For a reason I cannot logically understand, the videos of you guys travelling inland France in gloomy november feels more interesting than the summer sailing. Is it the charm of stone medieval cities combined with the off-season solitude, is it your poetic commentary or maybe it is just my inner nostalgia that your story is awaking? Don't care, but cannot wait for more. Keep it safe!
Jacek Grudziński thank you so much Jacek. I too feel like I’ve found my groove with these videos, for a number of reasons I think. I think the most important reason is that we now have obstacles, and any good story requires an obstacle to overcome. The cold, the wind, the currents - they all lend themselves towards a story of adventure. Sailing around Sicily from one nice anchorage to another in the summer was beautiful, but it was more difficult to pull a real story out of those events, because it didn’t have that same beginning/middle/end. The other reason, I think, is that this whole series is now based on an end goal: to reach the North Sea. That puts every episode into a larger context, and I think adds a lot to the overall story. Again, when sailing in the summer, we didn’t have that larger end goal so the episodes stood more alone. I’ve learned from this that having an end goal, with some conflict along the way, is essential for a good adventure story, and I’ll continue to keep that in mind for all future episodes!
@@SailingMagicCarpet I do like your commentary. Your voice is mesmerising and the content is great. I think some silence and space adds gravitas and sometimes your pace moves too quickly. I'm taken in by a wonderful thought or concept and while I'm still enjoying that the next one has arrived and almost gone. I feel Aladino's cold weather, even though we have 24 degrees here now.
Your story telling takes us by the hand and lead us away from these hard days. Your words and pictures are filled with beautiful descriptions and thoughts. Their descriptions let us feel the whisper of the ancient towns, the slowly floating river and hear the sound of the water passing along the boat. We all can feel the cold and see how the sipinnig leaves forecast the coming winter. Magic words and stories.
Maya, your gift with words is as magical as the surroundings you are describing. The soft lilt of your voice, the poetic measure, and your gentle spirit are truly amazing. Dino; you’re a very lucky man to have found such a jewel.
I was so uplifted to watch and listen to this video. There is certainly a tension between the cold and miserable Mistral and the beauty of the Rhone, especially the ancient towns. Your commentary is always poetic in its descriptiveness, Maya.
Excellent! You have such an amazing command of the English language & a beautiful “signature” in your voice. Look forward to possibly purchasing an audio book or all your travels. I can listen to your voice and story telling all day. Best. Peter Reynolds Australia
Your narration was absolutely wonderful. Make me wish I could be there with you. It is great that someone of your generation has presented the past to others. THANK YOU!!!!
Your videos make your journey so real to those of us at home. I admire your fortitude, your endless optimism and good attitude. I applaud that no matter how tired you are you take time to look at the places that you pass through. Thank you Mia and Dina for making so much more than a vlog, each one gives a real flavour of France , both industrial and cultural. As a pensioner, I only wish I could become a patreon, but sadly that is not possible. Looking at your proposed route I anticipate you will pass through Verdon sur la Doubs, if so you will pass my friend's house at a commune near there. Happy boating.
Beautifully crafted, as always. Stylishly narrated ... and lovely to hear so much from Aladino too (his gift of humour a clue to the fun times you enjoy chatting together). Thanks for sharing ... months ago, I know, but a timeless story! Go well, hope you can get underway again soon. Roy
I've been watching your videos with my daughter. We love the Maya's story telling. Inspired by your stories, my daughter longs to spend her life sailing. We are watching your current videos, and while waiting for new episodes we are watching your videos from the beginning.
Really enjoy your videos... And I love your comments. When you talk about the town's you video and go into you make me feel like I there walking along with the two of you... Thanks for letting me come along..
Ssssslowly catching up on your videos, as slowly (but surely!) as you're doing the same on the river! Maya, your narration keeps on inspiring with each new video―you've certainly got the heart of an adventurer and the soul of an artist! Journeying onto the rest of your series now!
My plans are changing daily lately, after sitting for 180 days 😲. I might be buying a boat this week and starting my voyage soon after that. I thank you for your beautiful and inspiring videos.
I love your videos and adventures. Those towns and old buildings are amazing. I can only dream of going to places like that. I could sit here all night telling you what I love about your videos but I think you get it. Stay safe and warm. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you for beautiful interlude. I too have vivid memories of traveling in winter in Deutschland and Austria. Tramping about, discovering warm places and drinking in smokey bars is so much better in winter.
I love your beautiful narration, it is a true joy to listen. You have a unique style and personality, that makes this so much more than just another sailing channel. I often listen on my wireless headphones as I putter around the house doing daily chores and the audio narrative is totally compelling in it's own right. I then have the pleasure in hearing it again when I watch the video.
Very enjoyable. You are such a wonderful wordsmith! When listening to your colorful descriptions I’m reminded of Jack London and Farley Mowat. You need to write a book.👍✌️😊🙏🏼⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️
One of your best videos yet. I used to visit a town (Livron) on this route. I don't rememember Viviers, but I remember Avignon, Montélimar, La Voulte and Valence. Hope you enjoy this part of France of which I have such fond memories. I wish I could revisit and put right some of the mistakes I made there fifty years ago...
Can’t wait! Beautiful narrative and visuals. True poetry. The deserted towns remind of what it is must be like right now with stay in place orders or at least enough concern about one’s health to limit exposure to the streets. Enjoy, stay healthy and most importantly happy.
Thanks much Maya and Aladino! Im from the Philippines. Finally catched up with your latest episode after ive started episode 1 in less than a week. Thanks for making me like a passenger/ guest in your soulful jpurney!🙌😊❤👍
Maya...you are such a great story teller. Those skills are priceless and very necessary for later years. Your audience will love you more when your hair turns grey and your stories come from a time long ago. (Personal experience). ❤️⛵️🐳

Great video. I did catch larger than 1m waves on that same route, 30 years ago, with a 25ft sailboat and a 9.9hp outboard. We almost lost the mast overboard as it was not tied to support such banging. At times people walked faster than us on shore as we battled the current.
Hello, I am a new sub. Wonderful piece, and Maya what superb narration! I so appreciate the studio like voice over which adds clarity and another dimension to your video.

But unlike Netherlands where the canal are integral with the towns and villages . You will enjoy it so much when you get there. Cheers Warren
You should see the flight locks on the Welland Canal in Canada . They raise massive 26,000 ton ships up to 226 metres in length , ascending 42.5 metres (139.5 ft) in only three lengths of the vessel, the world's largest flight locks are something to see .
