He had two centerpunch marks to choose from, he chose the wrong one. Personally, I would have drilled my holes first, then adjust my cut line to leave 1.5× the hole dia to the edge. But what do I know? I just prefer my shit not fall apart while driving.
@@LXIXTurner you watch this ten times and go under your vehicle you’ll be straight I just got done putting my lift on I bought the truck in September and ordered the lift the day after I bought the truck got it three weeks later the longest wait was getting time off to do it
I installed a 3 1/2 in leveling strut spacer with a 1/4 in Lean spacer ( extra 1/2 in) for a total of 4 in lift on my 2012 F-150 FX4, added a rear block, and my truck looks and rides great, with 35 in Yokos on 20's , so glad I didn't have to go through all that drama, and my truck is fully functional, even on off-road trails, so don't let anybody tell you what can't be done!!!
I seen other professional shops install those rear shocks upside down just like the other competition shocks Fox, Bilstein and King rough country says to install them with the body facing down I noticed my truck was too bouncy so I flipped them around and no more bounciness
That's what you get when someone who's inexperienced or simply doesn't give a shit. It could be both in this case, who knows? Cheap labor isn't skilled and skilled labor isn't cheap. You get what you pay for. The fact that they did it AND left it in the video tells me all I need to know about these yayhoos.
Singing a drill at high speed isn't the move here. Would have been better with a clean pilot hole and finished off with a step bit. More than likely that drill walked.
shouldn't you wait until the truck is on the ground, with the shocks/struts loaded, before tightening them? wouldn't your way damage the bushings and such?
Definitely would cause premature failure if not addressed, but since it needs alignment, I'd venture to say that they will all be reset while on the rack. Let's hope.
Is there a video with this lift except with the lifted struts?? I just bought the rough country full 4inch lift with the lifted struts instead of the strut spacers
Following up on other comments on the screwed up bracket hole. Compare 12:2113:3714:20 there is definitely something sketchy going on. The template used at 12:21 is different than 13:37. At 13:37 the template looks aligned and punched correctly. But you can't tell where the edge of the bracket is relative to the desired hole. Then at 14:20 way too close to the edge compared to the desired location on template at 13:37 . The center of the final hole location also looks higher relative to the corner shown on the template at 12:21. That seems a huge issue for a structural modification.
I just purchased a used F-150 that already had a self leveling kit so I was researching a 4" lift kit to see if the extra 2" is worth it...I don't think so but my girlfriend said it would definitely be worth it if I added 2 inches to something else...Dooooeeee!
You guys (mechanics) are fucking mind blowing cause man I swear I take some of this shit off my truck lol boyyyy let’s just say I ain’t gonna have a few pieces afterwards tryna put it back together
I wish you guys would state if you have a 2 wheel drive truck your gonna have to have a factory 4x4 rear axle spacer as the 2wd uses no spacer and will have lean to the rear
It would cause the front and rear universal joints to be at different angles. This would introduce driveline vibrations and cause the universal joints to fail sooner.. >;)
Hi my friend I just made a 6 "RC , new 35s on 20x12 wheels and tires, but I have a problem, when I pass 65 mph it starts shaking 70+ is worse, with your experience Do you think it is a problem with the RC suspension or with a new alignment and balancing will solve the problem?
good job, looks great, personally I don't really like following all these lifted trucks. even with lower cost kit, your looking at another 3k for wheels and tires. Ya could be extra fun for mudding, but that is about it. I have mine leveled by lowering rear and performance tires, nitto 420's. happy happy

Absolutely agreed buddy. I don't know how they are still in business. Their quality is piss poor to say the least. I think it's hilarious when people put a cheap lift on an expensive truck. I got a 6" Pro Comp on my 2018 and it rides smooth as stock.

That hole he drilled with 5/8 drill bit was very close to the edge
Was just thinking that.
I thought the same thing. A few comments here about that. Looked dangerous
Seems to be the same on the other videos ive seen. Does look sketchy
at 15:07 looks like he had to wallow out the hole further from the edge. Might have had the template in the wrong spot.
He had two centerpunch marks to choose from, he chose the wrong one. Personally, I would have drilled my holes first, then adjust my cut line to leave 1.5× the hole dia to the edge. But what do I know? I just prefer my shit not fall apart while driving.
It's not mentioned in the video, but I'd say it's important to put some paint on any bare metal once the cutting and drilling is done
Whoever buys this lift probably won't have the truck long enough to worry about rust

Finished the lift over the weekend. Thank you!
Not gonna lie... that 5/8" hole that was drilled looked a little sketchy with how little steel was left on that top side.
i thought the exact same thing.. NO WAY i would trust that
Wow.. I seen that and thought screw that I'd rather keep it stock!
he drilled the wrong punch mark. yes very sketch.
I seen that to
Can you say step drill???
So no vacuum pump for iwe actuator on 09-14?
I’m a Readylift kinda guy but Rough Country has come along way. Nice vid.

I was told to never double stack a Lift Blocks 🚫 but lift looks good I need to lift my 2010 F150.
Not an issue if they’re small like that. If your stacking 3” blocks or bigger that’s a no no
Would this be all be the same process if I was to get like a 7 or 8 inch rc lift if they make those?
Nice looks easygoing great job 👍👍👍
just an FIY the CV nut is one time use, as well as upper balljoint nut too.

Can i use rough country’s 2 inch levelled front struts with the spacers?
It's insane how easy you complete this complex procedure.
Please answer to me soon how many inches is the block on the back for lift the rear please thanks

But how are your transfer case seals after some mileage?
Good work
Don’t forget the alignment!!!
This is very involved but very clear. But why the music?
with a 6 inch lift, do i need new upper control arms? or will they be level
😂 i just installed mine and the control arms are rubbing my struts
Just place my order Can’t wait
Thanks Big Bro- appreciate the business! -Justin
Doubt it matters a lot, but the instructions actually call for the RC block to go on the BOTTOM, not the top. And that is how mine has been for years.
Does it matter if I change the front shocks for the lift
I thought the 4" lift came with steel braided brake lines? Mine has them
Great job 👏
Thanks for watching! -Zach
Dude, drill technique? How many rpm were you drilling that steel? Do you get one hole per drill bit? Slow and steady wins the race, buddy
Should have used a step drill instead!
And nobody stopped him
Rim and tire setup? 🤔
I wish you guys would state if you have a 2 wheel drive truck your gonna have to have a factory 4x4 rear axle spacer as the 2wd uses no spacer and will have lean to the rear
I know you added a spacer on the drive-shaft, but wouldn't 4" drop put big-time strain on that front at the differential and at the upper end?
What is the size of the rear blocks?
Looks like a 2”, but not sure
This guy seems pretty new
What happens if you put the lower end of the block tords the back?
It would cause the front and rear universal joints to be at different angles. This would introduce driveline vibrations and cause the universal joints to fail sooner.. >;)
i subscribed!!!!!👍🏻
So do 35 inch tires fit on the 2wd version with only plastic trimming ?
Did you figure this out?
Matt Ward I never got a definite answer no they might still rub with plastic trimming on sharp turns if I were to guess
Thank for the input!
I don't understand why they don't powder coat knuckles from the factory.
Does it drop your mpg??
You could definitely see a drop in your MPG after installing this lift kit since your aerodynamics will be changed. -Zach
Someone just loves the sil glyde brake component lube. Just gobs of it on those pads.

That’s definitely your tires bro lmao
@@pro-impulse2831 it was the wheel spacers, not the tires.
What overall height would a 3” or 4” lift with 35” tires yield on a 2018 F150? Would anybody know that info?
I have that exact kit, 4" lift with 35's. My truck ended up being 6"8', if that helps bro.

Where can i find upper strut spacers?
They should be an option when you order their lift otherwise idk
What about a 2006 f150 xlt
N now I'm going to lunch for a whopper n pay 10 pesos.😂😂😁
I want install a lift kit on my truck but after seeing this video dang I'll probably die before it's finished
Just go with a 3in suspension lift. It's way easier. The extra inch you gain from the 4in lift is not worth all this work.
if your going to do all that work go w/ a 6" lift
great video....good job .. every single step ..how too👍🏻👍🏻✌
With this kit are u able to return to stock if desired? Any cutting?
Nope. The cross members have been cut off. It’s permanent. Now you can go up in lift size but this is as low as it can get.
anyone know where i can find this but for a 2010 4wd?
You just watched it. ..
the steering is different on the 2014 trucks

This shits funny, he labels this a 2 wrench difficulty but a 2 inch lift kit that only requires 2 hours of labor is a 3.
