I never liked the guy, but hearing how he fought slavery even when it would get him in hot water, gave me a new respect for the guy. I can't imagine what he would have felt seeing what the Empire became and his fight towards abolishing slavery undone. In a way just as tragic as Anakin's fall.

I always wondered why some other species would find Twileks desirable, Especially the Huts. I imagine humanoid females would be just as distasteful to them as their females are to us. I guess we can chalk this up to human-centric writers. LOL.
Hutts don't have a sex drive. They only keep pretty female aliens like Twi'lek because they want others to be jealous of their property.
To be fair, humans make up the majority of the species within the Star Wars universe. Doesn't help that many other species like Hapens, Twi-lek, Zabrak, Chiss, etc. are really humanoid looking to begin with. So it makes sense that "humanoid" is basically considered the typical beauty standard of the Galaxy.
The reason Hutts keep Twi-lek is the same reason wealthy people keep "exotic" pets; they want to show off the valuable "assets" to other richies + they are not too unpredictable or assertive
@@quakethedoombringer you and @frosty carrots are both right but I sometimes see images of Twileks in intimate positions with beings that are far from humanoid and when I try to picture it the other way around, I find it too gross for comfort. Maybe it's just me.

There really is absolutely no reason why non humanoid species would find humanoid females attractive or desirable. The only real feelings that non humanoids would have towards them in regards to anything sexual are the same ones that humanoids would have toward non humanoid females, which are being extremely gross, disgusting, or at best mere curiosity or confusion.

He was still the Senator from Ryloth 5 years after the Empire and Palpatine still thought he was loyal to him. In the book Lords of the Sith, he travels with Palpatine and Vader to Ryloth when their star destroyer is attacked by Cham Syndulla. It does not say what happens to him but it is assumed by Palpatine and Vader that he escaped like a rat fleeing a sinking ship.
And that's no longer canon

We've now seen Taa's actions during the beginning of the Empire in The Bad Batch, and he was actively helping the Empire to suppress dissent and was bothered by the way Cham Syndulla inspired the Rylothians.

I believe 5 years in to the empire he accompanied palpatine on a state visit to ryloth to inspect and personally chastise a moff there was an assassination attempt on palpatine and taa is left for dead on the bridge of a star destroyer that was destroyed in the attempt. He is not listed as a survivor , also he is seen to be petrified of palpatine before this

Anybody who watched episode 11 of Bad Batch know just how damn true this video is
One of the ironic things about the Clone Wars was that the Confederacy of Independent Systems, who seceded from the Republic due to taxes and tyranny, somehow became MORE ruthless during the War than the Republic was. Their war crimes were worse than the Republic's in both frequency and intensity.

The history of slavery on ryloth parallels well with real life. Africans practiced slavery amongst each other well before Europeans got involved.
You forget that the middle east had a long history of using east Africans in slavery. Hell, they even had a slave revolts because of their practices. Europe had been aware of this slave trade for a while and is arguably why they got the idea for African slaves.

It’s interesting how there are so many cultural and historical parallels in Star Wars. Like the togruta are very much like Indians, the twileks are like pre colonial African tribes, and the Wookiee are native Americans.
I thought twi’leks were supposed to be French
George Lucas took inspiration from history of humanity. He took so much and perhaps even US politics mixed with Roman Republic to the rise of Nazis in Germany and stuff in terms if The Republic. Sith to me are a mix of religious matters on evil. The rule of two reminded me how I heard somewhere, evil always kills evil. Good never wins because good triumphs over evil, good is usually tolerant. Evil becomes so powerful, it fractures into factions vying for control. Like the rule of two, evil's subordinates tend to try and kill their leader to become the leader.
There is quite a lot of historical references. Order 66 was similar to the Knights of Templar how they were betrayed and executed because they found out, some truths they were NOT supposed to know. Church ordered their elimination. Few Templar survived the purge. Friday the 13th I think it was called, I think. Convictions were fabricated due to politics. It seems like they just wanted to eliminate them because the Templars found Christ's body supposedly in the middle east. The arabic people held much of the artifacts and even supposedly knew the place Jesus was buried... so... execute order 66.
Another incident was Hitler's assassinations of political rivals, even within his own party. I believe one leader of the early Schutzstaffel was assassinated because he grew too powerful and Hitler feared that the SS follows this man over him. Thus, remove the liability.
Stalin removed a lot of officers... Order 66 like. Purge of his staff. Did so when he gained power too. Purged every Officer.
So many references, even the Podrace was based off those Roman Chariot Races. Just as dangerous, the movie Ben Hur I believe. The 1959 film at least, actual people died filming it. Chariot racing was freaking dangerous. People got run over by horses and carts. Podracing was based off that, Lucas was- is still a very cultured man.
As a challenge, one could try and find every reference to human history and try and label it. Probably hundreds, can't blame you if you can't catch 'em all.
