Hi Alex, thanks for the tip. It's a bit of a learning curve to get the best from this amp. Your tips are some of the best I've seen. Should have way more views. I could see someone setting up a whole library of patches with different EQ's, and gain structures, to emulate different amplifiers.
I was so underwellmed when I got mine. And same once I figured out how to use the EQ, it has just blown my mind how versatile it really is. I use a Harley Benton amarok, active pick ups. It's an awsome amp. It can adapt to any genre of music. I play metal and it's amazing. I don't care what people say. They just don't know how to use them properly. Tone studio's is a must to unlock its full potential. Now with the new update theirs 2 more distortion pedals. The HM-2 am metalcore. How could you complain about with what you get for the price. Yeah get a tube amp foe $1500 then get tubescreamer or distortion pedal for another $500. No thanks $350 and you can get more effects than you'll ever need and you can get any sound from crisp cleans to hi gain and everything in between.
I was very underwhelmed when I got my Katana 50 Mk 2, especially with the heavier crunch tones. Using the EQs in Tone Studio made a big difference. I also use the different amp types in the Katana Librarian app which has improved it even more.
A great tool is the gumtown Floorboard. It allows you to create custom Chains, so you can put any effect in any location. The other thing it has, aside from all the ‘sneaky’ amps, is hundreds of preconfigured patches. I’m loving this amp
I have the Artist and had the same effect. One thing is turn down the gain section volume and turn up the master, same as a tube amp and the feel and tone is better. Tone Studio is a must.
I've found with my Katana Artist MK2 I cut the 16khz by -6 db and that really helped with the harsh bitiness of the amp.
Great illustration on the parametric, thanks, I have not tried this yet but Im already getting great tones. Can only make them better.
Thank you for this man, extremely helpful.

I totally agree!!!
I got the MK 1 version. 100 Watt head into a Marshall 4--12....I use various pedals with it. I NEVER use the "Tone Studio" ever.

Ok, but what most of us are interested is how does it sound through the speaker
Dig it man, I really gotta talk with you sometime about the whole katana thing
Pre and post eq for distortion is critical and has been around forever. Tube amps as well need this.
Is that 46 & 2 by Tool, the bass riff ur playing at the beginning? Lol
Hi, I'm having a really hard time with the Katana.
Did you try Global EQ??? This seems more complicated than necessary.
I've never got a good clean out of a boss katana
I paid £150 for a mk1 100watt
The parametric eq is better than the global. You need to mess with the actual eq. Not the one in the fx or mods.
