  • We had the chance to review the new Evolv Kronos and Kira climbing shoes. Simply fantastic! If you are looking for a technical all day comfort shoe this might be the one for you. Wear them all day at the crag and long pitch routes for performance and happy feet sends.

Good review! Keep up the good work but the sound quality wasn't the best in this video.

    Hey!
I was just wondering, would you suggest these or the Evolv Defy as a comfortable shoe which would mostly be used for easy climbs in gyms and multipitches? Comfort and durability are more important than performance for me in these shoes since I own a pair of shamans for when performance is what I need.
And if Kronos is the way to go, should I go for street size or size up 0.5 - 1 size?
    Thanks in advance!

      hey Gertjan!
I remember wearing the Defys ages ago when I was looking for an Anasazi replacement. They def. can perform but I feel they are too soft for my preferences now. All the soft portions are not in the right places for me and I, personally, need a little bit more toe stiffness for me to really enjoy a shoe. But that being said, I feel the Kronos has that. They have the stiffness up front for me to create the movement and footwork that works best for me. And if you up size in them they are extremely comfortable. Albeit, not as comfy as the Defys. If you are kicking it in the gym and want a great gym shoe, get the Defys. If you are doing long pitches way below your limit, get the Defys. But if you have smidgen of hesitation about wanting to have a performance shoe at any point during your easy climbing, get the Kronos( side note if you have a LV foot, grab a Kira ). Hopefully this helps and thanks for reaching out!

Seems like an upsized Kronos is exactly what I need, since I'd prefer these shoes to be pretty stiff. Would you suggest going up half a size, or a full size? I will surely test these in the shop, but I find it hard to really judge how shoes fit simply because they aren't worn in yet.

Since I am looking for a stiffer shoe, the Kronos really seems the way to go. Would you suggest upsizing a full size, or would that be too much? I will surely fit them in the shop, but I feel like that won't be representative of the real comfort of the shoe since it won't be worn in yet.

Gertjan Goetynck I wouldn't go a full. I think a normal half would be good. I have a pair of 8 ( Shamans 8.5 ) and I feel the 8.5 would be perfect for a comfy all day shoe.
