Brady Corbet is a truly genuine caring guy, for him to offer condolences for Aubrey Plaza's loss of her husband made me cry. That look of emotion on his cute daughter's face was the sweetest thing I've ever seen on an award show. Can't wait for his Oscar speech! ♥️🙏
@@janechoy2073 You're wrong! I thought it was sweet and hearing him stand up for other directors was incredibly inspiring like Cord Jefferson last year. He did great! Just because it doesn't meet your expectations doesn't mean it's not good so get over it!
Am I the only one who doesn’t care if the winners read off paper or a phone? I don’t know why some get condemned for that. They aren’t winning awards for public speaking they are winning awards for their work! I prefer them reading to someone getting up there carrying on and rambling. At least with it written down they’ll thank all they need to thank without forgetting. I don’t need them to convince me they should have won… their work would have already done that.
Exactly! Brady Corbet still talked about his cute daughter which was so sweet and paid tribute to Jeff Baena. Those two mentions made it one of the best speeches of the night! Anyone who wasn't moved by that is just disrespectful and truly insane.
Yes, I never dog anyone for writing a speech. Just shows they really want to make sure nothing is missed. Same as I don’t dog anyone who doesn’t write one because they don’t want to either jinx their chances or because they honestly don’t think they will win (until they do😂)
@@eduardofigueiredo2491 I'm rooting hard for Nicole Kidman to be nominated for an Oscar. She's outstanding. My neighbor is rooting hard for Angelina Jolie for an Oscar. She thinks she's superior. My brother is rooting hard for Mikey Madison for an Oscar. He thinks she's wonderful.
Kevin Frazier was truly terrible as the announcer, his tidbits about the winners when they walked up to the stage were annoying and unnecessary. Hope they bring back longtime announcer Shawn Parr again, he was great as always last year.
Huge congrats to The Brutalist - the most astonishing film of the year. Deserved to win Director, Actor & Picture. Wish Guy Pearce could have won Supporting Actor too but thrilled for the film overall. And I’m so happy for Shogun. Phenomenal series 👏
Agreed! I wish that Felicity Jones would've won Supporting Actress she had real depth and emotion to her character and was way more deserving than Zoe Saldaña just doing weird singing.
I think this helps Torres tremendously, the only Drama actress winners that have missed are Winslet who replaced herself with “The Reader”. Even then she probably made the top 5 with “Revolutionary Road”, but due to rules that one was disqualified. The next one was MaClaine in 1989, but there was a 3-way tie win that year.
Love the GGs last night. Nikki Glaser did a wonderful job as host, love the presenters, love that we got some surprises in the wins especially Tadanobu Asano and Demi and I love both of their speeches 🙂. Brady Corbet giving love and support to Aubrey's and Jeff's family 💔.
Your major problem of building blocks to your top 5 best actress is you still consider Erivo a shoe in where in fact she's not. Wicked and even Anora got shut out at the Globes. Madison maybe she's still in the race, but not Erivo considering she's in a kids movie. Let's get real, besides there won't be 4 actresses from comedy/musical. You keep eliminating drama actresses while sticking with the same four from musical comedy just because they are in potential BP, but voters don't pick their best actress solely based on that.
Please stop with this Wicked is a kid movie narrative. Beauty and the Beast was a kids movie that received a Best Picture nomination. There are themes in Wicked that are relevant to today’s political and social landscape. Yeah, it’s populist, but it also tackles issues that we are dealing with in real life.
Demi changed my mind with her lovely acceptance speech. When she left the stage I turned to my partner and said… she just secured her Oscar nomination. It was so heartfelt, raw, and honest. I wasn’t the biggest Substance fan. I loved it up until act 3. It went off the rails and they totally lost me. That being said, her narrative is very compelling. We’ve grown up watching her movies and for this to be the first time she’s getting recognition… I see her definitely getting an Oscar nomination now. People are rooting for her… me included. My fav performance of the year is Cynthia Erivo, but if Demi won the Oscar, I’d be happy.
Im still sad no Dune 2 didn't win anything, and that's the best movie of the year for me,and it's a shame that Ralph Fiennes never wins anything, and he's one of the best.
I have to say that I felt the winner’s narrative very heavy handed this awards show. Sebastian’s speech was a reminder that he is indeed nominated for “the apprentice” on bafta. Demi was trying to remind us all how we took her granted. Zoe Saldaña has dyslexia so that’s why the win didn’t make sense.
@@ssshar2176 True.. but Angelina is a house hold name and hollywood royalty. The Academy loves Bio Pics and she’s a former winner. She also gives a big performance. But I can still see her missing.. i think the 4th & 5th slots are up for grabs at the moment between Kidman, Gascon, Jolie, Baptiste, and Torres. As of now I think Demi Moore, Mikey Madison, and Cynthia Erivo are locks for nominations. That could all change tho once SAG & Bafta announces noms

I feel like in UK and US there's always an overly strong sense of competition. You always are fighting your way into getting anything. You both are extensively and sometimes, not to say banging on about who might be nominated on the different awards, as if life would depend on that. Personally, it's a shame that any film association or academy goes with the popular flow instead of prizing the best performance and movie in terms of direction, acting, music, and movie quality. Any people that makes up a specific association or academy should exclusively vote the winners based on the quality and not on what or who is the talk of town at specific moment. Additionally, that someone wins the Golden globe doesn't mean they will win the Bafta and the coveted Academy award. In 1996, who would have said that Frances McDormand would take the Academy award off when she did not win the golden globe or the bafta? In 2001 who would have said that Halle Berry would achieve the Academy award when she did not grab the Golden globe or the bafta? And who would have predicted that Adrien Brody would win the Academy award when he did not take the Golden globe (it was Jack Nicholson) or the Bafta (it was Daniel Day Lewis)? All that anyone can do is just estimations and uneducated guess. Nobody really knows what will happen in the end and that's the truth.

The themes and dialogue were crafted poorly and addressed to 5th graders. Simple as that.
Oh right… you’re highbrow. Well, that 5th grade IP was nominated and won Tonys. It will be nominated for Best Picture.

Why are people freaking out over GG winners? These are journalists' picks. There's no crossover in terms of voters from SAG, Oscars, BAFTA, etc .
The Globes are pretty good at predicting the Oscars
I think Conclave’s win is a show of its strength, because the screenplay isn’t its strong suit.
