil get to the cylinders.
Jonathan you obviously know nothing about engines. Oil doesn't just dissapear from the cylinder walls in a few minutes after not being ran. Nor does the cams, shaft ect everything is coated with oil and would still be even after sitting for a day or so.
That's not how it works. Even after 5 minutes of sitting there will most likely not be enough oil to lubricate the engine. just "coated" is not enough.
Probably the nicest sounding jeep I’ve ever heard.
Still a legend
Brave man to go that fast in a Jeep. The slightly finger twitch and it would take weeks to find you.
Is driving at 125MPH - 140MPH in a Jeep Grand Cherokee dangerous and unstable?
I had a 3G Ram with the 5.9 and that thing MOVED. 5.9s don’t make a ton of HP but they are torque monsters.
I used to own a limited 318 v8 and it would boogey for a naturally aspirated. Sounded so good with the exhaust open.
Good thing you got all this viewers telling you your check engine light is on other wise you were never gonna know it was on 😂😅🤦♂️
A real car...
I like the sound
Runs so good
I love how each rev torques the entire chassis
Literally any tall vehicle with a soft or old knackered suspension will do that.
It’s a uni body as well. Made to flex for a more comfortable ride
@@o1mtbiker Most modern cars are unibody.
Gravemind you don’t say? Lol. I know that. But most don’t know the Cherokee is uni body. They assume it’s more like the wrangler.
Buddy of mine has a ram truck with the 5.9 it does the same.
I remember when this video was new , wow the views really took right off , great video .. Drive safe out there. I can honestly say this Jeep would out run my 2011 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor .. I have a video of it accelerating on here
Does the Jeep Grand Cherokee outperform the Ford Victoria at 138MPH?

Jesus this is quick for such a big car.. My 1.5 vtec-e will struggle against this one, but its stock at 115 hp and much lighter weight, and it wont reach 200, 195 at max in 4th
This thing is such a sleeper haha
HellaFlush070 the old 5.9’s have nothing on the 6.4’s.... even before adding a supercharger to mine I was 0-60 in 4.1 seconds... now 3.1.
Thats dope dude, me around Amsterdam you never see these big cars, ESPECIALLY not fast ones.. I'd love to be pulled by one just for the pure fun of it
I drove one in highschool when Fast and the Furious first came out... Which was fun because everyone thought they had a race car, Sleeper is the word lol Your vtec would be smoked by me and my 5.9, many modded Hondas, VWs, Mazdas, found out the hard way lol There was a certain way to work the throttle and gearing in the 5.9 and you could get it under 6 sec 0-60 easy... we timed it many times. This video seems like it was done on a dyno though, it really lags from 170 to 190 while pushing wind and I never got it above 190 even on a downhill trying multiple times. God I miss my 5 9
I did the same in high school going on 6yrs now i still have it. But now that a have a kid i ended up getting the patriot. I feel like a soccer mom in that thing
0-60 in my truck is roughly the same.
Ahhh, Jeep Grand Cherokees are like Lamborghinis to me
Like the nice touch on the check engine light
the engine spins up very easily from idle, it's cool and the sound is cool

The Sir thats not power
The Sir sure kid
There's rumors that the ZJ's chassis can't even handle the amount of torque and horsepower from that V8 lol 😬 Which was why the Jeep shook so much when you revved
Kevin spacey I've got a friend who 4wheels a ZJ (and he wheels that thing hard), and within 3 years, the unibody chassis already got so weak to the point where the doors wouldn't shut properly. The chassis on XJ's and ZJ's are weak, but newer modern Jeeps like the WK and WJ have a much robust durable unibody design (because they now have to conform to government mandated standards). Not saying that the ZJ and XJ's suck though. I just wished that they were either body on frame or used a stronger unibody chassis
Kevin spacey So no. It's not a BS rumor. It's actually true, and I've been around enough friends with ZJ's and XJ's in my Colorado Jeep Club to know about the disadvantage of their weak chassis
TheValleyofAwesome I installed welded on frame stiffeners on my XJ and the unibody still flexes somewhat. Wish they would have built a stronger unibody or better yet used a full frame, but it's a very common trait of most older unibody vehicles. Haven't observed any unibody flex in my WJ.
I believe that 100% i own a zj. The body isnt built for it
Mine is 20 years old, I've had not of these issues, you obviously just don't maintain your cars properly.
Nice!
I have a jeep cherokee and the sound is the same excellent video
Eh 120mph over here isn't that great but I'd take it lol.
My dad had a 5.9l jeep. Never actually tried getting it to go over 80mph because it had a 4inch lift. It was very hard to keep on the road at high speeds
Over where?
haven't gotten over 80 on mine because it's lifted 4 in front, 6 in rear and we get some vibration sounds up that high. gotta figure out what's causing it but damn is it fun to play around with.
İmpressive till 160kmh
TheFunkyair yea then most v6 suv these days will be quicker after 100
occckid123 No, this thing from 80 to 130 was ridiculously strong. Raced many V6 cars and suvs from 60 and 80 to 160 and the only thing I lost to was a Lincoln Mark 8. Even beat a few Trans Ams from 60 through 150. This video isnt the best example cause its just floored which was absolutely not the fastest way to drive this 5.9
The brick-shaped body is not perfectly aerodynamic...
Where can you go faster anyway?
Honestly amazed it can even go that fast
Nice check engine
Lol
*how fast is that in freedom speeds?*
Czek I think it’s 120-140 but not sure
It literally shows on the speedometer
The top speed for the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited is 130 mph.
Nathan Brown ikr 😂
Did you even watch it?
@1:57 why do the RPMs drop a bit?
Its computer managed, probably thought he was using less throttle than what he was

Exactly
Yeah I'd say it's the torque converter deciding to lock up as well
On tires like that that's really good.
Zj for the win.

How do they manage to get so little horsepower from a 5.9l V8? 😂
It's an older engine design, and you don't need power. You need torque, and this has PLENTY. And it's not too underpowered!
US emissions regulations
gibrate1 definitely not a us jeep here.
It's not a sports car, it was designed to go off-road where torque at low revs matters most.
In the newer ones... especially the SRT’s, we have plenty of power, but it’s never enough.
This thing is fast. Hands down
Law rpm and high speed.....
