Just ordered a Ruger Predator in .223. I love that these take AR mags. I was on the fence about this one vs the Ranch in 5.56, but I like the longer barrel of the .223 to reduce bullet drop.
I have a Ruger American 223 Remington with the 22 inch barrel, it shoots like a champ out to 650 and 700 yards , and can make fairly accurate shots out to a thousand. I have over 3,000 rounds on that barrel and it's still under one moa at 100 yards anyway. Oh yeah I forgot to mention I put a fairly cheap muzzle brake from palomino State armory on it and even though it's loud as shit it is a lot of fun to shoot.
I have the Ruger American Ranch in 223 and 53gr Vmax is about 10mm group at 100m…. That would be .4 inches at 109 yards. Thats the only ammo that shoots good. All other brands are 1.5 MOA or more.
This is a crazy rifle, it's not fancy, it looks simple. It shoots dime size groups at 100 yds with 62 grain green top!!! Like the man says " YOU NEED THIS GUN"!!!
I was making sure it worked lol. It made a fun little sound when it hit the ground. But in all reality the mag release just worked so well that I liked pushing it haha
I was raised not wearing any hearing protection and now I pay the price for it. My hearing sucks but no My ears do not ring, at least not on the smaller calibers
@@DesertLongRangegotcha, I actually don’t remember wearing ear protection when I was little going hunting but definitely remember the first time shooting a pistol without it and my ears were ringing for hours.
@@TwitcyTrain yep same here, it hurt so bad shooting a 357 magnum it made my ears ring for hours, at that age I definitely did not know any better. I do a lot better with my kids that is for sure.
It would be nice if the magazine fit properly. mine and many others seen on utube have loose fitting magazines. It doesn't load the shells properly. You have to ram and cram it to get it to pick up a shell. With that being said i fitted mine with a vortex crossfire scope. It is pretty accurate though.
Yeah I am surprised by the accuracy of mine with relatively cheap ammo. I might end up upgrading the scope down the road. I ended up getting a supressor for it and can't wait to post the video up of it
Also a good gun, I would like to know what group sizes you get from it. I want to get a Savage 110 Ultralite, I went to the gun store and was checking it out and it was such a good looking gun. Probably get it in 6.5 PRC
Savage is an awesome company, but I sure wish they'd stop using 1:9 twist barrels on all of their .224-caliber rifles. That's just not fast-enough if one wants to use heavier bullets and not varmint loads.
Have you had any problems with the 10 Round Magpul magazine ? My new Ruger with the magpul mag seems to interfere with the bolt like crazy . Closing the bolt on a dummy round I needed way too much force.
So far I have not had any issues with feeding but I noticed the bolt function is not the best so maybe that is the problem. Mine seems to run better when I run the bolt aggressively.
@@DesertLongRange mine functions fine now, it didn't cycle the GI spec dummy rounds. My local gunsmith spent 2 minutes polishing the bolt and taking away any sharp edges on the bolt and not it's 10x smoother. The bolt works great now

@@DesertLongRange glad you can take a joke brother! Will that one shoot .223 only or 5.56 too? Mine says only shoot .223 through it. My mini14 will chew through both no problem.
@@DesertLongRange and to clarify what I meant by dudes not to bright is everyone knows that when shooting a .223 you always should run .50cal bullets through it first to clean out the barrel! 😂
@@ctownstepper4716 I appreciate any and all comments and I will probably still respond. My brother and sister hit me hard with their comments lol mine is only rated to shoot 223

That barrel looks cosmetically unpleasant as well. I like the look of this one and it serves a purpose as well.
I agree however I've been trying to buy another Ruger American 223 with the AR mag and I can't find one to save my life

I have been having a ton of fun with it as well. It shoots super great and is fairly cheap to shoot.
Why a muzzle brake on a .223 calibre. Please enlighten me?
Love seeing the Cabela scope, they are very good. I work the gun counter at my local Cabelas.
They are at a great price point that's for sure. This was the cheaper one, they got some that are a little more expensive and probably more quality
Great video. Love the 223 round
Thanks 👍 Looking forward to doing some more testing with this round.
55 v-max will close those groups right up😎🤙🏼
What kind of accuracy do you get from the v-max?

The new Ruger Gen 2 might solve some of the problems that you are having with this gun. What do you think?
I think I need to get it amd add it to my collection for sure!

Don’t have to literally drop the mag every time you drop the mag.

Let me get Cameron on that list! But you got to show what happens after you blow stuff up. The aftermath!
Yeah you are right, I definitely need to do a little more around that explosion. I did a 2 pounder today that was really fun.
@@DesertLongRange blowing stuff up will always be fun!
Is it loud 💥
Not at all, actually it's one of the more quite guns that I own.
You are not supposed to slam the magazine upwards...it can damage the ejector.
Pretty weak if it can't handle a little love tap don't you think?
I've just subscribed to your channel. Thank you for the video! Which US state do you shoot from? Greetings from Brazil!
Thanks for subscribing, glad to have subscribers from Brazil!!! I am from Arizona, big deserts and warm weather.

P mags fit snug on the gen 2 ones, lancer mags have some wobble seem to be a little slimmer on the top of the mag
I hope I helped you with being subscribed and hitting the like button I hope that helps you to get your suppressor guy thanks for the video

How good is the cabelas scope
It's OK. Holds zero but it does not have a parallax adjustment and sometimes the image is not that clear
