Never understand these coaster fanatics looking for airtime and skipping D'Halve Maen (swinging ship). imo You don't get more airtime than on that ride (if you sit in the back seats). I was 12 when Phyton opened in 1981. It was the biggest thing in Europe at the time. I've ridden it 100's of times.
@@CoasterGiant1 Halve Maen was the biggest Pirate ship in the world upon opening, able to seat up to 85 people. It no longer holds this title nowadays, as Meisho Amusement Machines Super Viking (Meisho product) seats 96 people.
@@CoasterGiant1 Then you would probably find it interesting that the actual merry-go-around in the palace is even alot older (though they did change the steamengine to an electric). That one dates back from somewhere in the late 1800, early 1900. One if not the oldest operational merry-go-arounds: "The Vermolen molen" from 1865 also residents in the Efteling but that one is one of the outdoor ones.
About Python, it got retracked a year ago as well but in this instance they didn't just retrack it, but they recalculated the whole coaster while maintaining the impact you spoke about in the front row; It's so much smoother now than before the retrack but it's still a solid coaster.
Excellent vlog Matt! You should be so proud of this one. Your reactions to rides are so brilliant too haha. Can't wait to see part 2 and the rest of your trip!!
Last time I went to Efteling was 2 years ago iirc, went with a group of friends and ofc we went on the piraña, one of our friends was super unlucky tho and was fully soaked when we got off the ride hahaha, never been on Max & Moritz tho, still sad they removed the bobsleigh since it was one of my favorites there
😂 I can imagine if the water jets get you on Pirana it would be a soaker. I have seen a video of the old bobsleigh, I do love that type of coaster, always sad when stuff has to be removed. Thanks for watching ☺️
@CoasterGiant1 we just lost it after we all got off the tubes and really got to see how bad the "damage" was, if the rafts hit you just right you know you won't make it out dry but never have I seen someone get fully soaked, luckily we had towels with us just to be sure, looking forward to the Walibi video
Yeah, i am a frequent flyer there and i was also sad when they removed it. But i get the reason why. They did it because the attraction was so old, and because it was one of the few of its kind it was very hard to do repairs when they needed a new piece for something. So it wasn't working half of the time. So i get it, but still a shame
Glad you had a great time at Efteling 🍄🧚♂️ we had a fantastic time there in August 23 and my son and I got totally drenched on the rapids!! We are hoping to get back there for Christmas this year along with Toverland..another fantastic park! Great vlog, looking forward to part 2 and Toverland 😍

@@CoasterGiant1 hmmm… Out of all attraction types I think I enjoy dark rides the most, so Fata Morgana and Dream Flight are and will always be must-do’s for me. I’m 31 so both rides are super nostalgic to me. Both offer the highest level of escapism, I love them both. BUT I also think Symbolica is going to be a next generation’s classic (the scenes… the animatronics… the music… the trackless carriages… * *chef’s kiss* * 🤌🏻😘). Lots of words to come to the same conclusion as you: it’s way too hard to pick just one! 😂
Slight correction: Python wasn’t re-tracked by Vekoma, but by a Belgian company called CSM. That’s why the new track looks “odd” Also the loopings pull 4.6g’s it’s the strongest positive G’s in the country.
Did I say that 🙈 thanks for the correction. Yeah you can certainly see the difference between the new and old track. Great coaster though! Thanks for watching ☺️
The lifthill and station are the only og parts the rest is the retrack. But the efteling knows its a park favorite and wasnt worked on till the retrack for big maintenance. Before joris there was a other wooden coaster named pegasus. But that coaster became old and wasnt good so they build joris en de draak. but a few years ago they found problems and parts where moving too much. Now it has been fixed with new wood for the sleepers where the track is on and some titan track in the parts that where moving too much.
The droomvlucht is using a very old techniek with wood schaped circels turning around. And with wires to move the muppets arms etc.. Worked there and the simple bud so good teckniek. Love it. People trow money in the water to make a wish. In maintance time i got to see how mutch money is coming out
You are spot on with the system of wooden wheels. However its the Fata Morgana, not the Droomvlucht that operates with the wooden wheels. The money in the fountains goes to charities.
I don't know which walibi you're planning on visiting (if you haven't visited it already at this point), and I don't know if it still exists. But when I went to walibi as a child there was this (entirely) "underground" roller coaster that basically felt like you were riding on the minecarts from the snes game [donkey Kong country], just an abyss below you that felt like it went on forever. Probably wasn't as big of a space as it appeared to be, but because of the darkness it felt like the coaster went into the center of the earth and was built inside a giant cave or something. If I remember correctly, the track was lit by tiny lights all across the track making it appear as though the track was just floating in the darkness. Which was absolutely insane! I remember looking to my left at one point and seeing part of the track some ways away and... Man... For a moment I wasn't sure if I was ever going to see daylight again. 😂 If it still exists, I recommend giving it a try. I don't remember the exact name, but I believe it had [mouse] or [rat] in the name. Maybe some of my fellow dutchies remembers the coaster I'm talking about and can give you the actual name. 😅
@@ninaw3748 You know what... I think you might be right about that! Been so long since I went to any of these places, I must have mixed up the parks. 😅
@@Brittjeeee93 It looks like a fun alternative, but there's way more effects going on on that ride from the looks of it. The one I was thinking of was a bit more basic, in a non-derogatory way. Vogelrock was closed when we visited 😢 but Dreamflight was the first ride we did on day 2 ☺️ I need to book another visit to get Vogelrock. Thanks you watching 👍🏻
If you do not get the story of Fata Morgana, and people often do not get it, then you are clueless of what is going on. Fata Morgana is a trip through the forbidden city of 1001 nights, but the magician takes you there, you think... But at the end of the ride, it was just a dream, a Fata Morgana so to speak.
with symbolica you are invited to an audience with the king and pardoes the jester is up to cause some mischief, baron yes its short but it makes up in themeing and story if you have ever seen the back story of the coasters construction....i miss the park myself i cant wait to get back to the park hopefully in 2025 as i want to sample to new attractions, front and back row on baron are great the coaster i think is very smooth, the flying dutchmen is great and well its smoothish as you say, but efteling is one of my favourite parks

@@CoasterGiant1 Efteling takes care of their rides untill they have no other option. They recently demolished Hansel and Gretel's gingerbread house and are going to rebuild it with new techniques but according to the original blueprints. It was in such a bad shape they had no other choice. It was a bit of an operation since a big pneumatic main is running underneath it that powers much of the fairytale forest's animatronics. They also recently demolished the Spookslot (a haunted house) because they couldn't keep the old animatronics running anymore. It's being replace with the new Dance Macabre ride that will open later this year. Efteling has seen many changes over the years. The teacup ride used to be cannibal themed with cooking pots you could sit in. It played the song Monsieur Cannibale which you can now still hear in the Aquanura water show. Final note: you didn't seem to like Carnaval Festival. It is indeed popular with children and it's themesong is pretty much known by everyone in The Netherlands, it's a real earworm. The ride is based on Carnaval, which is mostly celebrated in the south of The Netherlands. Look up some videos on Carnaval and you'll see the ride is themed as if you are making your way through a Carnaval parade. It's the most important event of the year in the province of North Brabant where the Efteling is located.

They added a lot of new water effects, all the rocks have been replaced (due to their age, ride is from the '80 s) and they have added a couple of extra water shooters. I hope they made the end a little more 'splashy'. We'll see in a few weeks 😮 When the ride is in 'tropical' mode in the summer, the splashes are bigger and just after the bridge there is effectively a hose that shoots out water which will the soak the poor soul that's under it 😂

It’s a shame you had a bad experience with the food. It is recommended to skip the chips (or ‘fries’). At many theme parks this is probably the only thing you can get but at Efteling there are plenty of options. The same goes for Toverland. The others parks have mediocre food at best. Only toverland and Efteling really stand above all parks I have ever been, the worst are probably Disneyland and Walibi. Also, did you ride vogelrok? The indoor coaster
Hi, we really should have researched the food situation 😂 at least I was hungry for the pancakes in the afternoon, they were amazing. We had far better food in the day 2 vlog too. We had stunning food in the Avalon area in Toverland.
The theming is awesome, I just don't really like dive coasters (in general I guess) because after that dive there's not much to them, they're quite lame coasters. It's like they just have some more track to let people recoup from that drop. It really fits Efteling's theming though and since this is not a park that has any real thrill rides it's an okay addition. You visit this park for the theming, not for the thrills, anyway. I'm really looking forward to the new Danse Macabre and the time all constructions throughout the park and parking are finished.

@@CoasterGiant1 I finished the video and it was a nice overview of the park! I may have been a bit too negative in my earlier comment.
I love a swinging ship, in-fact most flat rides 😂 we did that on day 2, I think it’s the biggest swinging ship I’ve ever seen!
@@CoasterGiant1 Halve Maen was the biggest Pirate ship in the world upon opening, able to seat up to 85 people. It no longer holds this title nowadays, as Meisho Amusement Machines Super Viking (Meisho product) seats 96 people.
That carrousel palace was built in 1956. So yeah it's actually old, not just looking old haha. I love they kept it all this time.
I love it when parks preserve and look after their heritage. Thanks for watching ☺️
@@halomaster116 that’s crazy, love it when places look after old stuff
About Python, it got retracked a year ago as well but in this instance they didn't just retrack it, but they recalculated the whole coaster while maintaining the impact you spoke about in the front row; It's so much smoother now than before the retrack but it's still a solid coaster.
Genuinly loved it, did a back row on the second day, think that was even more intense than the front row.
Bad news about how time flies. It was already 6 years ago in 2018. We are getting old :(

If it still exists, I recommend giving it a try.
I don't remember the exact name, but I believe it had [mouse] or [rat] in the name. Maybe some of my fellow dutchies remembers the coaster I'm talking about and can give you the actual name. 😅

It's like they just have some more track to let people recoup from that drop. It really fits Efteling's theming though and since this is not a park that has any real thrill rides it's an okay addition. You visit this park for the theming, not for the thrills, anyway. Quite shocked at that, even watching on my big TV the quality looks far better than a lot of vloggers I watch who film on iPhones etc. I’m happy with the quality. @@CoasterGiant1 I finished the video and it was a nice overview of the park! I may have been a bit too negative in my earlier comment. In some parts of the video, the image quality is pretty good, but others not so much. Colors are not great, the sky often blown out and perhaps bitrate on the low side? Also the dark (inside footage) is pretty bad. A camera that does better (HDR like) processing would get a better result here.
For comparison, find the video on YT titled "Google Pixel 8 Pro 4K Camera Video Samples Day and Night" and compare the colors, sky and dark footage.

@@UnusSedLeo-w5l yeah, I did eat there on day too, not only did the food taste amazing the theming inside was incredible.
And check out Fabula restaurant. The interior / theming is amazing.
Stop calling poffertjes pancakes. It's something completely different
What are they? In terms of taste comparison they taste very similar to pancakes we eat in the uk
@@CoasterGiant1 but they are not pancakes, they are poffertjes
@@CoasterGiant1 Dutch pancakes are big and flat. The thickness is in the middle of a crepe and an american pancake. Add on like apple, raisins, cheese or bacon are backed in with it. Poffertjes are small, puffy because of yeast in the batter and add on is on top of it. Original the batter of poffertjes contain buckwheat instead of regular wheat. But that isn't always the case anymore.
The batter is not quite the same, but mainly it's confusing to call poffertjes pancakes, because we also have pancakes. 😉
@@captainchaos3667 I also had the actual pancakes on day 2 of the visit 😂
@@helenooft9664 every video I watch seems to have a 60 second advert at the start these days
@@CoasterGiant1 For me it is at the beginning and near the end, and it are a lot, so it will be lik on TV, i almost dont watch TV, only the news, and that is all about the adv. when you see a serie for the time ad. 1.50 minutes, you know that the half is for adv. in 1 blok 16 adv. i did count them, to much, i have enough of it.
Een Addblocker helpt , ik heb de extensie "Addblocker for youtube" aan firefox toegevoegd en nu zie ik nooit meer reclame op youtube :) .
