Because unlike us horology weirdos, most people aren't going to spend $250 for a $20 watch. And I say this as someone who owns TWO Royales modded with the kits in this video.
@@speedyspooleyI think there may be a digital vs. analog component also. Digital is just perceived as always cheap now, no matter all the functions. So contrast the 1200 to the lineage lcw-m100tse-1ajf which is titanium and sapphire for $170-$200 plus. The difference to me seems to be form factor and/or analog, physical moving hands, etc.
@@clange50 Since casio offers the A1100D-1 in stainless steel and various digital metal G-Shock models in the luxury watch segment, all of which are sold successfully, I think the thesis is a bit far-fetched. :-) Casio could certainly offer the AE-1200 in metal for less than 200 and it would fly off the shelves in no time.
I love my Royale, so I'm seriously going to consider this! I think I'd probably go for the matt version, looks great on the green canvas strap. I assume the blue back light is an upgraded module, is it electro luminescence? Your videos are the best Kieron, thanks so much! 👍
'LED back light' according to the website. It is much brighter than the factory version I must say. I'm going to have a bit of a play around with all the parts, including my AE1300 and see what I can make. Cheers Rik! Always good to see you here my friend
I bought 2 of their mods, one black and one matte. Both great quality and I really enjoyed the mod process. Now I am going to add a different colour back light to it.
My go-to GMT watch for travel is this watch in a stainless steel SKXMOD case on a Vario grey elephant leather strap. Love this watch and knowing that I have almost 10 times the investment in the case/crystal/strap than I have in the watch itself. Makes me want to giggle.
Quite the thorough review of these mods! One thought entered my mind: since SKX Mods offers their own customized modules, wouldn't this mean you could build your own "complete" custom Royale from their catalog?
SKX Mod are amazing. Here you said the Royale has only one problem but In your other video about the 1300, you totally roasted it for being nerdy and the watch of nerds etc. It was so full on that you almost had me feeling sorry for Shane over at Relative Time with his Indiana Jones and Star Wars toys etc. Anyway, you've redeemed yourself with this one but to be honest I prefer the 1600 to the 1300. Great video.
Hahah I did roast it quite a bit didn't I. But I still love the thing, I wear it often actually. I still do think it looks rather nerdy though. But I actually like it more with this sterile case from SKDMOD.
The kits state that the steel cases are hardened, will the polished case still pick up scratches easier than the matte version? I want to order one of these kits for use as a work watch. Any info to help with the decision would be appreciated.
There's no real way to stop steel scratching... Especially in a work environment. I'd highly recommend not getting the polished case version if it's going to be used for work. It will look much worse scratched up than the matte version
About a year ago I bought the stainless steel case/bracelet and sapphire crystal mod. Strangely, my AE-1200 with the mod is now the watch I own that cost the most. 😂
I think some collectors are looking for a more premium experience, which is undeniably better with the mod. But yes, wear it out, throw it away and buy another. Although that's not as fun is it 😜
Can you kindly let me know what faceplate you used in 5:05 of the video? I'd like to use that particular one for my SKXMod build, but that specific colorway (white print on silver) doesn't seem to be offered on their website. Thank you kindly!!
Hi, I'm sorry but I have no idea. It's one that SKXMOD sent over. I'd advise emailing Kenneth over at SKXMOD and he'll help you out. Just send over a screenshot and he'll help you I'm sure :)
Was about to order but then saw this "Due to inevitable outcome, part of the engraved lettering is now changed to "ILLUMINATION"." Not sure how Ii feel about that
Cool kits and all, but the prices are hilarious. The stock watch is sold for less than $20 where I live. I'd rather buy a $200-300 proper watch than spending that kind of money on this. I think that the hipster/ironic trend is long gone.
Might be something with the module? I just purchased one, and it appears dim from certain angles. It's been driving me mad. I need to compare against another one.
@@NeoWahNah I just got one for myself, and yes, I face the same problem, it does appears dim from angles, it's just the way it's made, but I do recommend checking if the battery is low, it also appears dim in the battery saving mode, hope it helps 👍
You came SO CLOSE but you neglected to 1)Scrub off the unnecessary lettering off the face with a Q-Tip and 91% Isopropyl Alcohol. 2) Hydrofill it with MicroLubrol 50 cSt silicone oil AFTER adding a few drops of blue coloring and 3) Where are the different colored film sections? Tsk tsk tsk! Nice try but no cigar, rookie. Better luck, next time.😉
Not that incredible , I have it, wear it every day and it needs to be readjusted every 6 months or so, because it’s late with time. That’s weird for digital watch that is supposed to be very precise.
It should be "you could audition for the next dumb and dumber movie". The term 'can' insinuates that there is one... Which there isn't. So maybe you should audition for it instead.
Great video. I ordered one of these and upgraded my world time a few months ago. I agree, it completely transforms the watch. wears a lot better.
Good man, which version did you get? I'm leaning towards the matte one at the moment
The real question that is on everybody's lips is: why does Casio not release a full-metal/hi-spec version of the Royale themselves?
Hahaha, very very true.
Because people will complain that it's too expensive for a digital watch just like Tissot PRX Digital.

It’s a shame they don’t make a brushed finish case :(
I was online last night, and Casio now makes a steel version!
Really? I can't find it. Have the model number?
s the water resistance still working after modifying the watch?
yes

Yes, you know you love it. You did amazing things in this video. The SKX mod things also look incredible with the 1300 and 1600.
These mods transformed the Royale from a God-tier watch to a Super Saiyan God 😊
Nice reference!
hope they make a casio royale with solar and multiband 6
Hi mate do you know the case etc off the skmie 1335 fit the royale
Sorry I know it’s been a few months. But does the case finishing match the bracelet for the matte? I’ve heard they aren’t an exact match.

Oh and definitely get the matte, the super shiny is just... no. Too much bling. :)
Oh man... so they added a milled clasp to the shiny one, but not matte, I just checked on their website. Boo.
There's nothing wrong with the build quality. If it breaks, buy a new one. $23 on sale
I think some collectors are looking for a more premium experience, which is undeniably better with the mod. But yes, wear it out, throw it away and buy another. Although that's not as fun is it 😜
Or you could build it to last and never have to replace it while also making it wear and look better.

@@TopTierTicker thank you! I did, and was informed that it was from an original Casio Royale.
Will this modification upgrade work with the all resin Casio?
It works with 4 different models I believe. If you visit the SKXMOD site, it tells you which modules fit inside :)
Now we’re talking! 😎
A watch MacGyver and his nemesis Murdock would agree was bad ass…..
where can buy this case?
Keep up the great video mate 👍
Cheers mate! Appreciate the support as always!
How about water resistant?
I need one, how to buy it!
waiting for for the new model 2023 "LF 20w " it have the same module.
Oh wow. Skxmod have updated their shiiiit. Milled claps and titanium casebacks are new.
They are indeed, I actually contacted them around 4 months ago to review a kit, but they told me about the new upgrades coming, so I waited!

Stainless

Custom fit steel, sapphire and titanium ain't cheap!
... a kit for G-Shock 5600!
I want to buy casio royale but it is not available in India can you help me
Let me get a rose gold case with a black rubber cts strap.

Polished one look perfectly and scratches can be easiliy removed by polishing while if you scratch that matte one, you are done.
My question is what is it actually.. because the videos pfp is super confusing. Saying steel and then titanium
The cases are Stainless steel, the casebacks are titanium, the crystals are sapphire.
@@TopTierTicker Oh that's a disappointment, the casing should be titanium if the backing is titanium. Would be so much better
You'd have to like that watch a lot to spend $250 on it. I have one, leather band. Looks great.
They look great on a leather strap. But the case is relatively affordable, and massively improves the quality and durability
Nice work. One criticism, you seem to have worked hard to remove every gap between spoken words - all pauses removed. It's tiring and annoying.
çok pahalı
I just wet my pants...gotta get one of these kits
😆😆😆 Love that
Damn, these look tempting...
Did you guys find that the screen on the matte one wasn't as clear? Is there something I'm missing?

no titanium anywhere smh

@@TopTierTicker Thanks for updating. On their reddit page, they say their DNS was hijacked and for some regions they are down. I am in Southeast Asia.
