Alvin was on at The Club Fiesta at Norton for a week back in the 70's when i worked there . He sent all the female staff a red rose with an autographed gift card & the male staff all got a pint of beer paid for . I still have the card 50 yrs later
I was there that night. He came over to where I was sitting (with my Alvin look a like boyfriend) after singing at me, tore the collar off his shirt, reached over the lady sitting in front of me and it went in to my lap. I was hoping he would send one of his entourage to send for me. Sadly, not.
Saw Alvin live a couple of times and got the chance to have a natter after a gig nr Devizes. Great live. He opened with Queens " one vision"! My mother saw him too as Shane Fenton! Loved Colin with his Playboy!
great time to be a teenager in 1975, I was 14 and remember how the chase high school was sending kids home for wearing patch pocket trousers and if your platform shoes were to tall off home you went, it was a great way to get the day off from school.
You can't get a better gig than the Wheeltapper's and Shunter's club. I remember watching this show with my Mum and Dad when I was just 10 years old. Would have loved to have been at the club itself if I was a bit older back then.
Ah, good ol' Alvin. Elvis, stinting in Vegas around this time, was undoubtedly looking over his shoulder, worried at this impertinent pretender to his throne. Rocked to Coo Cooky Cheesy Choo aged ten. I had all the groovy moves. Still do, yo.
RIP Alvin, aka Bernard Jewry. Loved your songs written by the great Peter Shelley. On behalf of the committee, I would just like to sit quietly and read my Playboy whilst Alvin is singing! Colin Crompton - 3:13.....hilarious! 😂
Started off as Shane Fenton. Great video and memories flood back. Colin Crompton is the guy who co presented Wheeltappers. With the flat cap at 3:15 reading the Playboy magazine. Bernard Manning was a racist by the way but you got away with a lot back in those days. Still he was a funny guy.

I saw showaddywaddy there in 78.
This took me back to the best years of my life.
Life seemed so much simpler and fun then .
Total class throughout. Quality we really don’t see any more. Just … GREAT.
Great talent - genuinely nice bloke too. RIP Alvin
Saw Alvin many times particularly at MCN bikers weekends at Skeggy he was a brilliant showman
Amazing how he worked the crowd & then had them in the palm of his hand.
Alvin was such a gent and a great performer. These hits are fabulous!

just so you know, Mr Jewry used the name Shane Fenton to replace the original singer named Shane Fenton. who had died
Interesting how much they were making in small venues, like this? Not much I guess!
It all seems a bit rushed.
Ripped off Vince Taylor, when Taylor was still alive
just thinking about Vince Taylor when I saw this comment.
But Taylor ripped Gene Vincent and Elvis so it's all good
😃
But Alvin Stardust was so much better than Vince Taylor cos I've never ever heard of him.....😂😂
You couldnt make this up. 😑
