TLDR: if you want people to stop staring at your bust, use dark eyeliner
Really glad I came across this channel... Good art and tips man! Can't wait to see more 😉 Need as much pixel art help as possible for a new starting up game project.
how it went?
@@wolfz2725 Check out his youtube channel!
This is a crazy comment to come across the gamedev UA-cam community is very tightly knit.
thanks for making more of these videos lately. i keep missing the stream by like 20 minutes because of my scheduled so its nice to see these videos in my feed man! on top of just enjoying your content i really enjoy that you really do have a comprehensible teaching style that benefits my work a lot of times. youre the man Adam. lets see 40 pushups this week! lol
Wonderful presentation of how design principles apply to pixel art. I feel like I'm learning a lot about art in these videos. Thank you.
Lmao, your subtle humor is impeccable. “Maybe your eyes are drawn here, but I don’t want that. At least not in this game. Eyes up here guys”
9:08 The Law of Closure = Very cool. I've seen this in use before but never really had it defined previously. Very interesting.
Adam, you are a genius in what you do! WOW! You really know, what you're doing here, thank you so much for the help!
Did you study art or something? You're so knowledgeable 🙌
10:09 those buildings are beautiful. holy shit
REALLY good explaination on the edges and shading! Something clicked for me with the square vs. circular rock. Thanks man and keep it up!
This is incredible! So much information on a 14 minute video. Please keep on doing god's work!
Literally just self researched the gestalt principles by my self whilst working on a Uni project and I come to watch this video and voila. Great video as well - really informative!
I want to become a game developer its gonna take a while but your art really inspires me to do it
Absolutely amazing. I didn't realise I was using the law of closure but now I can do it pruposefully.
Really nice sprites Adam!
Thank you so much for sharing this lesson!
Bro , this videos are helping me a lot , thanks :)
The usa of Law of Closure here is fucking wizardry! I'm subbing right now.
god the intro is always so satisfying
You are so talented! 🤩
Dude, i just had to comment on this video.
I have watched Pixel Pete and Mort mort for a longer time now and after this video i came to a conclusion.
Pete and mort have probably learned pixel art by themselfs.
You tho learned it thrue university, whole different approach and a psychologic aspect to it.
I subscribed! Cheers! And liked ofcourse...now Lets hope that UA-cam will tell you all about it soon.
How do you make such good use of colour? The colours for the buildings really look like the kind of colours you get in TV animations.
Brazil guy here. I'm learning a lot. Thanks
This app was my best investment! 🙌
Sick tutorials!

Thanks!
Thank you
that sprite is so good
Thank you for these excellent content!!! Hope you get more subscribers soon!
I made my character! Thank you! :3
How is his palette sorted like that for shading ease? None of the options to sort give me that same layout type ;(
Very helpful
Great content, did you stream today
Not today, as it's Sunday for me :) I stream Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (with some surprise streams)
On backup brush for bricks are made and for everything else, just curious as in or you make all those bricks again
Would it be a good idea to make a full 8 point turnaround for a pixel art sprite to use in platformer? Would it let you make animation work faster because you have a complete idea of what your character looks like or would it be too much effort? I am currently doing a turnaround for a pixel character because I like to practice but I don't know if it would be useful if I made a game about the character.
In my opinion I think it would be useful because well if you don’t end up using it you have that practice, but if you do use it, it’s possible to reference back to it for cutscenes where you may see the characters back or full frontal view if that makes sense. I don’t think you can ever put too much effort in your practicing!
one more thing. i always think about this when you're streaming but that music that you always have is from Extreme road trip 2 the mobile game. good waiting room game. that's all lol.
Which palette are you using here?
I use my own palettes. This one is called Insignia, after my game :)
Ok I clicked the like button, now you have to make more video's. We have a deal ;)
anyone can help me? how much size the Aseprite Canvas for mobile screen? i make size canvas 320px 180px but when i add on unity its too small, until I couldn't see my character.
where do i get his color palette?
the parts i have a hard time with are connecting the body parts to the torso
A trick that a lot of animators use is having something separating parts that are animated separately. You’ll notice a lot of characters have a distinct shirt collar or necklace or a bow tie to separate the head and like on the character that he’s drawing backpack straps separate the arms from the body.
Trying to follow your tutorials and tips is really useful, but there are some things- like your choices in shading colors and how to soften things, that I wish you'd explain a little or spend some more time on.
Eyes up here guys
My transformers-obsessed brain thinks of combiners every time I hear the word "gestalt".
please animate this one, I have no idea how you would do.
You don't need to draw the line all the way across, but how do you know how much to draw? How long should the line be before you stop?
pai do gemaplys?
sorry but this is too smart for me, I lost my motivation to learn pixel art
