I don’t think some people realize how insane it is how close he sounds to the original close to FIFTY years ago. That is INSANE. Like seriously. Out of this world
a most happy birthday wish to you Justin! i hope you have many more to celebrate. keep on rocking, there are literally millions of us fans who love and appreciate your talent which is an inspiration to us all!
Thought I’d lookup this song as it was always one of my favourites from my youth years. I nearly choked on my cup of tea when I heard Justin say that he first recorded it at Strawberry Recording Studios in Stockport. I live and was brought up in Stockport, less than a couple of miles away from the studios!
Stunning. One of my all time fav songs. Heard it by surprise on British TV while following a company training course in Ireland some 30 years ago. Never even knew the song existed until then, and was unable to find a record of it. So happy to (also by surprise) have found it here. Greetings to all Moody Justin fans from Sweden!
My teen years were challenging, and the best respite was to lie on the floor of my bedroom and listen to Days of Future Past, then other MB albums. 50 years later, I still get such calmness from listening to the Moody Blues and Blue Jays albums. I can't begin to tell you what an important role you played in my earlier life and still do. A few years back, I was undergoing surgery and my brother arranged for Days of Future Past to play on headphones while it was happening. I'll always treasure my memories of seeing you live at the Albert Hall, once in Vancouver, BC, Canada, and three times in Victoria, BC, Canada. Thank you for your gift to me and to countless others.
I never considered the classic Moody Blues as a 'guitar band'. But these Tuesday Afternoon vids are affording me a better appreciation of Justin's guitar work.
Among the many things I admire about Justin is his posture! And in this performance the guitar playing and singing is so close to the original studio version. Love it.
You take me (and maybe everyone else) on a trip. A trip through time, scratching memories out of my head, re-living moments of days gone by. Man, it's been a while. A long, good, sweet while.
The sound of your guitar on this song (along with Lovely To See You) completely captures a moment in time that transports me back to a very happy period of my life. Thank you, Justin!
Justin with the members of 10cc must have been quite a memorable moment in the recording studio. Thanks again for posting this, and wishing you a very Happy Birthday tomorrow Justin!
@@davidkershner7513 ... It was 47yrs ago, and as Justin has said, back then, the 60's, they knew each other and socialised, etc. The 70's would've been something similarly same. After recording I'm No In Love, Lol Creme, I think, played the record to Paul McCartney and he said it was shit. One World wide hit later...
Wow, are you telling me that for 45 years I've believed that you and John made this song, and now you're saying that John wasn't even a part of the original song? Man, you just blew my mind! It still one of my very favorite songs though.
Another beautiful song to listen to on Tuesday Afternoon. Thanks Justin for bringing us closer your wonderful music. If you haven't already, you put out an album of some of your best ballads. I will also say Happy Birthday tomorrow, and again Thanks for bringing us along on your magical journey each Tuesday Afternoon.
I am always in awe of people’s talents in music. It is a gift that you received and a gift that you share to us, your ever devoted fans. You have inspired me to pick up my guitars and start to seriously learn how to play. Being an older man, it takes some time but in the past two years I really feel I am on the right path. Thank you for the music all these years. I have been privileged to have seen you in concert at least 10 times and look forward to many more once this pandemic is in our rear view mirrors. Stay safe and keep on spreading the music. Thank you thank you thank you! Happy Birthday Justin.
Happy birthday for tomorrow and thanks for these Tuesday afternoons I lived in Swindon my children attended your old school Commonweal and I spent my years from 30 til now listening to your beautiful pyschedelic style rock - am now 71 and enjoying your music with memories of a lost and happy past- long may you make music
This song is one of the reasons I asked my parents for guitar lessons. As soon as this came out I rushed to the shop to buy the 45 which I still have in 2022!! The production and the pure ethereal sound of it are incredible. To this day the opening bars are spine tingling. The Moodys were brilliant and Justin is a true maestro!!Its only taken all these years to find out HOW he got that incredible sound from the 335 - now I need to buy a compressor :)) LOVING that studio Justin!! Still nailing this as good as the day you recorded it!👏👏👏👏👏 Its well overdue I believe for your knighthood for services to music!! Makes note to self BUY a Gibson 335! I always wondered what guitar was used for this outstanding song.
What a voice! And still handsome as ever! Saw you at Sun City, South Africa in 1995, fourth row from the front. Unforgettable! Thank you for still singing!
Blue 🎸 Guitar or You Are? Great title for a beautiful tune indeed, Justin! Thanks for inviting us your fans every Tuesday afternoon for your musical treats!
When God was giving out talent, he was a insanely generous with the gifts bestowed upon Justin - his voice, songwriting skills, guitar playing - and to still be doing it so superbly. Just WOW!
Thank you again Justin for your Tuesday afternoon gifts. The best line for the the times in the States is this: "New. . .HOPE". Please choose your November 3 song wisely. It will mean a lot to the world.
This has been one of my favorites since I snagged this to record off a radio station somewhere in 1975 or 6 and played it to some musician friends. They couldn't believe how beautiful it was and no one knew about it! As soon as I first heard it, I knew it was great, same with "Gypsy" another divine trip. Thanks Justin, your music is a life saver!
I do look forward, when I come to your concerts, of your playing Blue Guitar, because I miss watching you play the guitar the way you use to play like in Ride My See Saw. Your playing your red guitar is an art in motion. This song also reminds me of Country music. LoLs. I so look forward to these Tuesday afternoons. And I want to wish you a very Happy Birthday which is tomorrow. Men should be so lucky to look as handsome as you do now as well as in your early years. And your voice....it is still magickal!
Thank youbso much Sir Justin. I never thought its rposuble repeat this masterpiece. I was born in 1974 in Poland so in early 80s my father showed me when I was 6yo special riff call ,,Ride my See Saw" I never knew who's play in Moody Blues maybe shame but behind ,,iron curtain" West stars was unique. And in 90s when cds appeared I bought ,,Blue Guitar" I have no words. This version live bring my memories till them. My father pasted away but I know now what's Moody Blues means. Thanks again Sir Justin for a great music. Ps My fav song is Wild Sideoc Life and Ride My See Saw but Nostradamus and Blue Guitar are specail feeling behind Moody Blues thank you again and all the best Mastar Jh♥️
When I heard Days Of Future Passed I knew I was in love. Being born in 1950 this was a universe undreamed of. Being a big The Allman Brothers Band fan, I carried it over to a friend’s apt who was also a major TABB fan. He called it “candy rock.” But me, I have everything TABB and everything MB and all the slo albums. I call them “magic mind rock.”
Great song - bought the single back in 1975 I think when I was a Bank Clerk but not for long ..ha ha Saw you live at Glastonberry in 2015 - fantastic concert and put a couple of clips on You tube. Many happy memories and feelings from your songs Thanks
Justin Hayward - "Blue Guitar" (Live) You still have your beautiful ballad voice and lyrics. It is wonderful to see that you are still being creative musically after all these years sir. You have been followed from the very beginning when the Moody Blues entered into the music land arena. You are the Great Night in White Satin. Sending Greetings to you from Phuket Thailand. Holistic Chef Barry Anderson
Blue Guitar and I’m Not In Love both have that surreal hazy feel, perhaps there was something in the air at Strawberry Studios besides the 10cc assemble. A song of pure bliss then and now😎👌
Thanks Justin for such a beautiful song. I only wish your guitar outro on the original recording had lasted longer. Your tone was so glorious on that track. Pure humbucker heaven
Confession: Blue Guitar was never a favorite of mine, but this is stunning...seeing and hearing you play your 335, the instrumentation... so enjoyable, having never seen Blue Guitar at the solo shows I’ve attended. Very much worthy of your Tuesday Afternoon Showcase. 👏🏻💕
Justin, sounds wonderful! It’s been a real favorite to watch and hear in your solo set. We love seeing your 335 come out as much as you always seem pleased to play it again for us, like you did in many hundreds of Moodies’ shows. Thank you for the gift of these charming performances! Sending warm greetings your way..Happy Birthday, and bright and happy times!
Absolutely perfect 💖.
Justin Hayward never disappoints.
His songs are an antidote to this crazy world.
I don’t think some people realize how insane it is how close he sounds to the original close to FIFTY years ago. That is INSANE. Like seriously. Out of this world
There is only one Justin Hayward. I liked Blue Guitar in 1975 and I still like it in 2024.
Such a beautiful song. Makes my heart smile.
a most happy birthday wish to you Justin! i hope you have many more to celebrate. keep on rocking, there are literally millions of us fans who love and appreciate your talent which is an inspiration to us all!
Never heard a bad song from any of the Moody Blues. Is there one?
This is a band of great musicians, with great talent, and God given gifts.
ACTUALLY MARK YES....2 SONGS....LOVE & BEAUTY ALSO BRING ME NO MORE WINE...💖
@@sharonallison9922 I absolutely love Send Me No Wine!
Rock and Roll Over You
If you've been to a MB concert you'll know which ones the crowd leaves during for a bathroom break Same one or two at every concert 😂
One of my absolute favorites.

Yes amazing
Wow!! 45 years later and Justin’s voice is still as good as the original recording. Impressed beyond words really.
The best singer ever x
My favorite justin hayward song of all time
The perfect antidote to a "blue"Tuesday New England afternoon. Thank you, Justin!💙🎸
My all time favorite 🎸 yes we both turned another year older. Here's to us both many many more ❤️
I love this song to this day.
Thank you Justin, for all the joy you bring into our lives.

Justin's voice still delivers
I never considered the classic Moody Blues as a 'guitar band'. But these Tuesday Afternoon vids are affording me a better appreciation of Justin's guitar work.
You were not listening!!!
Ha ha! Agreed! Cheers!@@Rhialto-the-Marvellous
Among the many things I admire about Justin is his posture! And in this performance the guitar playing and singing is so close to the original studio version. Love it.
Absolutely gorgeous! I love this song, and the sounds of that guitar in your hands. Thank you, Justin!
I love you so much Justin!

As a guitar player id love to hang out with justin for a week.
Incredable songwriter
For pre-teen me, this was an absolute favourite song. Still sounds amazing today.
You take me (and maybe everyone else) on a trip. A trip through time, scratching memories out of my head, re-living moments of days gone by. Man, it's been a while. A long, good, sweet while.

Justin sounds good as he ever does. Love the guitar accompaniment. 11/ 23

I was just about to comment similarly - Justin fronting 10CC. Incredible.

And having Mike Dawes playing rhythm guitar is simply ironic. One of Justin's best songs...

Happy Birthday, Justin, as well! I truly appreciate your musical talents. Thanks, Justin...
Since this explanation I cannot here this song anymore without replacing Blue Guitar by You Are. The lyrics seems to be getting more meaning.
