I have been driving for Lyft and Uber since Jan2024, and see this type of reckless driving every single day. I drove by this accident while fire department arrived. Criminal charges should be brought against the Mercedes driver. When will the city do something about this?

You drive at the speed of traffic, if you are to fast or too slow you are a problem. Get into the lane you need a mile before you need it also helps avoid many of these issues as well.

Changing a tire is so dangerous on a LA freeway. Continuing to the next exit on the shoulder might permanently damage your tire but it might save your life. I’ve noticed that worn tires are lot more susceptible to flats. Things that can puncture tires tend to end up at the side of the road. So taking corners tightly puts your tires in contact with more of it and a flat is more likely.
Two years in prison and 5 years driving license suspension for the idiot behind the wheel of the Mercedes. Plus he/she/whatever pays for a new SUV to his victim plus all medical expenses. Only like this he/she/whatever will learn a lesson and never ever drive like that again.

Things happen for a reason. Unfortunately that SUV got the force of the crash and a totalled car they may not be able to afford to replace but he definitely saved that other person from being killed and thankfully he himself did not suffer life changing injuries.
I'm not sure what the big deal is, this happens on the L.A. freeways 24/7. Every couple of minutes someone flies past you at 100+ mph. And then the CHP pulls you over because he thinks he saw you using a cellphone. WTF?

You hit a nail on the head that nobody is considering, they are assuming the people on the roads all have a license yet the roads are infact filling up with unlicensed drivers, many of which never even opened a drivers handbook, and police have given up dealing with them since if they take away the cars those behind the wheel are behind the wheel with a another one the next day and they never pay the tickets so find it easier to wait till they kill someone so they have a reason to lock them up where they can't be back on the street before the ink dries and then a judge can then keep them behind bars till after the trial, and possible deportation.

Speed isn't necessarily the problem. The way you drive is the problem. The faster you drive the. Ore space you need in front of you to stop. And if you're constantly shifting lanes, you need to slow down and still keep 4-6 seconds stopping distance behind people. And you shouldn't be driving faster from the people around you.

This is a typical day on my expressway. It is not just the speeding, which is dangerous enough, but constant sudden lane changes when the whim strikes.
I usually go between 90-100 daily because I mainly drive late at night, but if I drive during the day, I'm always perplexed when drivers do this in medium and heavy traffic.
I seen a similar video just like this one. Guy in a pick up truck tries to pass on the shoulder and ends up running head on into a guardrail. Being Impatient and driving is like oil and water.

Two problems here. 1: There aren't any " do-overs " in the real world. 2: There is no reason to believe the Mercedes driver would do anything differently, he had that opportunity the first time around. I see Tesla drivers driving like this constantly on the 14, often a white one around the same time on weekdays. Then, one day, I saw a white Tesla involved in a 6-car accident. I doubt the driver survived.

It's not speeding that caused the accident. It's illegal passing on right and bad driver. This wouldn't be a problem is nobody was in the left lane or if it was going faster as it should. Completely avoidable accident by law enforcement not giving enough tickets to slow drivers in left lane. Everyone is completely used to putting on cruise in left lane and forgetting where they are.

I hate driving on the freeways! I don't understand why there are so many people driving 100 MPH in heavy traffic. That's foolish and dangerous.
Amusing. The guy being interviewed believes the Mercedes driver would do things differently if possible. Two problems here. 1: There aren't any " do-overs " in the real world. 2: There is no reason to believe the Mercedes driver would do anything differently, he had that opportunity the first time around. Distracted and/ or selfish driving is an every day occurrence across the U.S. This isn't mere coincidence, it's caused by self absorbed ass clowns.

I see Tesla drivers driving like this constantly on the 14, often a white one around the same time on weekdays. Then, one day, I saw a white Tesla involved in a 6-car accident. I doubt the driver survived.
Teslas are built like tanks so it's those in the other cars that die while those in the tesla are saying wait did we bump into something laying in the road.

It's not speeding that caused the accident. It's illegal passing on right and bad driver. This wouldn't be a problem is nobody was in the left lane or if it was going faster as it should. Completely avoidable accident by law enforcement not giving enough tickets to slow drivers in left lane. Everyone is completely used to putting on cruise in left lane and forgetting where they are.
