Lived here a year and a half and I get tons of great tips from Rides 4 Kickz videos. I somtimes do laundry in the Otteri on Soi Buakhao but the food vendors in front now exhaust all their charcoal cooking smoke right into the laundermat. I'll try the Orange place you mentioned. Hey Lucas…thanks for the great tip on motorbike insurance! Did a quick google maps found AA insurance walked inside greeted immediately asked for best coverage bought and finished in 15 minutes. Max coverage (private) came to 8600 baht for a year $20 a month for a 350 2024 Forza…Great experience! Thanks Rob

From experience I can speak highly of Farang Thai Visa. They were a great help in applying for my Retirement Visa. Angie's Taxi service is dependable, and I use them not only for myself but for friends who visit here. I trust her service to pick them up which is important when they are making their first visits here. And I have had a shirt tailored by Lucky and I will have more done in the future with him.

I really enjoy your practical vlogs for living in Thailand... Yes OYO is a good lodging company for budget travel.
I found their properties in the Philippines were quite pleasant clean and and comfortable from $11 to $15 a night.. Very consistent across the board.

Lk Metropole is in need of an update/ refresh.... IMHO
I stay at the Hilton during my many trips to Pattaya and Mr. Deen is right outside on Beach Road sitting on the curb. I rented from him (scooters not big bikes) a few times. Great guy.
I also have used Angie for many years for transport from the airport, and Pattaya to Bangkok. Never any problems. Make sure to give them a nice tip.
I used to Stay and Avani when it was the Marriott. Nice property and great pool.

Something that put me off of the LK Metropole was the terrible smell of the towels in my room. It may just be that I do not like the smell of the detergent that they use there but you have a nice shower to feel fresh and clean and then have to dry off with a smelly towel 😩

Thanks, Lucas. This information is right on time. I am retiring and coming back to Pattaya (twenty years in the planning) sometime in June or July, I'm already a member of the VFW there. (That reminds me: Could you do something about organizations that would be of interest to farangs?)
Great idea ... a list of all the organizations, associations, clubs, etc (American Legion, VFW, Moose, Elk, Kiwanis, Shriners, Odd Fellows, Eagles, Owls, Scottish Clans, Druids, etc) in the Pattaya area that cater to Western Farangs.
I just asked him about VFW in Thailand a week ago, great timing. I was curious as to what activities they do locally. Did you transfer your membership from a US Post? Congratulations on your upcoming retirement and move to Thailand.
I always say, the best time to move here is in June or July, God Speed 👍👍
With all the loud motorcycles and smoking pickups, one has to wonder if the inspections are enforced. Many Thai will upgrade their headlights without aiming them and blind oncoming traffic. Never assume other drivers have anything more than the required minimum instance. Also, read the fine print of any insurance policy. You will be surprised by the high deductibles and vehicle replacement limits. Even if the policy states a coverage cap, they will never pay it! If repairs exceed 70% of the maximum coverage amount, they will total the vehicle, leaving you to payoff the difference.
Great video. I liked and subscribed. Question for you. I am coming to pattaya for a month in early april. Im pretty sure central pattaya is where im going to stay. Any recommendations on Apartment buildings to stay through airbnb. I have seen THE EDGE, THE BASE which all look very good but everything seems to be 35-40 sq meters. Any other recommendations. Im going to book soon. Just a little wary about staying in the hotel rooms with all my stuff and someone coming in while im gone. I dont need a missing laptop etc etc. also ,,im a single guy and i like the places i see in JOMTIEN but want to be where the actions is. Thanks

Good vid... I must say the opening of laundry mat/machine places in the last 1-2 yrs has been prolific! and very welcome... They are everywhere now... I also recently used AA insurance broker for medical insurance, very helpful... *knock on wood* hopefully never have to use it... but better safe than sorry (esp if immigration changes the ret visa req to require it)... Don't really use a broker for Visa services... (but that will change if the dreaded TAX requirements start being enforced).... Speaking of which... Would like to see some *trusted* tax account places/services if that comes to pass... Cheers...

Top centre optical is fantastic, and I visited from Lat Krabang and I tried to get a taxi there from Pattaya bus station and no driver knew the address, so I phoned him, and he came and picked me up, I chose and got sorted with new frame and lenses then he took me back to bus station, and he did the same when I collected my order one week later. That is what I call service. Forgot to say I got coffee and cakes whilst there also.

Hey, Lucas...last year I stayed at the Pattaya Blue Sky on Soi 5 and truthfully, it was fantastic. Check it out...I paid less than $20/night and it is a less than three minute walk to Beach Road.

Actually, a lot of folks in Bang Saen go to the hospital in Sriracha. But Burapha Hospital is right in the middle of town and an excellent facility.

A few Asked-For places I would have added: 1) Places to repair your clothes; 2) Places where they shine your shoes.
Lan does alterations and repairs, she has people dropping off clothes almost daily. There is a shoe repair right next to the optical shop I featured but not sure about shines.
do you need an IDL to rent a 125cc? Do you need to show anything in case you get pulled over at all? I got a driving license is that good enough?

About the services, I hear you speak about the eyes, but for me it is more important to know a good dentist? Did I miss this service in your co tent?
No recommendation but there are many to chose from, we might have to shop around for one soon though, so I can always add to the list.

I’m surprised you did not give a recommendation for both a legit good quality Thai massage as well as a haircut.
Too many great ones in town actually, but I find it is a lot more about the specific person performing the service than the place itself.

Ok smart guy. Say Im staying in a hotel in Jomtien and im out near soi bukkhao or somewhere in the middle of pattaya, and then all of the sudden, I NEED to find a restroom. And i mean the number two is coming and it might just rival something the usa dropped on japan.

Oyo has very volatile prices. Sometimes it is $11 a night and sometimes $21. It is more like a warehouse than a hotel, they have many, many packages all over.
