Hey Chris, I don't think we should count out Mohammad Rasoulof in director for The Seed of the Sacred Fig because it's a NEON film and they got in Justine Triet and Ruben Östlund the last two years.
Chris, you weren’t even seriously considering The Substance for any awards back in October, remember?.. Now the film gets 5 BAFTA nominations, including Director, Screenplay, and Actress. You’re acting like it needs to hit in every category and you’re saying it’s a bad day for The Substance. Seriously, what is your problem with this film?
Actually not very true. He was doubting it's chances due to, well, the Substance of the movie, But he Adored it and adores it and has always been hope dicting. I'm not his burner account.
Chris, Sing Sing was definitely never a SAG movie because it's just a small film with a bunch real life prison convicts playing themselves, it's kinda like Nomadland. I don't why you both still think it is.
@JoshFriedman786 Irrelevant. We're not comparing past roles to decide whether you deserve it this time. Besides, as Katharine Hepburn said, they always give you the award for the wrong part. I'd argue with her over The Lion in Winter, but I get her point.
Ppl keep saying someone is missing from the Cynthia, Demi, Karla, Mikey group Oscar Nom day, but I don’t think so. Not every year an actress is going to miss after hitting all the precursors just because it’s happened the last 3 years. I’d love to see Karla miss if there is going to be one from that group, but I think all 4 are safe and we just have MJB, Torres, Jolie, Kidman, Ronan battling it out for 5th. I’m sorry, I just can’t see Pamela Anderson, but welcome to the awards circuit girl
I honestly don’t see how you can walk out of The Last Showgirl and nominate JLC but not Anderson. I would say they’re likely a package deal. If we see JLC announced in BSA, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Anderson’s name later on.
I thought they were great, but not Oscar worthy. There’s so much better performances this year. If we’re looking at quality of performance, Anderson should not beat MJ baptiste, or Fernanda Torres or even Angelina Jolie
Why do so many pundits assume that movie folks have been cold to The Apprentice because they are afraid of Trump? Some folks are just sick of hearing about Trump. It's been impossible to escape the guy for the last 10 years.
@@DavidPence-lr4kj The Substance is not that great of a movie either. I honestly don't know what people are overrating it as if it's better than Get Out or Us.
Emilia Perez all the way baby 😅 It'll, if it happens, be Worse than Shakespeare in Love, tho not for me and, oddly, not to a Ton of voters. The non lovers of EP are just LOUDER
this isn’t directed towards you two at all, but i was just thinking. i find it weird how when wicked came out, everyone was screaming “recency bias” and claimed it was only in the conversation because it just came out, but now that a complete unknown is gaining momentum, people haven’t said anything similar. i think a lot of people just genuinely don’t like “feminine” type movies and severely underestimate them at every turn just because
People are saying similar things about A Complete Unknown. It's just that the recency bias with ACU works in it's favors because it came out right when voting for these awards was beginning
Not really tho I appreciate your stance. Personally feeling it's more of the lack of hope with a best picture worthy true musical nominee, Broadway to Hollywood, that is.
Nosferatu seems extremely strong below the line with 5 bafta noms could it get the number 10 slot best picture slot at rhe oscars sort of like nightmare alley did?
Yeah that could happen and it's a huge box office success so it could make PGA and many filmmakers have praised it including Sean Baker so it might have the edge over The Substance.
@@JoshFriedman786 An edge over The Substance? Why The Substance? The Substance is in a good position to be nominated for Best Picture, it seems top 7 or 8. Thoughts on Supporting Actress. I can actually see more passion toward Jamie Lee Curtis & Monica Barbaro. They both made SAG, obviously the stronger acting guild over the BAFTA's. I can see a world where they both make it in with Saldana & Grande. The 5th slot then in my mind would come down to Isabella Rossellini or Felicity Jones one of the BAFTA nominees. I had no idea Jamie Lee Curtis won a BAFTA for Trading Places. Cool.
Yeah and a better performance with more depth than the one she won the Oscar for.
