That would be cool, but it also depends on the look you're going for. If you're looking for a welded in the field look then yes, you would want a different colour to the welding. But, it seems Pete went for an aesthetic that means that the Kin keep and repaint their repaired armour. Your idea would look really cool though.
I love your conversions. Considering that GW has only released one box of Votann so far, it makes conversions even more important to get different models. It's actually quite surprising they didn't release several other models to increase variety in the Votann armies.
@@PeteTheWargamer Maybe some chaos corrupted kin inspired by both Fantasy's Chaos Dwarfs and early chaos squat models. Could make for a rather interesting conversion. Regardless, lovely video and I look forward to whatever you have in store for the Leagues.
I really like the welding effect. I'm looking forward to eventually making my own league but intending on leaning more into the old silica xenos Demiurg concept.
That was a great colour scheme. Glowing blue, ice axe with the more military style green is a nice balance between grounded grimdark and fantastical elements. Well done!
Cool video BTW. I really like the welds. I don't know if Pete the Wargamer will see this but I had an idea that involves taking characters, maybe the models too, from the Old World setting and converting them into 40k or AoS. Particularly characters who aren't around any more. I don't have the conversion skills to accomplish this, yet, so I offer the idea to Pete.
I hadn't given the Votann a single look because of HH2.0 taking up all of my hobby time. But when the WarCom article dropped I scrolled through and was immediately hooked by your champion. I almost get a bit of Master Chief nostalgia, amazing work! If I ever get the urge to start a Votann army I'll have to go URSR.
I never knew about micro sol. I have always had a hell of a time getting the decals to look smooth on space marine shoulders, so much so I stopped but you shown me the light
I woud like it if you can kitbash an killteam for the Void scions. Realy liked this mini. Nice Video I realy liked the redish shade in the Face of the mini in this video
Haven’t even watched yet but I saw the notification come up whilst I was at a post christening meal and had to immediately comment to state that I’ve been SO looking forward to you take on the LoV.
Awesome video, love the colours and how you got the blade stunning. Loads of tips to help me on my journey, hopefully you'll do a mech orc or a stormcast one day .
@@PeteTheWargamer honestly please do. I have been talking about this since the moments I have seen them. The big guns and hunchback just feel like they were made for it. And I would gladly appreciate the master himself throwing some together 😉
Its nice to see how a little bit of battle damage and a less sterile color scheme makes the model feel much more like it fits in the 40k universe. I'm not a fan of the White and blue green colors of the rest of the Votann legions, and how clean and perfect the models are. I know that can be fixed in the modeling stages, but it doesn't quite help them when displayed by GW. They feel like they just don't quite fit. However, Pete as usual has done quite a good job! good on you man. ^^
Leagues of HASHUT That's the first idea that came to mind 👹👹👹 And I believe, that if anybody can pull this off, it's you. Great video as always. Really enjoyed watching it ☺️👍
Awesome video and I hope you make some more LoV models. It would also be cool to see some more scratch building of bigger models like a war hound Titan or knight tyrant.
Great job as always Pete :) I'd be interested in seeing a League that is the Votann equivalent for the Black Templars it might be a cool idea of a crusading band of Votann
Dont know how it would fit in their codex but I'd like to see these big armed squats with like some sort of "cord beard" like different pieces of braided wire coming from the chin of their armor or helmet.
Fantastic video, Pete, great conversion and paint job, I have a weird idea for a conversion that might interest you. I remember one of your videos involving converting a primaris black templar using a body from a stormcast eternal sequitor and it got me thinking, what would it look like if a space marine somehow got teleported into the mortal realms and ended up becoming a stormcast? What would their armour and weapons look like and what sort of battlefield role would they take? I would love to see your take on this.
Just remember that THEY'RE "THE KIN." "SQUAT" IS A SLUR. Never call a Kin a "Squat" if you don't want your skull turned into pink mist from a blow courtesy of a Mass-Hammer.
It doesn’t make sense to me narratively that’s the field repairs would be the more decorative pieces of armor? Like I’d swap which pauldron was just grey for instance so the more utilitarian one is the repair. Also maybe throw a gloss varnish on the weld lines.
Check out a video by Night Shift. He makes a Russian Ball tank model (he's a historical model maker) and he does awesome welding beads! He uses milliput and made his own little tool to do it! Great conversion as always!!

I see the Tyranids aren't the only ones cutting squats up
😂
Ouch!
"Reports of our devouring were greatly exaggerated!"
Nice
Bro😳
I imagine these models are a godsend to Space Wolf players. "Wait, Norse sci-fi, and no bloody wolves everywhere?!"
Most definitely, they are easily going to find their way into non LOV collectors bits boxes
@@PeteTheWargamer out of curiosity, what scale are the heads? I can imagine using them as space wolf alternates
Nice job, but maybe if welds would be different color then the "new" parts they would stand-out more, emphasizing the repair aspect.
Alternating blue and purple contrast on the weld would look good, the metal changes colour when it heats up.
@@tomitoropainen2765 blue, purple, bronze, gold and silver prolly

Theres the Necromunda guys for what thats worth
I still am going to make my leagues army 100% Deep Rock Galactic, themed
Rock and Stone!
This is the way
ROCK AND STONE, BROTHER
Well thats plenty of amazing color themes to choose from.
For Karl!
Did I hear a rock and stone?
Your paint work continues to grow in quality. This looks fantastic :D
Great video! Would love to see more leagues!
Thanks for the feedback, I'll get to thinking how to tackle them 🙂

I’m very new to Warhammer in general, but this faction/hero is one of my favorites that you’ve done!!! I need to do some more research on these guys!!
I like when you add the painting process to your videos... he looks beast mode for sure! Thanks for sharing bro!
Nice work! Looks really good with the green standing out against the neutral colors of the base.
Love the ice effect on the axe it's gorgeous
The technical aspects of this hobby never cease to amaze me
Great work Pete
The base reversal was a great idea. Totally gonna steal that
I like the way you included Soviet era aesthetics. :)

Delightful! Would love to see you tackle the Ymir.
Great video, missed seeing the notification for a new kitbash... hope all is well in your world!
I would love to see your take on the Anointed
Always a pleasure to see your work! I’d love to see your own take on the leagues
My word this is terrific.
Even added extra Handy Storage Bits 👍
Naturally!

Inspiration is always the intention!

Squats make great space rats and you can't tell me otherwise

Leagues of Votann are a mix of classic squats and the demiurg. I wish they'd just made them into squats.
Fantastic job. looks amazing
Once I'm finished painting my Knight Valiant, this will definitely be the first army I buy.

Night Shift has an absurd amount of weld and cast metal modeling/painting on his channel. Thats where I learned to do mine
You should do a video displaying all your kitbashed space marines
Are you going to be continuing the Horus Heresy kitbashing series?
Yep, that's the plan. There are a few more vids planned out first but I will be returning to them.
COULD YOU DO CHAOS SQUATS!!! That is all. Thank You.
Couple pouches and a different head? Thats it?
A space dwarf without a beard?! This is going in the Book.
Cause you do some more tau? I’m looking for something to set my units apart from each other and your conversion and kit bashes are amazing
i keep thinking about doing a squad of khorne berserker votann once the world eaters also release.

It doesn’t make sense to me narratively that’s the field repairs would be the more decorative pieces of armor? Like I’d swap which pauldron was just grey for instance so the more utilitarian one is the repair.
Also maybe throw a gloss varnish on the weld lines.
Very minor detail that I would have added: green/blue/purple wash around the welding to show that the metal was tempered
