It's common to talk about "talent" when it comes to music. But how much difference does talent really make?
Can you have a talent for mixing? What would that look like, and how would you know if you had that talent... or if you're totally hopeless?
Spoiler alert: Today I'll argue that talent exists, but that it is overrated. In fact, it can even hold you back!
This week I'll talk about talent and how it applies to music production and mixing-and what you need instead.

Need to write before i forget so forgive me if i will write bluntly and out of memory of what you said cause i paused the video.
Justin you say in a nutshell "a Robot engineer that still needs a Human Curator for the quality of the output“.
Yes ,,, but not if the Robot reaches a level of „quality" that is beyond doubt and does not need curating anymore.
Then there could be an automated „curator robot“ that will take the music from the "engineer robot" and put it out on the market based on algorithms that tell it what is better suited for consumption. Music tailored to the habbits and wishes of the audience. No crazy experiments. No funny business.
Your theory is based on a very Human way of thinking as in „We need Humans in the creative sector“ when A.I even now in its baby crib level can produce pretty „listenable“ music just from a quick description and some random words for lyrics. What will happen when we couple it to Quantum computers?
The advancements will probably be beyond anything we can imagine now. A logarithmic progression.
For starters i can see already uses for documentaries , sit coms etc using A.I for the music creation instead of using a composer. Much cheaper and no copyright etc.
. Also elevator music will be completely generic and automatically created because someone one day will say „its good enough“ and it will take its way.
Maybe each elevator and every shopping mall will have real time generated, ever changing music
    .
Most arguments i hear from friends and people around me are based on a romantic view of „we humans stick together“ which is like the biggest proof that it has already begun and is further that anyone realizes already .
What if what we create is not that hard to replicate in the first place? What if i feed an A.I 20 songs of mine and it decodes what makes my music „my“ music? If it then is capable of spitting out endless output of new „my“ music who am i even competing against and who is going to go to „concerts of my favorite artist“ as Gregg Lehrman is foreseeing ? Maybe artists like Taylor Swift and similar will still have a career but i find people overestimate what we are creating.
The only thing we have a head start with is the emotional dimension. Who knows how long

AI will not only take money away from musicians but it will also have a big impact on the music software and hardware industry. A lot of musicians will get a lower paycheck so they have less money to spend on music software and equipment. AI will be a huge the quality of songs is getting better and better and how can you compete against one of your song and 1000 ai songs which are made in the same time?

I agree about musicianship surviving AI in a bubble, but it’s hard to arrive at that conclusion when looking at the totality. AI will affect play-listing, streaming revenue, A&R + discovery, artist development (already mostly non existent these days), record deals, touring placements, and many other aspects of the industry that allow artists to exist. Just being able to make good music hasn’t been enough for a long time now, and nothing mentioned here reads to me as helping people make a living off music. Just furthering the “hobbificafion” of professional (or semi-pro) quality music production.

Process of surviving isn't meant to be easy - globally at all levels we can witness this trend of "hobbification" of living our lives

Great interview, Gregg is awesome . I am a daily user and fan of all things output . If you have never heard the real snake jazz, look up rick n morty snake jazz 😂 made me laugh. To anyone watching this, I def suggest downloading each pack and not judging it by the sample that’s generated. The downloaded packs have sooooooo many more amazing sounds

AI is such a clusterfuck - already you can hear the cookiecutter trash mainstreaming , and its only dowhill from here - we will- never , ever again - be able to know if an "Artpiece" being a song or a painting/photography is human made , machine- og half`n half - - besides the jobinflation .... it just suck´s nomatter how you slice it - and anyone trying to give you the usual "We cant stop it anyway - join or get left behind" is just not a friend of mine - they can take ANY hike - just keep away from ME , and take your slick hair and youre "Fab Future" with you on the way out !

I once had an idea like that music and in general a.i generated music should have a „watermark“ of some kind , defined by law , that will
beyond doubt show „this is a.i and the other one is human made“ if that makes sense.
Otherwise who is going to proof that the next Beyonce track is really her ? etc etc . Don`t know if my idea makes sense but something like this
