    I'm a firm believer in the flowbee since the eighties; If you were using a contraption like the Flowbee or Robocut back then, you had to keep a lid on it as the jealous fools who just want to poke fun, will call you a Vacuum Head or too cheap to pay a Barbour.
    So, I've been secretly saving thousands of dollars and laughing all the way to the bank for well over 35 years. It does take some skill. Granted; There is a learning curve but once you learn the angles and small obstacles.....Your LQQK'IN GOOD and paying nothing. Also, you don't have to try to convey to the tired old Barbour how you wish to style your hair. Oh. yeah, and he nipped my earlobe to a bloody mess one time too!!! Flowbee has gained slow acceptance over the years but I still go undercover.....
    Thanks for your helpful vids.

      Great comment, Sparkx. Thank you. You're what I call a Flowbee Pro. My only regret is not starting years ago. Great point, having to explain to the barber each time you go in and hoping they get it right. That was a pet peeve of mine. I have one adult son who asks for a Flowbee cut every time he visits. And he's good looking and cares about his hair!! LOL

    Follow up and I figured you'd want to know Tom. I know we spoke about shaving down this small attachment with a piece of sandpaper and I sat here considering it. Then I just said screw it, let's see what happens if I try this with no attachment at all. Don't worry, I was safe and had a tourniquet near by. 😬
    No issues. Never touched skin. No grand catastrophe. I think it's the perfect length and it blended in well with the small angle attachment to the top, which I have currently at about 2-3".
    So, it worked for me. I take no responsibility for anyone cutting the tip of their ear off, but I figured people were probably wondering, and couldn't think of a better Guinea pig than myself.
    Good luck

    My buddy has been using one of these since 2004, he recommended using a shop-vac for extra suction. I use my 6.5HP Ridgid and it works great. No adapter needed, Flowbee plugs right in with the adapters that come with it. Can't believe I never tried this before. For a nice clean military style cut, this thing is dead simple.

    I actually just ordered a flowbee for myself on eBay. A year ago I went back to a short hair cut like I had 30 years ago. My problem is, the girl who was cutting my hair is not cutting hair now at the moment and I, for the life of me, find a place that will cut my hair the way I want it! I went for a cut back in December and was hacked so bad I’m still trying to grow out the top to the length I wanted! I used the clippers we have already for the sides and back and was like darn! If only I had the courage to do the top! Then I remembered a funny infomercial from 30 years ago…and the search began! So I found one on eBay and got sent an offer that seemed fair, and found that they have a special flowbee vac as well! Now I’m trying to find vids how to actually give myself the cut I want and ditch the hair dressers for good! I’ve been cutting my partners hair for 11 years so that’s whose clippers I used. Been cutting his hair, I used to cut my sons as well, but he does that reverse fade thing and I have no clue how to do that. Maybe he will let me use the flowbee and I’ll cut his too again! My friend said her former fil had one and loved it! Sooo looking forward to getting mine!

      Just gave myself a cut last night and couldn't be happier. My wife helps me do the back and the neck with clippers and it's all good. I was back in the midwest two weeks ago and my 32 year old son asked me to cut his with the Flowbee I gifted him after having given him so many cuts in the past with mine. After you use it for a bit you get really comfortable and confident. Much more so than walking in and getting a new person everytime you go into the shop. I almost used to get anxiety wondering what the result was going to be. Now I know each and every time. Good Luck!! -Tom

    Do you use the 1/4th attachment instead of the trimmer now or still both?

    • @evolutionaryTom
      @evolutionaryTom  9 місяців тому

      I still use the clippers for the hairline, especially in the back. It's good for cleaning the sideburns and neck hair (and eyebrows if you're old like me). The 1/4" attachment is great but it still doesn't get at tight as I like it. I've found the 1/4" attachment is also good for shaping the sides. I like my sides to go more towards straight up, than out like a mushroom. It works great for that. I keep wondering when someone will start 3D printing custom flowbee attachments. Thanks for the question, Joey.

    • @evolutionaryTom
      @evolutionaryTom  Рік тому

      It's a pretty dry operation, Reticuli. I don't think it is intended to be disassembled and cleaned. Their are wires inside of the vacuum hose and I'm not sure how you could address those without breaking something. Maybe one of the 30 year Flowbee Pros could add something here? -Thanks, Tom

    • @evolutionaryTom
      @evolutionaryTom  4 роки тому

      Adam, unfortunately, I'm not sure. I tried looking at the attachments on my cordless clipper and the numbers there don't correlate to a regular clipper number. I know what you mean, like my barber used to start with a number 2 on my head. What I did was mark the attachments I use for my Flowbee cut, and then put the rest away so they don't accidentally get used. I've got 4 attachments I use. The tallest one, the next size down, and then these two new short attachments. -Tom

    Hi. I have been wanting a 1/4 short attachment for a long time. But I am not paying $13 with shipping for a piece of plastic. Is there anyway I can modify one of the regular spacers and just use that? Because I feel I could get a shorter cut. But like you said it needs air flow tho.

    • @evolutionaryTom
      @evolutionaryTom  4 роки тому +1

      Thinking about that, you need both ends. The end that attaches to the clipper, and the end that allows for air flow. You could sand down the air flow end, reducing the height of the spacer a little. But you need the end that attaches to the clipper. $13 seems expensive with shipping but prorate that over the number of haircuts you are saving on and your ROI is very fast. Or, if you have access to a 3D printer, you might be able to come up with your own attachments. That would be cool. -Tom

      It is highway robbery, but you are also buying convenience and style as well. Is $1 per cut over 19 cuts too much for a better style with no cleanup? That is for both 1/4" adapters (straight and angled) and shipping. Tax might be extra.
