No matter what you think of the new Bloc Party you have to admit Kele is sounding the best he's ever sang (positive tension)
those harmonies during the chorus give it a whole new meaning

Nobody will ever play drums as well as Matt Tong. He is one of my favorite drummers, and just had a great style that's hard to replace.

I died a little when the crowd didn't participate in Positive Tension. I wonder how many people in the crowd knew the lyrics.... Also the "run run run" didn't sound good at all and I miss the "success, success, success, success is over." Still love Bloc Party even though they aren't as good as they used to be.

Positive tension was and always will be Matt Tong's song, the recording of that is a drumming masterclass from him. Complete balance of control, power and speed. Drums are essentially the lead insturment in that piece and i am afraid Lousie just isn't quite as good.

Im in new zealand. Sux that the american mainstream shit influences alot of our culture. Luckly I heard banquet in 05 went and bought silent alarm then few yrars later a weekend in the city. Both awesome albums:) haven't heard to much of the newer bloc party. Must say I miss matt tongs drumming .:( would love to see these guys live:) peace and keep on rocken the good tunes.jumpers for goal posts:)lol

David Garcia loads of people gave a damn about the old bass player. He was mint.
I found that Gordon's deep monotone vocals were a great counterpoint to Kele's wailings. Not many songs made use of them. Clearest example that comes to mind is 'The Marshals Are Dead' - lots of call-and-response vocals a'la Gang Of Four, and he gets a whole bridge to himself.

Am I the only one to think that Bloc Party sounds now quite different, firstly it's good, and kele developed very well his technical voice on set. Not bad! Continue, and the last LP is very good as well. Just different.
Different is not always good. Sparta and The Mars Volta are sounding very different compared to At the drive In and yeah, its because they split and did something new. Russel and Kele use the Bloc Party name for theire new experiment and left Gordon and Matt out of it. This is not good for Bloc Party fans, because it does not sound like the Bloc Party sound we used to, it lacks the energy.
@@burnbobquist8999 Nah, fans don't matter... Not being seriously, but this could taste the character of them, plus they could enjoy this or listening the old versions, if they don't like the new Bloc Party.

Not hating on the drummer in any way, I've seen other performances and the drums sound great, but in this one they're a little bit off. Just don't sound loud enough in a way
that's the person who mixed the performance's fault, not the drummer's. I see what you mean though, not heavy enough! :D

You are quite wrong, the drummer is good, but Matt was just plain great. The mix was okay, but she is just not Matt. Same with the bass, Gordon was amazing, the new one is just... well mehish. @@malone.j293

Bloc Party ohne Gordon und Matt sind einfach nicht mehr Bloc Party. Russel und Kele hätten einfach eine neue Band aufmachen sollen wie es damals Blink oder At the Drive In getan haben. So hat niemand was von der Band.
