    Alvin Stardust in the 70’s was my “glam rock era” idol, he had it all just a brilliant performer.
    It was sad to hear of his passing, RIP ALVIN STARDUST. 🙏

    I knew your dad from when I was 14 years old and I snuck into night clubs with my mum to watch him. Your dad was one in a million and he loved you and Adam so much. Remember when I sent you the dogs that I made S & A on the collars? I was devastated when he passed away and think about him all the time. You had one amazing dad and I am proud that you made this video, he would love it so much xx

      Hello Sara, the man's name was Shane not Shaun,
      The history is the original Shane Fentone real name Johnny Theakston, age 17 years died of rheumatic fever and Bernard Drewey, who was his friend was asked by Johnny's mum to take on the mantle Shane Fentone and the Fentones, so Bernard Drewey, became Shane Fentone, and in the 1970s reinvented himself as Alvin Stardust, the Stardust bit coming from David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust, it's all on wikipedia, he had some good numbers in the 60s and good although glam numbers in the 70s before leaning more into spiritual songs in later years one of the first spirituals was a wonderful time up there by Lee Roy Abernathy and the Homeland Harmony Quartet from 1947 covered by Pat Boone's father in law Red Foley, the same year Pat himself made it a big hit in the 1950s, and your right it was a lovely interview, p,s hope your not offended by as Ernie Wise, would say what I wrote as I don't mean to offend, I mentioned Ernie, as on UA-cam there's film of Alvin Stardust, singing a wonderful time up there on their show accompanied by Eric and Ernie,

    I have to admit to being a bit frightened by Alvin Stardust in the 1970s...but this film has shown me how he was not the image I saw...just a decent bloke trying to make his mark as a human being and doing the best he could...I am not frightened of this person anymore...he was what we all are, and was better at it than most.

    Lovely guy..

    • @markmark63
      @markmark63 2 роки тому

      The Shane Fenton in 1959-1960 was a different person. His real name was Johnny Theakston, he was the first Shane Fenton until 1961, when he died suddenly of rheumatic fever. The Fentones' then asked their roadie - Bernard Jewry to take his place for a BBC show they'd been invited on, and Bernard also took on the name Shane Fenton as well, they played together until 1964.

    One little thing - you talk about 'My Coo Ca Choo' as his first single but neglect to mention that he didn't actually sing on it. It was actually sung by Peter Shelley.

    Alvin did a lit for Charity, I photographed him at a Charity Gig in Dunstable, I was Roadie for Rob Davis (MUD) Rob was Guitarist for whom needed him, Tight Fit, Voices with Soul etc.
    I Met Alvin at the Gate of Butlins Bognor, to give him a Disc with the Photos on, for him to use s he wanted & asked Permission to Use the Photo’s for the Charity I Support.
    Anyone in the Business I photograph knows I use them for Charity & Alvin was happy & gave the OK.
    So if you know him as the Moody Guy, Shane Fenton or the Jealous Guy, Alvin Stardust.
    He was a Star who gave a lot of his time for Charity.
    Look for the Pretend video, he did for the Royal VarietyShow, A friend of mine Jeff Britton (wings & wild angels) Was the Drumner

      Indeed. I'm from Kenya and I knew about him from my family which was supported by the charities he was involved in. My mom told me that he would perform to raise funds for supporting such families as mine back then in Nairobi. Am forever grateful and thankful.
