You don’t go to the Efteling for the thrillrides, but the overall experience with the theming, the music, the greenery, the excellent darkrides makes the Efteling a themepark you just want to get back to. Can’t wait until Danse Macabre opens.
Omg same I can't wait either. It seems so close now :D
We have abonnement on Efteling, we can go anytime here if we want, our kids loved it, never bored..
If you come only for thrillrides, this isnt the park for you.. just what @throughthewindowpane said, this is a familypark, music, nonstalgic, theming, everything
This will be the park for you👍🏼
Absolutely true......especially Fata Morgana I remember fondly. But really everything is created with love and attention, and most is in the wonderful atmosphere of Anton Pieck.
@@GoldenNugget777abonnement is subscribtion in het engels😊
The one ride I'm missing in the video and the top comments is Villa Volta, kind of a pretty tame swinging ship kinda thing mounted inside of a haunted house set for a very convincing illusion of a much wilder ride. For me that's a contender for best overall package of theming and ride in the park.
As a Dutch person, It fills me with pride watching you praise this park.
What you have to keep in mind, is that Efteling are NOT thrill ride builders. They are Story Tellers. And it shows.
Yes, there are parks with more exciting rides, but with not much theming. I haven't been to it but apparently Phantasialand in Bruhl, Germany has similar theming.
Papier hier....
@@Ozymandias1Phantasialand is has the best of both worlds. They don't have the highest or longest rides, but they are pretty fast with amazing decors. I passed out twice in one ride in Taron, I've never stepped in a roller coaster ever again.
@@Ozymandias1I have been to phantasialand and efteling in the last two months. It’s a 2.5 hour drive, but it’s definitely worth going at least once! The thrill rides are really good, compact, well themed. There was a villa volta madhouse knockoff, about a bride who is forced marry the bad guy, it was hilariously bad, heheh
ja als je echt spannende achtbanen wilt moet je naar de efteling
Every time when I see tourists enjoying Efteling, it's a bit like watching your favorite soccer team win. You did absolutely nothing for it, but you still feel kinda proud.
50 years ago The Efteling used to be just a very finely styled theme park, fairy tales instead of thrills, everything designed by Anton Pieck who was my mother's drawing teacher in school.
If she enjoyed drawing that must have been a real treat :)
The Fairy Tale Forest is still a significant part of the Efteling and most of the site is preserved in Anton Pieck's style. Over the years some new items were added but the overall fairy atmosphere is still there.
ua-cam.com/video/40ppGVR5nZQ/v-deo.htmlsi=8VLPEqnVGn6Yo7ra
How awesome to have been taught by Anton Pieck!
SERIEUSHEID??? dat is echt heel cool
And everyone clapped.
You do know you missed a lot of the theming from the Flying Dutchman by entering single rider right? The queue is telling the story of the mad captain setting sail on the second Easterday, cursing his ship.
yes!! and it shows the beautiful rooms! i never mind waiting there it’s soo beautiful
@@BjornBjergsen I always find them a bit cramped, making me feel claustrofobic. I wish they'd made them a little bigger or easier to see out.
Being dutch and having visited the Efteling a couple of times, I only now realize that the Python track is supposed to be a snakes skeleton. Somehow never noticed and it makes the track look far more badass.
As someone who lives in walk / bicycle distance of this park... I once thought of this..., but figured it cant be with the looping lol. But this is a THEME park... and i believe it is older then disney land. Started by a local priest who wanted to do something for the kids... As the story goes at-least... I heard somewhere that the Efteling and Disney have a weird friendship/rival bond. Its odd to think that 'The little amusement park in the area' is semi famous.
@@Redisia According to wikipedia, the part of the story of it being started by a priest is correct.
@@apveening i think the efteling is a lot better than disneyland just because if you go during weekdays out of high season you don't even have to wait, disneyland always is high season.
@@Redisia there is a rumor (though never confirmed), that Walt Disney visited the Efteling and got inspired for many things for his Disney parks. Again, it has never been confirmed but I think we can all agree on the fact that the Efteling has nailed the same kind of magic feeling like Disney has as well.
@@frisiidescendant2200 i dont think so. Disney passed away in 1966 and the most of the building in the Efteling is done in the late 60`s and in the 70`s.
Not only the most beautiful, also the park with the friendliest employees. They know how to take care of their guests!
Phantasialand wins that price for me
@@nashwagemakersI agree with you, when it's about Europe. I haven't witnessed many from outside Europe, therefore I can't tell if Phantasialand is the best in the world.
Not for me, not even by a MILE, Efteling beats any park, especially when it comes to help for dis-abled people, the staff is just fantastic in the Efteling!@@nashwagemakers
@@SuperDutchjohn Phantasialand staff in my experience is more friendly, they enaged in fun conversations, were very kind whilst serving and overall had a more friendly look to them. not to say the Efteling employees are unfriendly, for sure top-tier
Must admitt it is a long time ago that I was in Phantasialand and my experience back then was that the staff was pretty grumpy, maybe they polished that thru the years. All I wanted to say is that the staff in The Efteling engages with guests also, but for me where Efteling stands out is how they treat and respect disabled people and children. Nevertheless, it is no contest, and maybe I should visit Phantasialand again soon to make a more honest comparison!@@nashwagemakers
Videos like this one make me proud to be one of the park's employees :)
Your always the best, all the employees in the efteling are always so nice. All of you are doe'ing a grate job
Honestly the employees are amazing. Always super helpful
I've been to many parks. You can be proud. I went there with someone who has a disability. You are all truly the best. You made our day. And the park is maintained so beautiful
heyy same
Hey collega!!!
The Efteling is probably one of the most "finished" parks. You'll have a hard time finding a bare concrete wall or ugly dead end anywhere.
True, in other parks you always find some backlots of ugly spots, not in the Efteling.
@@AlbertWeijers Right now they're doing construction on two different rides and the lots are ugly as hell. But you'd be right any other time.
@@CaptainDCap True, but they can't really help that. They do have nice themed fences around the construction sites though.
only ugly building in the entire park is fabula.... hideous....
I'm just back after 3 days there, loads of construction, new hotel, new scary ride, new stuff outside the entrance, so they're not finished, think Theme Parks need to keep adding new stuff to keep interested, great park though, 2nd time there and loved it, kids too
When Disneypark Paris was being made the builders actually went to this park to get inspiration on how to do a fantasy european amusement park. Or at least that is what I heard
I don't know your schedule, however during winter the park transforms into "Winter Efteling". And especially when its still a bit dark or starting to turn dark, its absolutely magical. They also have winter themed attractions during that time. Can highly recommend.
don't forget about the hat they put on the Vogel Rock
As a park pass holder its always refreshing to see the park trough the eyes of first time visitors. For me it feels so "normal" to walk there, but it never loses its magic
For me the Efteling has an experience that i havent found anywhere else. The design, the environment, the stories, the rides and rollercoasters all contribute to the overall experience which i just love to get back to any time.
Everytime i see an international channel post a video about the efteling i scream inside. I love love love seeing it getting the international recognition it deserved. Extremely proud to say i work there, genuinely my favourite place. Glad you enjoyed it!
Good of you to emphasize on the thematic stuff, most of the rides are meant for families to enjoy. This also goes for the historic theme park that all Dutch people grew up with for like 70 years now. The Efteling is Dutch heritage.
4:12 the irregular intervals of these boats make this ride so much fun. Sometimes there's so many that they get stuck for a while and they pile up until the force breaks them free again.
When I went to Efteling on a school trip, our boats got stuck on the rotating poles for about 25 minutes. Took the staff a while to start wondering where all the boats had gone. They ended up pulling one of the front boats free with a large winch or something.
The park is one of the oldest still open theme parks in the world: the Efteling nature park opened on May 11, 1951. On May 31, 1952, the Fairytale Forest also opened.
Actually the sport and nature park Efteling opened in the late 1920's or early 1930's.
22:17 Efteling was started in the 1920's as a nature park, and it still is. Only a certain percentage of their grounds can be built upon.
I believe I saw 21% as the max
4:43 Good pronunciation on Joris en de Draak, I'm impressed.
Literally every time I'm in line for a ride I'm dancing, Efteling music slaps
As a person who lives at the Efteling's doorstep, one tends to forget how beautiful that place actually is.
The coaster that goes over the water is called The Flying Dutchman in English.
Back in the day I used my season pass to go in after school, go on a few rides and have a meatball sandwich from Grootmoeder's Keuken. Sadly, that place closed down, but a lot more just as good food stands opened up.
I'm glad you had fun. As you leave our little town, let me bid you goodbye in our special way.
Houdoe! (It's our slang for Keep well!)
You can still get a ‘Broodje Saté’ from the same place! It has a different name now though.
Its Disney feel is not a coincidence. The story is that Walt Disney visited Efteling and modeled his parks after Efteling in terms of theming and storytelling. Efteling is a direct inspirator for the Disney parks.
Efteling barely had any of its modern theming before Disney died in the early sixties. Fairy-Tale forest may have inspired him, but other than that there wasn't much there.
@CaptainDCap it's the fairytale theming from the 50s that led to the current theming. Anton Pieck, who designed the fairytale forest, did extensive art direction that is still the main focus for the theming of the park. Even at that time it was world famous. So even though the current park is separate from Disney, the inspiration is the same.
An urban myth that refuses to die. He never visited Efteling, even though he was in the Netherlands when the park had already its early stages of the Fairy Tale Forest.
It is true that imagineers visit Efteling every now and then for inspiration
I'm sure someone said it, but you miss out if you just do the rides. The old part with the animatronics and fairy tale theme is not only a nostalgia trip for most locals, but also just something to see. Kids can easily spend a day there while the adults sneak off to the thrill rides.
The peacock actually has a name and is quite famous....his name is JEROEN ! Great video guys. I grew up with the Efteling, living nearby. It is a wonderful place ❤
live love laugh jeroen
even I didnt know this and im Dutch myself and went to the park so many times
It's a beautiful parc, but i prefer Europapark and Phantasialand.
Great video, thanks.
It always suprise me how clean and well maintained the Efteling is. I’ve been in a lot off parks. It looks like because the Efteling gives nature more room and lesser stone and tarmac pavement it looks more friendly
I think in the original proposal for the park the Efteling themselves put that they can only build stuff on I believe 25% of the ground they own
They also have very extensive climate plans and I believe they want to be fully climate neutral by 2025 and climate positive in 2032
@@kop-gaming6413 I don't know the exact % but you are right, they are requirement to have a significant amount of trees and plants covered area in the park. And honestly has much as a headache it must be for expansion, the park is better for it.
As a Dutchie I haven't been there that much, but every time I was there, as a kid or as the grown up with my own son now, it's always special. It never ceases to amaze me.
I always wanted to go to Efteling as a kid, now as an adult it's on my bucket list!
Same here 👀
De Efteling is themed with (famous) fairytales, regional legends and classic saga's.
The Python rollercoaster was initially built in the late seventies and when it was worn out, the park management decided to rebuild it in accordance with the original design, as it was still incredible popular. And as it was built with modern design and fabrication techniques, it is easily explainable why the ride is so smooth.
By the way, you've missed out one of the coolest attractions; there's a haunted house called Villa Volta. Although it is not a rollercoaster, you will get out thrilled nauseous for sure when you visit it for the first time. And again, this is also fitted with an incredible theme.
the music is so nostalgic and so beautiful!! really love the park
Its our favorite parc we go there every year and it never gets old. Great atmosphere
The Efteling was the best thing ever to go to as a kid, you always felt like you were really in the fairy tale yourself 😆
I've been to the efteling one time for two days when you stay there you have 1 hour without other guests, so we went 9 times with the Baron 1898 the staff was incredible. If no one was coming, they repeated the ride. Great experience by far.
Hearing you butcher Dutch pronounciations is so funny I love it
We from the Netherlands are quite proud of this park. I visit once a year or 3 years.
I love the Efteling, came there as a kid, later with my kids and maybe someday with grandkids, but im so happy every time in the Efteling!!
as an efteling fan that goes monthly, im so proud to be able to go here because videos like this make me realize its a really special place💚
The name off the Peacock ie Jeroen
@@antoinevanmuilekom2812 i know lmao
Heb je toevallig autisme?
It's so great to see someone who has so ridden so many coasters enjoy the theme park of my childhood. Through primary school, me and my family went there almost every year. There was just so much to it, even though I wasn't physically or mentally ready for the big coasters most of that time. You enjoying this made me very happy.😄
Im 34 and just got an subscription because the Efteling makes me feel so happy and joyful. I always feel like a kid and forget about real life for a day. I need this as an adult to escape reality 😂 So much love for this park ❤
Good to see efteling still manages to amaze people.
I have to go again soon, been a couple of years since i been there. Probably before covid.
Used to love going their when i was young, such an amazing place.
I say get a niece or nephew and visit again. Did so after 20 years of not having been there and it hits right in the nostalgia
Phyton has actually 2 lifthill settings. Fast if they ride with 1 vehicle and slow if they ride with 2!
Best park ever.. been going there every year since i was 8 years old... early 80ties!!
You could go to The Efteling and not go on any rides and you'll still have a amazing time.
It's atmosphere is unmatched.
22:26 That's "Jeroen", one of the most famous animals in the Efteling.
23:30 Not really, it looks like the old design but it is acutally from BHS München with gondola's from Translift/Siemens (after the bankrupty of CPM) Really interesting system.
as someone that lives a 25 minute car ride from this park im so happy to hear that it blows the minds of everyone that visits the netherlands :D
a very unique park in the world and a must for themed park fans
This park is almost in my backyard (3 km away). When I was a kid we used to go there everyday, taking multiple rides in the Python, etc… In the past decennia is has grown to this amazing park, where I went with my kids. And where I will go very often with future grandchildren. It is great to have this fantastic park so nearby.
I'm so jealous of you. I'd for sure get a season pass if I lived close by. We go there every two years and stay for three days. It's a great trip every time.
We really look forward to an eventual visit there.
I enjoy Droomvlucht more than Symbolica! Glad you've enjoyed the park as much as I do ❤
Great video. Have you been to Droomvlucht? Droomvlucht and Fata Morgana are my favorite dark rides in Efteling. In Droomvlucht (dream flight) you sit in a cart underneath a track and you fly through an enchanted forest, with fairies, etc. It's so beautiful. Fata Morgana is old, but still a fun dark ride, in a boat. Lots to see. And some parts might be scary for some young kids. Love the music for Fata Morgana too.
Goes to Max and Moritz, walks in the opposite direction. I love seeing this with new people visiting the Efteling they just wander around and explore. As a weekly visitor it’s amazing to see how you enjoyed the Park like we do.
I went here yesterday for like the tenth time because I live in the netherlands. But the Efteling is an entire experience and there’s nothing quite like it
I always love to see videos of foreigners visiting our beautiful Efteling haha, even though i've been to this park countless of times
super fun video! love the vibe of you guys. Love efteling forever
I love your positivity and yes, Efteling is a great park. Quite expensive nowadays, but still kinda worth it I guess. And also love that you called the Pagode a must-do, bc I always skip that one hahah
You missed the best parts of the Efteling. (Coasters are great family fun but not the most exciting). Lovely shots, great quality video. 👍 Top notch.
Glad you enjoyed the amusement 😉👍🏻
This Is Absolutely a Fantasy Island I also think it's very very beautiful Disneyland doesn't compare with this🎉🎉
The most beautifull from the netherlands for sure! 🇳🇱
The entrance has its own name: The house of the 5 senses. Atleast Rok the bird was nice enough to provide shelter under his wings.😂 He does have a mention in the Guiness book of records as being the largest bird (30'18" tall with a wingspan of 72'18").😉
It really is one if the most stunning parks 🥰
Nice video. Love the side by side videos of Joris en de Draak race / wooden coaster 😍🐲
Within a few months there will be a new Ghost Ride that will be amazing! When you get back to Holland you have to try it. I follow everything about this ride, from the story and the new building mechanics..it will be mindblowing! (dont let yourself be spoiled online!)
I've lived like 10 kilometers away from The Efteling most of my life. It's am amazing park. Best I have ever seen.
Did you also go in Villa Volta? One of my favorites, I love the tricks the ride plays on your mind, love it, and droomvlucht (dreamflight). I have a subscription to this park, I love about a 10 minute busdrive from it. I know I'm a lucky girl😊
De vliegende Hollander= The flying Dutchman😉.
Hope you didn't mis out on the watershow, because thats an awsome show! And the rest of the rides😊. Come back next year! They are opening a new haunted house. The old one you can find on you tube.
This was so fun to watch! Been to Efteling maaany times since I was little and I miss it already even though I've been there 2 years ago most recently 😆 Thank you for this video!
Even though i am not a little kid anymore (i am a teen) i still enjoy the park, not because of the rides. The rides are not scary to my meaning, but the vibes and music are soo good. Its not even because the park is layed out nice but As a kid it made the park feel magical, what it is supposed to be. I also love some of the food there (not everything, but a lot) and how some rides are designed with music, lights and motor driven things. Although sometimes some rides have problems "storingen" i enjoy the vibes and the pretty friendly employees, when i got stuck in a ride because of a storing, the employees were friendly and helped everyone get out and calmed everyone
naar mijn mening = in my opinion.
to my meaning translates to something like "voor mijn betekenis" which doesn't really make sense in my opinion.
Bedankt voor je nietszeggende mening, @@daan7004. Ook geen enkele toevoeging op iets wat er bedoeld word. Ook nog zeiken over d of t zekers? (bewwerkttt waistt almelan niet)
Efteling is my favorite park here in the Netherlands. It's not really for the thrillseekers, you don't usually go there just for the coasters (though I do think those are great). The dark rides are probably the most amazing thing of the park in my opinion. And then of course there's the Fairytale Forest and Land van Laaf. You have to experience those at some point if you ever return there.
In my opinion Efteling has something for everyone. I was six when I first went there, and I enjoyed it just as much as I do now, 30 years later.
The entrance to the park is actually called 'the House of the Five Senses'
There's some very strict rules on where they can and cannot build in order to preserve nature and wildlife, which is why the park has a very natural feel to it. In my opinion it adds to the fairytale vibes, and the whole feeling of mysticism.
Also, if there's one ride I would still recommend, if you haven't done it already: Villa Volta. It's a Vekoma madhouse with great theming and the music is something that'll stick in your head throughout the day.
0:26 That handshake was amazing 😂
I usually don't really enjoy theme park videos, even about the Efteling (been there MANY times as a teen, had a season pass and live within biking distance), but you had some great shots! Had me engaged for the full video 😁
I live in Utrecht, on the final day of my season pass I decided that I would visit Efteling one more time without spending any money. I cycled from utrecht to efteling, which was doable (~ 5 hours) but the ride back was much tougher! No ferries at night, so you have to go around, and of course my phone was dead. I had to recharge and take a nap on a bench near Woerden, but I made it! It was an awesome challenge!
@@BartvG88 dang, that's commitment 😅 For me it was only about 40 minutes from Tilburg 😂
I use this magical place for sport. Make a 40 min bike ride to efteling, make a long walk, and again a 40 min bike ride back home. Twice a week. So that's 28 km of bike riding and during my break with is a 5 km 'efteling walk', i do a few coasters. Efteling for me is a Anti depression medicine. It's fantastic!
As others have also pointed out. What sets the Efteling apart is the immersion/theming, you really feel like you step into another world.
After visiting close to 40 years (gulp) now I do say that while they are doing a fantastic job of improving the park,it feels like they need an actual expansion of the ground and invest in some truly thrilling coasters and rides to not only have the immersion but to also get that thrill factor that would put it over the top.
That said, best themepark I have ever been to and can't wait until I go back since it my last visit was cut short.
Being Dutch, very fun video to see. Glad you liked it!
Im dutch myself and im realy suprised to see how english perplex or others languages also enjoy the park and make video's off it but you should see at night there are HUNDREDS off tiny lights attached to the mail entrance and if you luck enoug to stay untill new year or the middle off the night idk when anymore they will shoot fireworks! I've been around 7 to 8 times al ready
Fun fact about the entrance is that its the biggest building with a straw roof
The retract on Python is amazing especially since it has been a historic coaster. It was the first attraction of its sort in the nation and even caused some controversie because of the unknown it was to the dutch public.
If I remember correctly, the Python was the largest rollercoaster in Europe at the time of its birth. It stays my favorite because of its sentimental value to me and it is still a great ride!!
@@StatelineMusic The creative founder of Efteling, Anton Pieck, hated the Python and he allowed it only if it was build far away from the "sprookjesbos" the fairytale forest, which still is the heart of Efteling. That's why it's at the other end of the park. The Python is not really themed, after that they decided every thrill ride should be themed.
😅 As a teacher we went every year on a school trip to the Efteling. After 20 years of experiencing the park, I know every tune of the attraction. My colleagues drove me crazy every year. Somebody somewhere started the tune from "carnival" and I was done for the day/week. The tune sticks in your brain like nothing ever!!
If you wanna see all of Efteling, you need 2 days!
went today,.... and i still love it, coming to the Efteling every time.
I understand you focus on coasters. But the park is so much more than that. It has a great history and many of the original rides ate still there.
My favorite theme park for sure.
The Efteling is really amazing i have grown up with it and its so magicall
and you know what is really cool? the entrance, like what you are so shocked by is even part of the efteling lore 😊
When I was a kid, my dad used to work for DHL. DHL would rent out a part of the park around Christmas and we’d celebrate there. It was awesome.
Edit: you can get a little storybook made with your own names, in the enchanted forest :). Amazing for kids.
Fun fact, de Efteling is where Walt Disney got his inspiration. Without the Efteling there would be no Disney
Fun myth you mean 😂
Going 27th of this month cant wait looks fun 🎉😊
Welcome to the Netherlands! Glad you enjoyed and had a 'gezellige' time over here. What happened with symbolica footage? Suddenly cut to the coffee?
So for the dark rides like Symbolica, I didn’t want to film the whole ride. But I had intended to show bits of it, but forgot to film 😅
Im from Holland and the Efteling is indeed one of the nicer Parks in Europe, Fantasialand, Europapark, Disney Paris are also nice, btw i would also recommend Energylandia in Poland
I been myself at least 10 times . I totally agree it's absolutely fantastic
Nice video of a regular theme park in the Netherlands. Very positive! Now go visit all the others.
it is certainly one of the most beautiful and unique parker in the world. for me, Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen is even more beautiful and special, but you cannot completely compare these parks
I grew up 20 km away from here.Let's say my childhood was awesome!
You left to soon man! The water show is amasing!! Its the third largest in the world
Interesting to hear the Python commentary, because it always used to be hella rocky. Nice video.
For food try the 'poffertjes' next time :) I love the Efteling best for the themes throughout the park, you walk through a fairytale instead of going from ride to ride. Great video!
Efteling is gorgeous.
this park was my my entire childhood
The peackocks are great in winter.
Efteling fiull of snow, a large bon fire and a hot drinks stand at every crossroad. And for some reason 3 peacoks hanging out around one of the fire and occasionally playing with the snow. It's bloody surreal
Your Python ride was rather nice to see, first time a video captures just how smooth that thing has become after the rebuild. The old Python was a rather rough ride.
Also nice to see you sample some of the food. The food at Efteling is generally pretty good and interesting, and they don't sock you on the price like a lot of other parks do.
we come here twice a year, im 45 now, never boring, we went 2 weeks ago after the show of caro, it was free from 8-10 pm, no people anymore and did like 12 rides in 2 hours, perfection, you skipped the whole "sprookjesbos" "festival carnaval" and "volk van laaf" and many other tings but time goes quick
